The Bullitt Mustang is back!

And boy, does it look good!

Ford has unveiled its newest addition to the Mustang line up – the 2018 Ford Mustang Bullitt edition.

The new ‘Stang has been built to commemorate the 50 year anniversary of the film that solidified the Mustang as a muscle car icon, the 1968 cult classic – Bullitt.

The scenes of Steve McQueen belting around the undulating streets of San Francisco behind the wheel of the Highland Green 1968 Ford Mustang GT 390 Fastback are regarded by many to be one of, if not, the best car chase scenes in cinema history.

Just like its predecessor, the new Bullitt Pony Car is sporting the same gorgeous shade of Highland Green and also features the same badge delete treatment, blacked-out accents and black mag wheels.

Under the bonnet, the Bullitt Mustang retains the regular Mustang GT’s 5.0lt Coyote V8, however, power is up in the homage car thanks to a larger throttle body and new intake system.

The extra grunt from the worked V8 will also be accompanied by a louder bark thanks to the Bullitt receiving an active exhaust system as standard.

Other features will include larger Brembo brakes, Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tyres and the option of magnetorheological dampers.

Inside, the Bullitt scores a revised instrument panel, unique stitching, optional Recaro buckets and a choice, Hurst-esque white gear knob.

The Bullitt ‘Stang is only being offered with the six-speed manual, despite the new 10-speed automatic being the quicker of the two transmissions, but we reckon that’s exactly how McQueen would have wanted it.
