1922 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost Tourer Registration number: AJ8865 Chassis number: 12YG A magnificent Rolls Royce Silver Ghost tourer that has remained under the last ownership since 1991. The car has just arrived & has been dispatched to The Priory Vintage Car Co for a full service prior to running in the forthcoming 100 miles of Amsterdam at the end of the month. Once the car returns we will finish detailing it & properly photograph it. The car has a post war barrel sided torpedo touring body fitted to it made from Aluminum over traditional ash framing. The body is well executed & rakish in the extreme. The paint is recently redone in Burgundy over Black so presents beautifully. To the interior is sumptuous newish buttoned maroon leather to all the seating surfaces with maroon carpets to the rear & black rubber floor matting to the front. A side mounted spare sits on the running board as does a cabinet maker built open dovetailed battery box. The mahogany dash board contains a full quotient of period instrumentation. Mechanically the car is very very sound having been looked after by the current owner who cut his teeth at Romseys famed Jack 'O Lantern garage. The engine is very quiet & starts readily. Oil pressure is excellent & the car runs cool. A full-length split tonneau cover comes with the car. The hood of black canvas is in good condition & erects easily for inclement motoring. A hood bag keeps the ensemble tidy when in the down position. All in all a wonderful car in super order throughout & ready for extensive touring. .. 1937 Rolls Royce Phantom 3 Barker Razor Edge Sedanca. Chassis number: 3-CP-186 Registration number: MMN425W Forming part of a small collection, this car has been maintained without regard to expense. Indeed it has recently had a very high quality repaint with over £35k being spent upon the car to take it back to bare metal prior to refinishing in its original clours of pale yellow & Masons black. Coachwork is a particularly graceful sedanca by famed coachbuilders Barker & co featuring razor edged lines to the rear roof & boot area. The boot folds open revealing a large luggage area & also has provision for additional cases to be strapped to the surface of the open boot lid. The V12 engine is in fine fettle running cool & quietly whilst starting readily & simply wafting one down the road. Some small tools are present under the drivers & passengers seats. Indicated mileage is 65,199 as of time of writing. The dash board is burr walnut & has the typical oval centre used by Barker on cars of this period. To the interior is beige hide throughout of recent origin & particularly pleasant large expanses of burr walnut to the passenger compartment. An electric division glides up & down to separate the working quarters from the rear seats. Occasional tables, an occasional seat & twin foot rests are fitted to the car. Resplendent with its full set of colour coded ace whel discs, the car presents beautifully & has huge presence on the road. A good phantom 3 in fine order really is the pinnacle of pre war Rolls Royce motoring & this is a great example of the genre. A gallery of large high-resolution pictures may be viewed on our website. 1924 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost Arthur Mulliner enclosed drive limousine. Originally registered to one F. J. Ward. a rubber magnate living at "Wansfell" in Theydon Bois. Long Chassis number AU21 Registration Number PU5650 Engine Number U17 A spectacular car that has in the last few years been restored to an incredibly high standard. The coachwork is by Arthur Mulliner of Northampton & is in the form of an enclosed drive limousine; well proportioned & with pleasing lines. The bills that come with the car are eye-watering. £64,000 on the engine alone for example. The engine was completely disassembled by Marque specialists Ristes of Nottingham & then rebuilt to an as-new standard. Everything that could be done was done. without regard being given to cost. Since then the engine has run just 2000 miles & is just run in. I took this car to france on an extended jaunt through Normandy "en Famille" & can attest ot how well it runs devouring big mileage days with aplomb. Similar attention to detail was given to the chassis. braking system & every mechanical part on the car. Thus the car is in impeccable order & ready for the next few hundred thousand miles of its life. It is fitted with new brake shoes to the 4 wheel brakes & also new tyres. Correct leather gaiters cover the springs fore & aft. The exterior is black over a vivid blue & is in fine condition. Twin side mounts are fitted to the running boards & a commodious Brexton trunk re-manufactured to new standard adorns the rear. The front screen is in a vee configuration comprising 4 panels two of which hinge open for summer motoring. The interior is where the car becomes really special; the front is black leather. with black leather insets. embossed with a leaf motif. To the rear is Bedford cord with the leaf motif being carried on, embroidered in gold thread, to the doors & also roof lining. An oval theme also is found throughout the car with ovals to the door inserts. an oval rear window & a beautifully curved division in the form of two sliding curved glass panels. The graceful curve of the dash provides the concave answer to that of the convex division. effectivly making the drivers compartment also oval in plan. Most spectacular of all is the woodwork which is of a quality of its own. Both fiddleback mahogany & burr walnut are used in a copious manner adorning all surfaces including a complete edge ceiling cornice. Satinwood marquetry banding is let into the main wood areas by way of an accent. The roof woodwork has alcoves let into it containing lights that throw a soft glow across the ceiling for nocturnal use. Additionally the ceiling has a centre mounted opening skylight or "smokers hatch" as it was known in those days. The front doors unusually are hinged from the A posts. Other attractive features include the three scuttle mounted air vents. The Lucas light fixtures are all silver plated. The door handles are of superb quality. embossed as they are with acanthus leaf motifs in raised relief. A stunning collectors grade car with everything that can be done. already done. making for an expense & trouble free ownership experience for the next fortunate keeper. Cars of this quality rarely come along!!! The car is due with us just after April 22nd when it has a wedding to atttend bearing the fortunate bride. .. 1960 Rolls Royce Phantom V Park Ward Limousine. Chassis number: 5AS69 Registration number: TBA Arriving soon in January. Originally commissioned for the London High Commissioner for Nigeria. This phantom is in supeb condition having been the recipient of massive expenditure to put in in the condition we find it today. The classic Masons Black paintwork is laid down over straight alloy panels with excellent alignment and fit. Getting such a large car to appear so straight in a single-tone black paint scheme is no easy task and is a testament to the quality and care given to the restoration. A single coach line in gold accents the paintwork, which is repeated on the wheel covers as per original. Chrome adornment is limited to bumpers, light trims, a subtle waist strip and of course, the prominent Rolls Royce radiator shell. A radiator-mounted flag holder hints at this cars period diplomatic duties. All of the brightwork is presented in very good order, with deep, clear reflections and no corrosion. The interior is wonderfully presented, with a black drivers compartment contrasting a cream beige passenger compartment, separated by a power divider that glides up & down at the touch of a button. The chauffeurs compartment is beautifully trimmed, in black leather. The Black Wilton carpets are in excellent order and the gorgeous woodwork provides a visual lift to the businesslike drivers office. An under-dash A/C unit keeps the driver and front passenger comfortable, while all original instruments and switchgear present in excellent order. The rear compartment is a drastic contrast to the front, with a light and airy feeling courtesy of the cream beige Connolly hides, light Wilton rugs, and plenty of glass. Integrated into the divider is a beautifully finished wood bar, an originally-fitted option which includes a pair of crystal decanters. Flanking the bar is a pair of jump seats trimmed in leather and vents for the rear-mounted air conditioning system. Door cards are in excellent order, with beautiful banded-wood caps surrounding the cabin. Rear passengers are whisked along in opulence, with gorgeous tan leather chairs, individual cigarette lighters, carpeted foot rests and a separate set of controls for the rear air conditioning system. The engine bay presents beautifully with a few modern upgrades for the sake of reliable operation. Correct finishes adorn the rocker covers, ancillaries and firewall. The car is an outstanding driver, with its previous owner using the car sparingly for shows and events. It rides on a set of Michelin X radial tires, a widely accepted modern alternative to the original crossply tires, well suited to the performance characteristics of this large limousine. The car will arrive with us in January at which time we will perform a full service upon it & rephotograph it to our ususal standards. We will also be UK registering the car. To sum up this is a car in impeccable order with the benefit of an aftermarket air-conditioning system to keep the occupants cool. It exudes gravitas in large measures & makes a real statement upon its imperious arrival. Being a 7 seat vehicle it lends itself well to events such as Henly & Ascot but is equally at home as a London limousine similar to the last one we sold.
