In 1969 the famed Talladega Superspeedway opened its gates, and at the time it was a track unlike any other in the world. Its 5 story high banks allowed a man to travel faster on wheels than ever before. However, push too hard and the colossal track would eat your car alive. In the late 1960s Detroit had begun to produce faster and more aerodynamic cars for NASCAR. Cars such as the Ford Torino Talladega, the Dodge Charger 500 and several others began to dominate the NASCAR circuit. While these cars were the fastest cars in the world they were not capable of reaching 200 MPH even on a super speedway. Some drivers at the time were afraid to even drive on Talladega. In order for the 200 MPH barrier to be broken, the right car and the right man were needed. The man turned out to be none other than Big Buddy Baker, and the right car was the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona. Buddy Baker was a 6 foot 6 giant, and he had enough guts and brute strength to attempt such a feat. The Charger Daytona was the fastest and the most aerodynamic car to hit the tracks back in those days. On March 24th, 1970, Baker set out to make history in his race-tuned Hemi equipped Daytona. He took his winged warrior flat out on the high bank oval, punched the throttle into the fire and broke the 200 MPH barrier. He did so with an average lap speed of 200.096 MPH, forever leaving his name in the record books next to one of the most important milestones in NASCAR history. In fact, this car was actually too successful on the track, as the seemingly endless dearth of wins in 1969 by the Daytona and in 1970 by the Superbird resulted in NASCAR changing the rule book. As a result, these cars werebanned from the sport!! The car we present to you here is a clone of that very car Buddy Baker broke the rule books with!! A 1970 Dodge Charger built to disguise the car that Buddy accelerated to 200+ MPH way back in 1970. Starting life as a 383, automatic, Charger 500 but now sporting beautiful bright blue paintwork with white stripe across the rear together with the special #88 livery and fitted with the special nose cone and huge rear wing, making this iconic tribute look like it is doing 200mph standing still!! Under the hood is nothing but the very best, a genuine NASCAR 426 cubic inch fuel injected Hemi engine producing in excess of 500 horsepower all controlled by a MOTEC engine management system. Side exiting exhaust system also adds to the race feel!! The Hemi engine is backed up by a 727 Torqueflite automatic gearbox. Inside is as per original with standard seats in black vinyl. Keeping an eye on all the excitement under the hood are a selection of Autometer gauges. The car sits perfectly on a set of NASCARStockcar rims with period Goodyear stencilled tyres. Muscle Car Warehouse is excited to present to you this very special 1969 Holden HT Monaro GTS 350 which is build number 83 out of the Sydney plant and believed to have been first owned by a couple from Kingswood in the west of Sydney, then exchanging hands in the early eighties to the second owner of thirty five years and then onto the current owner approximately four years ago. With approximately 550 units made to meet homologation requirements to be able to participate in the Hardie Ferodo 500 in October of the same year. This example was built in September of 1969 and finished in Platinum Metallic (567-10974) with Black trim (10X). The paintwork was redone about 25 years ago in acrylic and stood the test of time and is only showing very minor defects but still very presentable. All of the mouldings, badges and other bright work such as the bumpers are all genuine and true to the car and are all in great condition. As you would expect this Monaro still houses its genuine 100% matching number engine (which was freshened up several years ago) with all of its genuine components still intact and once again all true to this car. Original date coded heads, intake manifold, extremely rare 7029283 Quadrajet carburettor and the genuine homologation upgraded air cleaner with extra breathing holes and even the trap door sump which is unique to the HT 350 cars. Original exhaust manifolds with complete factory correct exhaust systems with special quad tips. All the fuel lines, ignition leads, special clips are all there! Even the compliance plates have never been removed. The starter motor, original fan with the special 350 fan spacer and original special radiator. All of the engine bay is completely correct and was achieved by using some NOS parts. The gearbox is also the date code correct 350 high capacity bearing Saginaw with the genuine bell housing and the correct rare hydraulic clutch parts and correct shifter assembly. Following on from there is the special Violet coloured tailshaft connecting to the genuine 10 bolt Chevy type differential with 3.08 Gears LSD and original radius rods. Note that the gearbox, clutch assembly, differential, front end including brakes and all tyres have also been recently freshened up. Other unique features on the Monaro are the 25 gallon long range fuel tank for endurance racing and the correct slotted rims to enhance brake cooling as part of the homologation process unique and exclusive to the HT GTS 350 Monaro model. With all of its special body features such as the unique floor pressings to accommodate the 25 gallon tank and Saginaw differential, unique holesin the firewall and holes to accommodate the 25 gallon tank and lastly the small diameter rear spring front bushed this car will easily pass any authenticity inspection. The interior has been refurbished to original specifications with countless NOS items used including NOS steering wheel, NOS crashpad and NOS centre console inserts amongst other parts once again to ensure this car is 100% correct. The Monaro also still retains all its original glass except for the front windscreen which has been replaced at some stage. Even still sporting its original Lucas brand headlights. This Monaro has never been unregistered in its 52 year life and is currently on NSW Historic registration which is not transferable and is now available for the fussiest of buyers so do not hesitate to contact Muscle Car Warehouse for any further information on this very rare piece of Australian muscle car history

Car sold by Hills Mustang to current owner in 2010. Was stripped and sandblasted and undergone a full nut and bolt restoration since. The car still has original bumper bars, bright work and glass except for windshield. Engine is a 302 Windsor with alloy Cleveland heads, roller cam, roller rockers, 4 bolt mains, alloy flywheel etc. Gear box is a T 10 Bog Warner and Ford 9 inch diff with special drive shafts. This modern day version of the AC Cobra was manufactured by the Kit Car Centre in Boksburg, South Africa. The Kit Car Centre built these Cobras from 1982 through to 2003 before being bought out by Backdraft Racing. They are longer and wider for added comfort also. It is believed all of them were fitted with Chev engines just like the one we have here which is fitted with a 454 big block Chev engine!! Atop of this big block monster is Hilborn style electronic fuel injection with MSD ignition and aluminium heads producing in excess of 300kw at the rear wheels!! The transmission is a Turbo 400 and the diff is a Ford 9 running Porsche brakes and four link suspension. This beast is not for the faint hearted!! On the outside the Cobra is nothing but eye popping!! From the iconic Blue and white striped Cobra theme, larger flares and huge bonnet scoop to the period correct Halibrand pin drive centre lock wheels and master side pipes!! Inside is black leather covered seats, racing harnesses, period correct gauges and steering wheel. Harness yourself in for the ride of your life!!
