GraysOnline’s Classic Car Auction offers some hidden gems
1986 Holden VL Turbo Manual Wagon
The first car that caught our eye is this honest and workable-looking VL Turbo wagon.
The car looks fair and clean, with the interior in surprisingly good condition, and all exterior trim in place.
It looks like it’s been fiddled with a little – with an aftermarket head unit and two aftermarket gauges (boost and oil pressure) mounted in the centre console.
The listing also indicates a ‘sports exhaust’, king springs, ARP head studs, and 28 spline LSD disc brake rear end.
Overall, the car looks clean and is in running condition. We reckon it would make a great rolling resto project.
No odometer reading is listed in the ad, however the odometer reads 182,355kms.
Bidding stands at $7,509 at the time of writing, and has 2 days left on the auction.
1971 Ford LTD 429 Automatic
After a big yank tank?
Check out this ’71 Ford LTD 429.
The LTD was Ford’s range-topping full-size offering at the time, and was a distinctly more luxuriously-specified offering more akin to equivalent Lincoln and Mercury models.
This one features a 429ci V8 mated to an automatic transmission.
Silver exterior and green vinyl trim looks to be in good condition with 75,272 miles indicated on the odo.
It cuts an imposing silhouette and would be a rare sight on aussie roads.
The current bid stands at $32,000 with two days to go.
1974 Porsche BBR Monterey Spyder
This curiously-clothed Porsche 914 is actually a pretty rare car, born out of the height of America’s 80s sports car racing.
Prominent American team-Porsche outfit, Beach Boys Racing, built just 109 of these slant-nosed ‘Monterey Spyders’ out of Porsche 914 roadsters.
This is the only one in the country, and would look right at home rolling into your local Porsche club event.
Under the reworked skin sits a supercharged 2.0lt air-cooled mid-mounted motor mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
The car reportedly weighs just 920kgs and has been completely restored.
The listing pegs the odometer at 84,454kms with current bidding standing at $21,509.
You’ve got two days left to secure your 80s Miami motoring dreams!
