30 no reserve cars among 80 lots ranging from $10k to $400k+
From Shannons: Small spenders have a great opportunity to put a classic car in their garage at Shannons up-coming Melbourne Winter Auction on July 16, with 30 among of the 80 lots offered carrying ‘no reserve’.
Two historically important T53 Lowline Cooper Climax racing cars, three exotic Australian-delivered Nissan GT-R R32 coupes, a factory right hand drive 1959 Jaguar XK150 Drophead Coupe and a thumping 1968 Ford Mustang ‘GT 500E Eleanor Replica’ are amongst the high-profile collectibles going to the highest bidder.
At the other end of the price spectrum, enthusiasts with an eye for value could find a bargain in one of three sought-after MG roadsters, a stylish V12 Jaguar XJ-C Coupe, a two-owner 1974 Citroen D Special, a V8-engined Land-Cruiser FJ40, a restored 1953 Alvis TC21 Saloon, a rare 1947 Triumph 1800 Roadster, a collectible 1973 ‘Suffix B’ early Range Rover, a superb 1993 Bentley Brooklands Saloon, one of four classic Holdens, including a ’barnfind’ 1960 FB Special Sedan, or four locally-built Fords, including a very original, restored XB Fairmont and an XB-based hearse.
The three Nissan GT-Rs already have enthusiasts around Australia salivating, as this is the first time that three of the 100 factory-delivered Australian coupes have come together in the same auction.
One of the Cooper Climax T53s has special significance, as it was originally owned by the late three-times World Driving Champion, Sir Jack Brabham.
At the budget end, one vehicle sure to interest American car collectors is a left hand drive 1955 Buick Century Pillarless ‘Ventiports’ hardtop sedan offered in largely original ‘project’ condition – right down to its rear seat that is still wrapped in its delivery plastic. It is expected to attract strong bidding in the $10,000-$14,000 range.
Also expected to draw strong bidding from enthusiasts is a right hand drive, one family owned 1939 Chevrolet Sloper Sports Coupe offered in restored, ready-to-enjoy condition, that is expected to bring $16,000-$22,000.
Anyone with a business to promote could try for the stylish, as-new 1967 Vespa 150 Super Scooter in stunning black and silver that would be ideal for a restaurant or clothing boutique display if it sells, as expected, for $4000-$6000.
