1966 Series One E Type Coupe 4.2 Litre Matching Numbers. Registration number: AHJ 270E Chassis number: 1E32523 Delivered by the factory on 11 th January 1966 and shipped to the US where it was sold in California to its first owner Jerome J Born. Subsequently in 1971 it was sold to its second owner Ralf E Vail of Santa Fe New Mexico who kept the car through until 2017 when it was acquired from his Estate and recently repatriated to the U.K. with all taxes paid. The car has always been a dry State car kept in the southwest of America and as a result it is extremely solid and sound and one that has never been rusty. It is also an incredibly straight car with very good door and bonnet gaps. Its a matching numbers car showing 57000 miles which is believed to be its genuine mileage from new. There are a number of receipts which show that car was maintained during its life and it runs well with various items of work carried out recently including a new Stainless Bell Exhaust system . The car was repainted in red and trimmed in tobacco hide about 12 years ago in its present livery although its original colour was oyster beige with a beige interior which is an extremely rare colour combination. From research carried out it is one of less than 30 cars released in this colour. Whilst not a Concours car it is an extremely solid and sound car which can be enjoyed as it is or alternatively enhanced as and when required. It is in stock now with a UK plate applied for. ![CDATA[The first major update to the 356 platform was the 356A which was introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1955 and featured a curved windscreen, slightly modified suspension and a new, more powerful, 1600cc engine. These cars also received a new instrument panel which included a tachometer, a fuel gauge and a lowered floor which helped to improve legroom. The car presented here is a 1958 356A Coupé which the previous vendor owned and campaigned for over 20 years. The car is a fast road/classic rally-prepared car with period modifications (FIVA papers 1999). This thorough conversion work was carried out by marque specialist, Barry Curtis, and is fully documented in numerous invoices in the cars history file. Some ongoing maintenance of the engine and chassis has subsequently been carried out by Barry Curtis and more recently Mike Smith of PRS Services and Tarduff Motors of Linlithgow. This striking and fabulous car has been featured in a number of magazines over the yearsincluding a major feature in Classic Car in 1998. It is powered by a 1720cc engine which, along with the running gear, was fully re-built by Barry Curtis utilising period-correct oversized aluminium pistons and barrels, Zenith NDX carburettors, an additional in-line oil filter and a bespoke Barry Curtis sports exhaust. The engine is currently set-up for fast road/rally driving with a four-speed gearbox with three close ratios and a long fourth gear. The car benefits from being rewired with 12 Volt electrics and more durable relays and electrical circuits, plus the adoption of dual-circuit brakes, B polished drums, B stub front axles, Koni Classic shock-absorbers and an uprated front anti-roll bar. Other useful features include an original 356 Carrera plexiglass rear screen with period plexiglass side windows, an aluminium engine lid, a period lightweight interior with aluminium-framed Speedster seats, a VDM aluminium steering wheel, an Eberspacher petrol heater and a complete rally navigatorsinstrument panel with lighting, switchgear, auxiliary power and original Halda Speedpilot and Tripmaster timing gear. The car currently sits on chrome wheels (+ spare) with Avon CR6 ZZ tyres. The bodywork was lightly refreshed in 2015 by Peter OMalley of the Eastern-Western Group in Edinburgh. Peter stated that the car is the best 356 he and his team have ever worked on! If a new owner wanted to potentially return the car to nearer its factory-spec, some rare original parts do come with it including the wooden floorboards and ribbed rubber over-mats, glove-box door and fittings, radio blanking plate, sun visors etc. The car has proven abilities and excellent provenance, being well-known in endurance rally circles and having participated in the Liège-Rome- Liège, Coupes des Alpes, Monte-Carlo, Classic Marathon and Classic Malts amongst others, and, as it features period modifications only, it is eligible for prestige endurance rallies where originality can be a bit of an issue. It was retired fromrallying in 2008 and has been dry-stored, run-up and used only occasionally since. This charismatic little Porsche comes with masses of history, restoration photographs, invoices and other documentation supporting its adventures and it has always been serviced and maintained to the highest standards, regardless of cost.]]

![CDATA[The Mercedes-Benz 190 SL, together with the 300 SL, made history at the New York International Motor Sports Show in February 1954 by being the first new production Mercedes- Benz to be unveiled outside of Germany. The impression given by the 190 SL, alongside the bigger 300 SL, was neat, sporty and with dashing lines. Despite opinions, the statistics tell their own tale as between May 1955 and February 1963, 25,881 of these cars were produced - it was a huge success for Mercedes-Benz. Its engine boasted four inline cylinders with a chain driven overhead camshaft and two Solex carburettors delivering a respectable 108bhp for that era. The lines were exquisite and it was universally acclaimed for its design and performance. This spectacular 190 SL has only had two owners throughout its 57 years on the road. Finished in the striking colour combination of white with contrasting blue leather interior, this car looks superb on a hot sunny day with the roof down. On sending the car to RichardMiles, the Wandsworth-based and well respected factory trained Mercedes-Benz specialist for a service, he declared that this was one of the very best example he had come across and was in fact one of the few 190s he had seen that had not suffered with corrosion at any stage of its life. These cars have a reputation for being uncomplicated mechanically and any parts required can generally be sourced via various Owners Clubs and Mercedes-Benz themselves. These are truly classy cars of the period, this most elegant of sporting tourers simply awaits its next custodian.]]
