Give the super some style!
Shannons’ Sydney Spring Classic Auction is happening tonight, Monday the 13 of November, and there’s an absolute plethora of vehicles that we here in the office would love to have parked in our collective driveways.
Amongst all the usual Aussie car auction royalty, however, there are a few cars that, if they go for the right price, might be a super smart investment for the future.
Here are our favourite picks that have the potential to help out the old retirement fund:

According to Shannons, this ace looking 635 was first registered in January of 1985 and had the same owner for over 30 years. What’s more, the dark blue beauty has a mere 150,917 kilometres on the clock from new and the current owner has carried out some mechanical refreshes including the sixers brakes being completely overhauled. In addition, the BMW comes with its original books, a full, documented service history and even a new set of extractors. Shannons reckon the 635CSi is good for $20,000-$25,000.

Yes, I know, it’s a well-established notion that buying an old Porsche 911 as an investment is safer than houses. However, convertible 911s from the ‘70s and ‘80s haven’t garnered the same hysterical demand as their coupe counterparts. But, I reckon this ’88 911 3.2 Cabriolet ‘Jubilee Edition’ might just be the diamond in the non-coupe rough we’ve all been looking for. For a start, the Jubilee Edition, also known as the Commemorative Edition, was a limited run special built by the Stuttgart firm to celebrate its milestone of building 250,000 Beetle-esque sportscars with the engine in the wrong place. What’s more, only 875 Jubilees were built and just 255 of those were cabs, making this Diamond Blue Metallic example a very rare beast indeed. Shannons have put an estimate of $65,000 – $75,000 on the Porker, and if that’s accurate, that’s good buying.

Last but by no means least, this uber-cool Subi’ coupe will have every rally enthusiast chomping at the bit to chuck a bid on. It’s also undoubtedly a sure-fire bet to be an appreciable asset in the future. For a start, just 399 of these Version 5 Coupes were sold in Australia, and, according to Shannons, only 100 were painted white. In addition, this particular Version 5 is a one owner vehicle from new and has travelled a low 75,288 kilometres. Shannons add that the Rex comes with its original registration plates, books and key pad alarm system. Shannons believe the STI will sell for $40,000-$50,000, and everyone in the office is seriously considering a group buy!
