Robin Lawton Vintage & Classic Cars are proud to Offer for Sale: Ex-Works Competition Department 1935 Riley TT Sprite AVC 19 - Chassis Number 22T1750 (one of 7 Works-built models) prepared to Original Specification. FIA, FIVA, HTP, VSCC We are proud and excited to bring to the market one of the most original Riley Team Cars AVC 19 which has just been the subject of a fastidious and long awaited restoration to original specification. The car now looks just at it did in 1935 when it made its race debut at the 1935 Tourist Trophy driven by Von der Becke and finishing a creditable 9th against some extremely formidable competition. The complete rebuild of this car, which was finished just over a week ago, was only possible because Robin Lawton Vintage & Classic Cars - were able to assist with securing the acquisition of numerous original components both body and mechanical which had hitherto been unavailable for at least the past 40 years! This Riley has a distinguished race history which includes: 1935 Tourist Trophy, 1936 French Grand Prix (finishing 3rd in the under 2 litre class), 1936 Tourist Trophy, 1937 Le Mans 24 Hours, 1937 French Grand Prix, 1937 Montlhery, 1945 Paris Benoist Cup and following an earlier restoration which was completed in 2009 the car was campaigned at Prescott and several other VSCC Events by Riley guru, Allen Clear. Significant historic competition cars always great create interest, but it is rare to find a car with such comprehensive and fully documented provenance dating back over 80 years. Many Evocations of the delectable TT Sprite have been created over the years but this is a true original with a virtually unrivalled pedigree in its class. Background on the car has been extensively researched and it is believed that this car, chassis 22T1750 was constructed in the Riley Works Competition Department using the chassis from the 6 cylinder Works MPH Racer - KV9478. The evidence for this is the fact that the nearside dumb iron shows evidence of the reuse of the chassis: 22T1750 is stamped on the side with evidence of 44T2128 stamped on the top of the dumb iron. There is also evidence that appears to show where the MPH chassis had its brackets for the front axle radius arms removed showing that AVC 19 was built up from KV9478 using parts available at the time. The aforementioned MPH had competed in the 1934 Le Mans before being dismantled by the works in the summer of 1935 with AVC 19 (chassis number 22T1750 being registered by the Riley Works in May 1936). There is the most substantial and fully documented history of the car, which is available, under separate cover, for interested parties. We also have photograph albums, historic notes and invoices which can be inspected at The Garage. Robin Lawton Vintage & Classic Cars is delighted to have been involved and able to work closely with the restorer and owners who led the project. Aston Martin V8 Vantage Zagato Chassis:- 20045 Engine No:- V580/0045/X First registered:- March 1988 Mileage:- 4,200 / Kilometres:- 6,700 Owners:- 2 Exterior:- Blue Sera (special colour only one) Interior:- Slate Grey with blue carpet and Alcantara Background: Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1986, the V8 Vantage Zagato coupe rekindled the relationship between Aston Martin and the famed Italian styling house Zagato, a relationship first created with the collaboration of the two brands in 1960 with the DB4GT Zagato and which continues, through the DB7 Zagato and V12 Vantage Zagato to this day, with the current Vanquish Zagato. Announced as a limited edition of 50 production cars and built to compete with the contemporary and extreme performance models from Ferrari, in the form of the 288GTO and Porsches 959 models. The 1st production prototype Vantage Zagato, was independently timed at 186 mph, on a deserted Autoroute by Sport Auto magazine that year and accelerated from 0-60 mph in just 4.8 seconds. Ultimately 50 production cars and 2 prototypes were built. The 432 bhp version of the renowned Aston Martin V8 Vantage X pack engine propelled the shorter, lighter weight and more aerodynamically bodied chassis of the Vantage Zagato. Resulting in an agile and extreme performance experience. Driver focused handling and road holding, braking, acceleration and top speed, were just some of the benefits enjoyed by the 50 lucky owners. Developed with the aid of wind tunnel testing the handsome body shape divided opinion in 1986 but has proved, as with previous Zagato bodied cars, to have stood the test of time and now acquired true collectors status. The car offered: The car we are offering, chassis No:-0045 was built to order for the first owner, a family member of the founder of German media group Axel Springer and was primarily driven on trips between Germany and the UK, prior to changing hands in 1990 with 4,500 kilometres recorded. Sold via Aston Martins London showrooms, to the second and last owner it has remained in a world-class collection until today. Maintained and cared for by the last owners resident technicians and used only on special occasions, this car remained his pride and joy, until his passing. One of the last built examples and 1 of only 21, original LHD cars built. The car has a total of 4,000 miles / 6,500 kilometres recorded and has just received a major service and preparation by Aston Martin Heritage agents, prior to being offered for sale. A comprehensive schedule of these works is supplied, complete with its original owners handbooks and service booklet, spare wheel, tool roll and jack. Within the history file are photographs taken in 1990, recording the last owner personally taking delivery from Victor Gauntlett, then Chairman and co-owner of Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd. The lowest mileage LHD car known, this model is one of Aston Martins greatest driving cars, created with performance and exclusivity in mind. Over the last 30 years the X pack- engine Vantage Zagato, has gained legendary status and forms the basis of many Aston Martin collections worldwide, with a superb example having been displayed at the Villa DEste Concour d elegance in 2016.

*** New Price *** A truly spectacular example of these wonderfully elegant 'slope back' Bentley Continental's - and most unusually this one sports a pair of rear wheel Spats too The history folder is quite excellent, with original correspondence from the very earliest portion of BC41BG's life Originally supplied through Mayfair and World renowned dealership Jack Barclay there are within the folder many service records, internal memorandums and also the original sales contract - its all really quite charming to behold The first owner exchanged his 'D' series 'R' Type Continental plus a wad of money for this, the then latest and most up to date Continental available at the time - how times change and now his original car is worth twice the value of this, the replacement I wonder which is really the better car - the S1 Fastback is certainly far rarer than the 'R' Type Continental JB's supplied her to the first 3 owners, it would seem from the papers and serviced her throughout - by 1960 over 52.000 miles had been covered It's funny how many visitors ask us here in the Mews whether these old cars can cope with regular use - when you look at the number of vehicles which have covered over 17.000 per annum, like this did in the first 3 years, it really makes one wonder what they thought these cars, or their owners, did all those years ago? The last two custodians of BC41BG are very well known to us here in Kensington, the former carrying out a full suspension overhaul as well as a complete engine rebuild at his local specialists near to his home in Colchester (5.000 miles only since these works were completed) and the most recent engaged us to strip her to bare metal, repaint her beautifully (making the new rear wheel Spats at this time) and also to completely re-trim the interior and boot compartments She presents, almost to perfection, whilst on the road she performs with quite astonishing aplomb - the freshly rebuilt engine is delightfully quiet and smooth, matching perfectly the seemless gearbox operation The interior is, to quote the wonderful Noel Coward, "quite devine" and a most comfortable place in which to travel; again it has to be acknowledged that the S1 Continental does take a lot of beating All in all this is one of the very nicest, if not possibly the very nicest, Fastback S1 we have come across and for the next custodian, we can confirm she gathers rather a lot of attention, from all the right people and in just the right way too
