Second last Shelby Cobra ever made up for auction

You’ll probably need a couple of million to secure it though

Mecum Auctions in the United States is offering up a very special car at their Kissimmee auction in January 2018 – a gorgeous 1965 Shelby Cobra.

This isn’t just any old Shelby Cobra, however, this Cobra was the second last example ever made by Shelby.

What’s more, it was the both the last example ever sold to the general public and the last example to come equipped with a manual transmission.

The Last Shelby Cobra ever made was equipped with an automatic transmission and commissioned by Carroll Shelby himself, and the Shelby family still owns that vehicle to this day.

Build number CSX2588, which is finished in factory original ‘Rouge Iris’, comes equipped with the highly desirable 289ci ‘HiPo’ V8 with aluminium intake and Holley 715 CFM ‘Le Mans’ carburettor.

The Cobra also comes equipped with factory original ‘Class A’ accessories including original side skirts, top frame and tonneau cover.

Mecum adds that the Cobra has always been maintained to the highest standard and has never needed a full restoration.

It’s hard to say exactly how much this amazing piece of American automotive history will sell for, nevertheless, Mecum have put a price estimate $1,250,000 – $1,500,000 US dollars on the Cobra, so that’s around 1.63 – 1.96 million Aussie dollars.
