One-owner Cortina with Falcon power is a rarity
You definitely don’t see one of these every day: a MkIV or TE Ford Cortina in what seems like exceptional unmolested condition.
Built locally in 1976-79, they shared a fair bit of Falcon hardware, including instruments and steering columns. Plus you could get them with the Pinto 2lt four, or a choice of two Falcon sixes – the 200ci (3.3lt) or 250 ci (4.1lt) inline engines.
In Europe, you had a choice between fours or V6s.
These mid-sized cars had plenty of speed with the sixes on board, but also got a reputation for being a bit of a lead-tipped arrow thanks to the weight in the nose.
Finding one that looks as original as this 1978 car is very rare.
This is a top-of-the-line Ghia, with air-conditioning and power steering and has a six, but the vendor doesn’t say which one. They say it’s a one-owner with 100,000km on it and service records.
Whats it worth? Assuming it checks out okay, the $14,500 pricetag is well below resto cost. There are very few good ones out there, so this one will probably help set the values. The fact it’s locally-made with a lot of Falcon input should help its value long-term.
