50 curated collector cars are up for grabs, representing some of the best of old and new
Silverstone Auction’s September sale will take place at the Dallas Burston Polo Club in Warwickshire on September 29. Silverstone will play host to 50 diverse and celebrated collector cars, spanning from consummate blue-chip classics like the Jaguar E-type and Mercedes-Benz Pagoda-roof SLs; to the newest and flashiest high-performance machines.
The auction is headlined by three luscious Lamborghinis spanning both its modern Audi-owned era, back to its classic white-knuckled roots.
Lot 329 sees a 2007 Lamborghini Murcielago LP640-4 ‘Versace’ edition. With just 11,500kms from new, and one of 20 ‘Versace’ edition cars, the car represents a rare collectible example of Lamborghini’s breakout 6.lt V12 modern monster. Estimate is pegged between A$270,000 and A$300,000.
If that’s too new for you – Lot 334, will see a 1996 Lamborghini Diablo SV cross the block with a pre-auction estimate of A$235,000 to A$ 270,000. It has covered just 33,000kms since new and comes with a massive history file. One of just 33 delivered new to the UK, it represents the most hardcore, most advanced and most expensive Lamborghini of the time.
For those even more classically-minded, a 1974 Lamborghini Espada Series III (Lot 341) will go under the hammer for an estimate of A$163,000 to A$200,000. A front-engined GT car rather than the aforementioned mid-ship monsters, the car was similarly Lamborghini’s V12 flagship of the time, and have only gotten more desirable and collectible in recent years.
It’s not just Lamborghinis either as there’s a number of other lots that caught our eye too.
The first lot of the sale is a 1966 Mercedes-Benz 230SL Pagoda, followed shortly by a 1988 BMW E30 M3 Evolution II – both estimated to fetch between A$108,000 and A$125,000.
Later on , Lot 342 will see a rare 1984 Renault 5 Turbo 2 available with an estimate of A$126,000 to A$144,000 – followed immediately by one of our favourite: a 1974 Volkswagen Single Cab Pick-Up truck, restored a well-known Porsche Specialist – estimated to fetch between A$36,000 and A$45,000.
