2022 Market Review - Toyota Aristo/Chaser/Soarer
Soarers of all kinds are disappearing from Australian roads and if you want one to preserve, look for a 2.5TT with good local history. That or try to import a pre-1997 model under the new used vehicle laws that apply from July 2022.
For something similar in a four-door sedan, check out the Chaser. These might resemble a drab Lexus but perform more like a Supra, with a notional 208kW from their single-turbo six. Five-speed manual cars are keenly sought, and prices can be $20,000 more than for the typical automatic.
Aristos are based on the GS300 Lexus, with twin-turbo 3.0-litre engines. For reasons best known to the market these remain considerably cheaper than JZX100 Chasers.
