Brian Pierce's 1998 TD2000 Roadster...
1998 TD2000 Roadster
This TD is something I bought sight unseen. It wasn’t too much of a gamble as I’d owned a TD before, so when I read the advertisement, I realised just what it was. This car turned out to be a piece of Australian motoring history, custom built for the owner of the TD Motor Company. While most TDs ran a Nissan twin-spark two- litre engine, this was something a bit special. It had a Nissan SR20 twin cam with Motec injection, coilovers all round and a Celica five-speed along with a Ford XF diff. It’s really old looking but with just over 195kW driving an 890kg body it’s a real Porsche eater.
I believe that there is only one other with the same specs, but I have no idea where it is. My grandson, Bayley, loves it, and when I planned to sell it at a local motor show he told me to go ahead and that he’d catch up with me. When I turned to make sure he wasn’t too far away, he’d already removed the ‘for sale’ sign from the car. This one might be a keeper.
