1966 Series One E Type Coupe 4.2 Litre Matching Numbers. Registration number: AHJ 270E Chassis number: 1E32523 Delivered by the factory on 11 th January 1966 and shipped to the US where it was sold in California to its first owner Jerome J Born. Subsequently in 1971 it was sold to its second owner Ralf E Vail of Santa Fe New Mexico who kept the car through until 2017 when it was acquired from his Estate and recently repatriated to the U.K. with all taxes paid. The car has always been a dry State car kept in the southwest of America and as a result it is extremely solid and sound and one that has never been rusty. It is also an incredibly straight car with very good door and bonnet gaps. Its a matching numbers car showing 57000 miles which is believed to be its genuine mileage from new. There are a number of receipts which show that car was maintained during its life and it runs well with various items of work carried out recently including a new Stainless Bell Exhaust system . The car was repainted in red and trimmed in tobacco hide about 12 years ago in its present livery although its original colour was oyster beige with a beige interior which is an extremely rare colour combination. From research carried out it is one of less than 30 cars released in this colour. Whilst not a Concours car it is an extremely solid and sound car which can be enjoyed as it is or alternatively enhanced as and when required. It is in stock now with a UK plate applied for. In 1963, the Sports 1,500-cubic centimetre, dual-carburettor flat-four was enlarged to 1,800 cubic centimetres. Unlike the other models in the Flavia line, whose single-carburettor arrangement produced 92 brake horsepower, the Sports engine retained dual carburettors, which saw its power increase to 100 brake horsepower and then 105 brake horsepower, with competition-tuned units making 130 brake horsepower. In the decade following the 1955 reorganisation, Lancias competition efforts consisted of factory support for the gentlemen drivers of the HF Squadra Corse. Organised by Cesare Fiorio, son of Lancias PR director, the privateer Squadra and the tuning firms that supported its efforts would become the core of Lancias competition department when the factory returned to racing in 1965. Whilst the more-numerous Pininfarina-built Flavia Coup saw competition using engines similar to the Sport, the lighter weight of the Sport made it well suited for hill climbs and rallies, as well as circuit racing. This exceptional Flavia Zagato was the subject of comprehensive, chassis up restoration in 2011 with documented pictures to support the work. The vendor has currently fitted an uprated 2,000cc engine, gearbox and suspension mounted on a subframe but interested parties should be aware that the original, matching numbers, engine, gearbox, subframe, etc are all sold with the car. Used for historic motorsport events and described to be in excellent condition throughout, this is certainly a car for any Lancia enthusiast. The Big Healeys have long been viewed as the ultimate British sports cars of the 1960s. Development of the line started with the 1952 Healey 100 launched at the London Motor Show. The evocative lines and superb handling of the Healey made it a sleek and successful rally car all around the world. With its 6-cylinder engine giving plenty of torque, the cars are more than quick enough to keep up with modern day traffic. This example was supplied new to the USA in 1965 where it lived for 35 years until returning to Blighty in 1999. Then a thorough restoration was completed by a specialist to a very high standard, all documented with photos, invoices etc. She is still in superb condition today having only covered a few thousand miles since the work. There is a Heritage certificate in the extensive history file which includes restoration history and all regular servicing etc. Sensible updates include; unleaded conversion,123 ignition, uprated fuel pump and additional electric coolng fan with most recent work carried out by JME Healey. On the road these early Healeys are great fun especially considering this one is nearly 60 years old and this one is hard to beat with a great colour combination. She drives beautifully and the phase two cars were the last 3000s in production and some say the beat of all the Big Healeys with a great torquey engine and long legged overdrive gearbox meaning effortless high speed cruising. Supplied fully inspected, serviced with a 12 month warranty.
