Wayne Gardners career highlights include no less than 18 Grand Prix wins from a decade long partnership with Honda, along with becoming the first Australian to take the coveted 500ccMotorcycle World Championship title. Following his retirement from front line motorcycle racing at the end of 1992, Gardner made a much publicised switch to touring cars. This in turn led to Gardners foray into the world of road cars, in the form of the Wayne Gardner Racing Road Divisions Group A Commodore. Sensing a gap in the market between the increasingly expensive HSV products and the regular Commodore line up,. Gardners outfit planned to offer a wide range of engine, suspension and bodywork modifications at relatively affordable prices. Tapping into the expertise available via his racing team WGR upgrades included a cold-air induction system re-profiled camshaft, revised computer settings, intake and exhaust mods to increase power to 195kW. Based on the contemporary VR/VSCommodore with its slippery aero styling, WGRs GroupA body package was the work of Sydney design studio Talon which included a deep front spoiler with integrated driving lights, side skirts and a boot mounted rear wing complete with carbon-fiber end plates. The choice of wheels was the 18inch 5spoke alloy MOMO wheel complemented by the custom Recaro interior supplied by Autotek other cosmetic touches included a MOMO steering wheel with a carbon-fibre centre console. The main objective for WGR vehicles were to build them with quality tailored for customer requirements. WGR production vehicles that were built had a unique build number although exact production figures remain unknown. This particular example is totally original which comes with all documentation logbooks and service history. Once again, this car was originally part delivered to the DAlberto Holden dealership in Echuca Victoria and kept with the DAlberto family as part of their private collection until 2018 which was never registered and still remains unregistered with its original blank logbook meaning you could be the first private owner of this very special HSV. In that time the car was only used for maintenance purposes and to this day has only clocked up 1312 kilometres.
