This very early MKI tax exempt Triumph Stag was first registered on the 11th November 1971 and still retains its correct 2997cc Triumph V8 engine and has the desirable four speed manual gearbox with overdrive. This has always been an outstanding car to drive, we've supplied it to several regular customers over the past seven years and it must be one of the best driving examples we've supplied. The Stag has covered in the region of 4500 miles in the time we have known it and all its recent owners have been delighted with the car and have been known to us for many years. JMD 627K now records mileage of 92,000 miles and we have paperwork and records' dating back to the early 1990's when the mileage was 72000. From the history and a report from 1994, we know the car was subject of a major body restoration that included new body panels and various body repairs to place the car in first class condition. Immediately after restoration, the Triumph was in relatively regular use and covered in the region of15000 miles up to 2009. Within the past 4500 miles JMD 627K has had almost 10,000 spent on further improvements. Mechanically the Stag is in excellent order and benefits from recently replaced brake discs, pads and ball joints. The cylinder heads have both been stripped and rebuilt and the thermostat replaced. Further improvements include new shock absorbers, all new road springs, new brake pipes, hand brake gaiters, two Stromberg carburettors and a re-conditioned radiator. A new fuel pump, tank sender unit and seal, distributor and new overdrive solenoid have also been fitted. The Triumph has also been treated to a full professional re-paint after twenty years since having its body restoration and last full re-paint. More recently with a recent owner, the Stag has been treated to a new walnut dashboard, extensive engine bay detailing and a brand-new Stag wind deflector. The exterior condition of the car is very sharp with gleaming White paintwork, a very straight, smart body and bright chrome. Thefresh deep finish paintwork is of an excellent standard and panel gaps and alignment are exceptionally good. The upholstery is stunning with good quality original seats. The carpets, door cards and dashboard are all in excellent condition and the boot area is exceptionally tidy and the engine bay is top class. The soft top was recently replaced and is in excellent condition and is not difficult to put up or down. This MKI Stag is a delight to drive with superb handling, braking and steering. The engine is strong and offers superb performance as expected from a healthy 3.0 V8 unit. The gearbox is excellent with lovely changes up and down the gearbox, the overdrive comes in and out smoothly and the car cruises superbly. JMD 627K is ideal for long distance touring, rallies, shows or regular use. This is an on the button early Triumph Stag that is extremely useable and offers excellent value having had considerable expenditure over the past few years. MKI Stag's are becoming increasingly popular andcorrect, top class examples like this are not easy to find. Price: 22,995

This particular 1971 280 SE 3.5 Cabriolet enjoyed long-term enthusiast ownership for the last 30 years. It was owned by an East Coast collector for the past two decades, and before that, it was located on the West Coast with a collector for 10 years. This example is presented in wonderful condition after undergoing a no-expense-spared restoration to show quality by Road Scholars, of North Carolina. During the restoration, the engine was removed, the car was stripped to bare metal, and it received new paintwork, chrome, a new exhaust, and a new convertible top. The interior was completely reupholstered, and the car was fully detailed throughout, including the undercarriage and the engine bay. Finished in dark blue over a tobacco leather interior and currently showing 57,200 miles. The car retains a proper set of tools, a jack, and an owner's manual. When new, the 280 SE 3.5 Cabriolet was considered by many to be the finest automobile in the world. Today, that belief remains true for manyMercedes-Benz enthusiasts. Its design is truly timeless and exhibits class and character all its own. This example would be the perfect acquisition for the individual looking for a sophisticated automobile that will never go out of style.

1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SE 3.5 Cabriolet (W111)Silver Grey (180) with Blue Leather and Air ConditioningRoad Tax Exempt. ULEZ Exempt.*A seminal car in the Mercedes-Benz back catalogue, the 220, 250, 280 and 280 3.5 Cabriolets make up four of the most iconic, desirable and collectible vehicles ever produced by the Stuttgart brand. The W111 would be replaced by the W108 and then W116, ultimately evolving into the S Class we know and love - a car that became synonymous with safety, reliability, luxury, taste and performance. The 280 SE 3.5 was the final incarnation of this divine cabriolet, replacing the 280SE in August 1969 and remaining in production until end of the W111 in July 1971.At just over 1.6 tons the 2.2 litre M127 engines fitted to the 220SE Cabriolet and it's 118hp output could be described as adequate, but not ample. Although the 2.5 litre replacement alleviated the perceived power deficit somewhat, it wasn't until the 280SE and then 280 3.5 V8 that the car really got the power plant thatit's weight and stature deserved. It is this 'end of the line' 3.5 V8 engine that makes the 280SE 3.5 Cabriolet the car that all collectors seek. This was Mercedes' first post-war passenger car with more than 3.0 litres displacement, utilising the all new M116 3499cc V8 engine with a punchy 200hp. The new engine gave the big cabriolet a top speed of 130mph, ample power for transporting four people with grace and pace.Owned by the upper echelons of society, the lawyers, bankers and Hollywood stars who loved these cars enjoyed a luxurious interior flush with the chrome, leather and burred walnut.Total production numbers for the 220, 250 280 and 280 3.5 Cabriolets combined stretch to less than 6,500 units - not nearly enough to satiate worldwide demand for these palatial open motorcars.Just 1,232 280SE 3.5 Cabriolets were built in this period, 1,164 of which were left hand drive. That leaves just 68 right hand drive cars, making this an extremely rare motor car. This car boasts a fantastically royalcolour scheme for a car fit for kings and queens.A superb opportunity to acquire one one of the most iconic, desirable and collectible Mercedes-Benz cars of all time.*(All vehicles built on or before 1979 are exempt from road tax, on a one year rolling basis, assuming no further changes to this in forthcoming budgets); 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SE 3.5 Cabriolet (W111)Silver Grey (180) with Blue Leather and Air ConditioningRoad Tax Exempt.
