The best things come in three
Shannons Sydney Winter Classic Auction has some truly excellent cars up for grabs, and they’ve got 3 Falcon GTs that would have any Blue Oval fan chucking a bid on quicker than you can say “GT-HO”.
1967 Ford Falcon XR GT
The original Falcon GT, this particular XR was actually featured in this very magazine back in 2013. According to Shannons, this XR has undergone a full, bare-metal, nut and bolt restoration which saw the body completely stripped and old repairs that were poorly completed have been professionally mended. In Addition, the XR’s dash has been re-chromed, the gauges have been refurbished, the front seats have been recovered and the car has fresh rubbers and seals throughout. Shannons estimate that the XR’s price range will be around $100,000-$115,000.
1970 Ford Falcon XY GT
Built in November 1970, this XY GT was first sold in Queensland through McCluskey Ford, and is finished in factory original ‘Vermillion Fire’ red. According to Shannons, this XY was converted to GT-HO spec by Auto Sports Inc. early in its life and has only has three owners since new. In addition, the vehicle has been well cared for and garaged its whole life, and recently underwent a full bare metal respray. Shannons reckon the GT is good for $130,000-$145,000.
1970 Ford Falcon XW GT-HO Phase II
Built in July of 1970, this genuine XW Phase II is accompanied by a letter or verification from Ford Australia and has a Deluxe ACCHS report. This is one of just 44 examples finished in ‘Diamond White’ and one of just 13 that combine with paint scheme with contrasting dark saddle upholstery. In addition, the Phase II has a rebuilt engine by Bryan Byrt Ford’s racing division and comes with Phase III headers, mufflers and a set of 15-inch Globe alloy wheels. Shannons put the estimate of the Phase II at $190,000-$210,000.
