Vintage and Prestige are proud to offer this 1951 Bentley MKVI Special Bodied Roadster For Sale. Registration: LVM 968 Chassis no: B180KM Engine no: B90K Coachwork: J C Pitney and Sons Mileage Since Complete rebuild: 1,200 Affectionately known as Annie this MKVI first started life as a standard steel bodied MKVI saloon. This is not your usual case of an un-loved MKVI chassis being built up into a special, LVM 968 had in fact been well maintained and was garaged in excellent condition. In 1994 was fire damaged in the owners garage and it was at this point the current owner purchased her with the vision to create a magnificent roadster. The chassis was lowered, various cosmetic adjustments made to the chassis irons, engine and gearbox which were moved back 260mm. Every mechanical and electrical component on the car was checked and overhauled by the renowned experts Sergeants of Goudhurst over a three year period. The body was designed by the owner, who tasked J C Pitney and Sons with creating his masterpiece. The long, sweeping boat tail design is striking from every angle, and has many Bugatti-esque features. The complete build amounted to 8 years and less than 1,300 miles have been covered since then. To drive she is well balanced and powerful, the engine is smooth and sweet, a true delight on the road. In our showroom and ready for viewing. 1923 Maharajah of Gwalior Rolls Royce 20hp Barker All weather Cabriolet Chassis Number: 71A6 Registration Number: EL1017 The best of the best. This car was ordered new by The Maharajah of Gwailor & was shipped to India in 1923. IN 1928 he sold it to the Nirzam of Hyderbad, reputedly the richest man in India at the time. It was fitted when new with the current coachwork by Barker (Body Number 5055) taking the form of a very versatile all weather cabriolet: about the most expensive coachwork available at that time. Being an early car it has the 3 speed centre change gear box & rounded radiator edges. The car comes to us with a massive history & impeccable provenance including a hand written letter from the son of The Nirzam of Hyderbad recounting his memories of taking the car Tiger hunting back in the day & also driving it along the edges of rice paddies whilst hunting snipe & waterfowl. The exterior paint is Dark Green over Black & in fine order. To the interior is dark green lightly patinated leather with the roof being lined in West of England cloth. The wind up division has angled windows & makes the front cabin quite snug when driving with the roof down. From the history file we glean the following: THE PRINCE'S "BABY ROLLS' 71A6 is an early 1923 2Ohp with original Barker cabriolet body. The first owner was the Maharajah of Gwalior and the car remained in India until 1967. In 1928 the car was given to H.H. of Gwalior when she bore a son: Prince Nawab Habeeb Jung the Ameer of Paigah of Hyderabad'. The prince and his family affectionately referred to the car as our Baby Rolls as it stood alongside a 1925 Silver Ghost seven-seater tourer, later sold to Bill Meredith Owens and in which Her Majesty the Queen rode during Jubilee year. The above information was gleaned from a letter the Prince senf to a previous owner and I quote: "l've taken this car into the jungle on Tiger Shoots and chased buck across country. She went through paddy fields on snipe and duck shoots.'. I purchased the car in London in July 1980. The run home to Wiltshire down the M4 proved that Perhaps the brakes needed attention, although a new MOT came with the car! Temporary adjustments were made until the brake system was completely overhauled during the 1980/81 winter. Although basically sound, both mechanically and bodily, much work was needed to restore the car to her former glory. Front wheel hubs, gearbox and clutch have received attention and the car runs much smoother with taut spokes. When purchased, neither the windows~ the split windscreen or the three part centre division operated correctly. After attention to window mechanisms and with new safety glass all round, another job was done. Door hanging has been adjusted and new hood frames made. A visit to Cirencester Park in pouring rain, with the afternoon spent catching drips (torrents in bowls etc), quickly convinced me that new hooding might ease frustration! Resplendent with new hood and most brightwork renicke!led 71A6 now looks very elegant. The radiused front edge to the radiator and the scuttle mounted Stephen Grebe! tiger tights are unusual, likewise the silver faced instruments with nickel bezels as per original order card. Most mechanical and bodywork has been carried out by Ashton Keynes Vintage Restorations, and Tony Cobum of Blunsdon, Swindon, was responsible for trimming; first class workmanship as usual. More recently the engine has had a full rebulid wich new pistons, a reground crank & new big & little ends along with a new aluminium cylinder head. As a result the car runs beautifully in perfect silence with oil pressure at 28 PSI even when hot & the temperature gauge never reading over 80 degrees even on long climbs in hot weather. The car runs readily at 45 to 50MPH up hill & down dale. This is a rare opportunity to purchase what is possibly the best 20HP we have had the pleasure to handle with the added bonus of being a Maharajas car that escaped from India prior to the ban on exports coming into place from that country. It abounds with period details & is in superb order needing nothing having been supplied to the current onwer by the brothers P & A Wood & having covered a scant few miles since then. There are huge & meticulous bills from Ashton Keynes restoration for a massive refurbishment of the car undertaken upon its return to these shores from India in the 1980's. An interesting Magazine article about Princess Ezra, The Nirzams descendent comes with the car, detailing her restoration of the Nirzams Chowmahalla Palace & having to deal with the Nirzams 42 elderly concubines who were still in residence when she took over the running of the palace. 1956 Bentley S1 Continental H.J. Mulliner Fastback Registration number: TBA Under long term ownership for several decades, this car is a low mileage example having covered a scant 66,000 miles. The car is finished in its original colour of Midnight blue with the paint having been redone to a very high standard a few years ago. The interior is original leather & throughout & again is in very fine order as is the burr walnut woodwork. Vintage and Prestige are proud to offer this 1952 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe Coupé coachwork by Fisher Rally Ready For Sale. Registration: XBV 961 Chassis no: 0R0772604F54Y Engine no: 0772604F54Y Mileage shown: 1182 America's best-selling motor car manufacturer at the time, Chevrolet, re-organised its line-up for 1949, rationalising the range into two Series - Special (basic) and Deluxe - both of which featured Styleline (notchback) and Fleetline (fastback) body styles. This distinction would last until the end of the 1952 season when the fastback model was dropped altogether along with the 'Styleline' name. Chevrolet's sole power unit at this time was the famous 'stovebolt', 216.5ci (3,549cc) overhead-valve six. The latter had continued unchanged for many years prior to the introduction of GM's Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission in 1951, when a 235.5ci (3.9-litre) version became available. This is a rare opportunity to own a fully specd, ready to rally Chevrolet in excellent condition. The current owner (a veteran Peking to Paris entrant) has spent in excess of £ 160,000 with Rally Preparation Services (RPS) to make this car a true contender. We collected the car directly from them post restoration and can now offer her for sale. All bills included in the sale and displayed on our website. As shows this Chevrolet has been completed to the highest of standards, the full spec is too long to list but does include: RPS Hand crafted wiring loom. Uprated Dynator Uprated Starter Motor Complete engine, Gearbox overhaul. Complete bodyshell restoration. Underseal floors, sound deadening inside. Uprated front and rear suspension. 1921 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost Pickwick Limousine RHD Registration No: DS7421 Mileometer: 25696 Chassis No: 95BG (Springfield). This 1921 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost is a very early Springfield built, Willoughby Bodied Pickwick Town car. The chassis number is 95BG and the car shows 25,700 miles on the clock which is believed to be Genuine having spent over 45 years in a museum in the USA and then being used very sparingly once in the UK. The oldest UK MOT shows 20,000 miles in 1989 and the car has only covered about 5,000 miles since then. The car is very very original and runs and drives very well with a tight taut feel to the ride & controls.. This is a rare early Springfield example with original artillery wooden wheels (one of only two) as ordered by the first owner, a Mr Tom Batchelor of Reno Nevada. The car was purchased after 45 years museum storage by the late Terry Cohn formerly of Churt. He sent the car upon arrival for a thorough recommissioning performed by Coldwell Engineering. The list of things done extends to 10 pages & clearly was a fastidious job leaving no stone unturned. In 1991 £13,000 was spent at Coldwell at a time when the labor rate was £12.00 per hour. The Artillery Wheels are in excellent order with tight spokes & are rattle free. We have treated the wheels with linseed oil to protect them & allow them to take up the moisture & prevent shrinkage. The wheels are fitted with detatchable rims with a pair of spares mounted to the running boards. The interior upholstery is all original wool cloth & is in good order given the cars age of almost 100 years. Aside from one or two bare spots on the carpets it presents very very well. A useful cocktail cabinet is fitted to the Bulkhead as is a wind up division. The dash board contains the full quotient of period instrumentation as supplied when new. Looking at the complete absence of wear on the throttle pedal & taking into account the tight feel of the chassis & long lay up period, I have no doubt that the 25k recorded miles are correct. The car really is a time warp & to drive it is to give one an idea of how these cars were when new. Oil pressure is constant at 20 psi & the car runs cool consistantly at 150degrees farenheight when at cruising speeds upon the motorway. It runs comfortably at 50MPH. We did push it for a brief moment to 65 which is credit indeed given such upright formal coachwork. The car is being supplied freshly serviced & ready for immediate extended use. A magnificent low mileage example having covered a scant 48,000 miles since new. Ordered by one Stewart Kilpatrick of Thames Ditton, he did not relinquish ownership until 1961. During the war years was put up on blocks and not used again until being re-commissioned after his death whilst being sparingly used by members of his surviving family. The Rolls Royce Phantom I Sedanca by Hooper drives beautifully with a tight taut feel to it and a strong silent powerful engine. Rolls-Royce issued their guarantee for the Rolls Royce Phantom I on 1st June 1928. Coachwork is by the King of Coachbuilders, Hooper & Co taking the form of a versatile Sedanca Deville. It is finished in cream over black with a fabric roof covering. The front interior is black leather to the front and beautiful new red leather to the rear making the cabin a sumptuous place to recline. Twin occasional seats are fitted to the rear making for seating for seven people. Pleasingly, the Rolls Royce interior retains all its original Hooper accoutrements. The woodwork is book matched Macassar Ebony of the highest quality. The original Dictaphone intercom is in its place and has been refurbished to full working order allowing those in the rear to give direction to the driver up front. Twin side mount spare wheels are fitted to the front or both running boards making for an imposing frontal appearance. Under the bonnet the Rolls Royce Phantom I Sedanca by Hooper is unchanged retaining the original under trays as fitted to the Rolls Royce Phantom I Sedanca by Hooper when new. 1960 Rolls Royce Phantom V Park Ward Limousine. Chassis number: 5AS69 Registration number: TBA Arriving soon in January. Originally commissioned for the London High Commissioner for Nigeria. This phantom is in supeb condition having been the recipient of massive expenditure to put in in the condition we find it today. The classic Masons Black paintwork is laid down over straight alloy panels with excellent alignment and fit. Getting such a large car to appear so straight in a single-tone black paint scheme is no easy task and is a testament to the quality and care given to the restoration. A single coach line in gold accents the paintwork, which is repeated on the wheel covers as per original. Chrome adornment is limited to bumpers, light trims, a subtle waist strip and of course, the prominent Rolls Royce radiator shell. A radiator-mounted flag holder hints at this cars period diplomatic duties. All of the brightwork is presented in very good order, with deep, clear reflections and no corrosion. The interior is wonderfully presented, with a black drivers compartment contrasting a cream beige passenger compartment, separated by a power divider that glides up & down at the touch of a button. The chauffeurs compartment is beautifully trimmed, in black leather. The Black Wilton carpets are in excellent order and the gorgeous woodwork provides a visual lift to the businesslike drivers office. An under-dash A/C unit keeps the driver and front passenger comfortable, while all original instruments and switchgear present in excellent order. The rear compartment is a drastic contrast to the front, with a light and airy feeling courtesy of the cream beige Connolly hides, light Wilton rugs, and plenty of glass. Integrated into the divider is a beautifully finished wood bar, an originally-fitted option which includes a pair of crystal decanters. Flanking the bar is a pair of jump seats trimmed in leather and vents for the rear-mounted air conditioning system. Door cards are in excellent order, with beautiful banded-wood caps surrounding the cabin. Rear passengers are whisked along in opulence, with gorgeous tan leather chairs, individual cigarette lighters, carpeted foot rests and a separate set of controls for the rear air conditioning system. The engine bay presents beautifully with a few modern upgrades for the sake of reliable operation. Correct finishes adorn the rocker covers, ancillaries and firewall. The car is an outstanding driver, with its previous owner using the car sparingly for shows and events. It rides on a set of Michelin X radial tires, a widely accepted modern alternative to the original crossply tires, well suited to the performance characteristics of this large limousine. The car will arrive with us in January at which time we will perform a full service upon it & rephotograph it to our ususal standards. We will also be UK registering the car. To sum up this is a car in impeccable order with the benefit of an aftermarket air-conditioning system to keep the occupants cool. It exudes gravitas in large measures & makes a real statement upon its imperious arrival. Being a 7 seat vehicle it lends itself well to events such as Henly & Ascot but is equally at home as a London limousine similar to the last one we sold. This particular DB4 Series 2 is on the market with the previous owner, Mr D Banton, having bought the car in December of 1976 and has just undergone a complete restoration through ourselves. DB4/449/R was first registered on the 17th November 1960 where it was sold to a Mrs N Cotton of Bournemouth, then sold to a Mr S Dicks of London in 1965, whereupon it was sold to Mr Richard Butt of Grays who subsequently sold it to his brother, a Mr (Roger) Butt who kept the car until 1976. Mr D Banton used the car regularly in and around London and perhaps more fitting for a car of this style, slightly further afield with trips across Europe to the French Alps for skiing holidays. In 1983 Mr D Banton sent the car for a full bare metal respray, keeping the original colour of Dubonnet Red. Other work includes receipts in the history file dating back to 1976 with hand written invoices from Ian Moss, Aston Martin specialists. Further maintenance was carried out in the late 70's with bills from Aston Martin andAston specialist Hyde Vale and later in 1996 with Ian Moss once again. Also in the history file is a copy of the buff log book, handbook and a copy of the original invoice from 1960. The DB4 was a true sports car to the DB5's Sports GT, and the values are continuing to increase in line with all classic Aston values. The Series 2 cars had some minor modifications over the original design including a front hinged bonnet (rather than the 'crocodile' bonnet of the Series 1), uprated front calipers and oil pump and an enlarged sump. Fresh from a full nut and bolt restoration, the car has had a full bare metal respray in Silver Birch, finished with black leather interior. Oselli have rebuilt the engine to 4.2 litre specification with unleaded fuel conversion, whilst lightening and balancing the engine and fitting Cosworth forged pistons. The 4 speed David Brown gearbox has been rebuilt and overdrive fitted. Electric power steering has been retrofitted, in addition to a heated rear windscreen, electronicclock, electric aerial and retro-look radio with iPod connection. It has new wire wheels with period correct Avon Turbosteel tyres, and a larger anti-roll bar to improve cornering and lessen body roll. The car has also had an oil cooler and Kenlowe electric fan installed. A fantastic opportunity to obtain one of the very best Series 2 DB4s on the market today.
