Now available for sale at Muscle Car Warehouse is this beautiful representation of the VR GTS Commodore. When first released the GTS model was as good as it got with its newly developed 215 5.7 litre V8 Holden engine. This car starting its life as a Berlina but now wearing a host of genuine GTS parts. The body kit, wheels and interior are all genuine GTS parts making this Commodore look as close to the genuine article as possible. Cosmetically the only variation is the owners choice to add VS style GTS stickers to the car as opposed to the VR GTS stickers. The car has recently been resprayed and looks fantastic. As mentioned inside consists of genuine VR GTS interior. The stereo system has been upgraded with aftermarket items. The car has only travelled just over 113,000 kilometres which is below average for a car of its age. Powering the car is a stroked 333 cube Holden V8. This car sounds and goes as good as it looks. The Interceptor Falcons were built from Falcon GT 54H body shells including full Falcon GT running gear, larger radiator support with top brace, front crossmember step down plate and dual exhausts. All in a Falcon 500 disguise. New South Wales cars were fitted with FMX automatic transmissions while the Victorian cars were fitted with four speed Top Loader transmissions. This example is finished in Cruise Blue which was a government colour with contrasting tu-tone blue vinyl interior and was used by the New South Wales Police force for highway patrol duties in the Sydney CBD area. The engine is still its original matching numbers 351 Cleveland with 4V heads and FMX automatic transmission. It has also been featured in Unique Car magazine where it also graced the front cover. Holdens final traditional full-size car prior the launch of the downsized Commodore, the HZ range announced in October 1977 was the fourth revision of the original HQ series. Minor changes to the body included a new grille, badges, and hubcaps but more importantly Holden adopted the Radial Tuned Suspension already seen on the Torana range. With reworked suspension, anti-roll bars front and rear and changes to the power steering, the big Holdens handling was markedly improved, while rear disc brakes were now optional (and standard on both the GTS and Statesman) for the first time. Although the Monaro name had survived into 1977 as the HX Monaro GTS sedan, Holden decided to delete the Monaro name altogether from the new Holden HZ range. With the development of Radial Tuned Suspension, Holden transformed the bland characteristics of their full-size sedans and introduced a sporting variant simply called Holden GTS. Released in October 1977, the HZ GTS featured a four-headlight grille, front and rearspoilers, four-wheel disc brakes, sports wheels and a 4.2 litre V8 engine as standard equipment. The optional 5.0 litre V8 became standard in June 1978. Production of the GTS ceased in December 1978, with an estimated 1438 having been built.
