The Rover P5 series was produced from 1958 until 1973. Models were marketed under the names Rover 3 litre and Rover 3½ litre. The final iteration of the P5 appeared in September 1967. Now powered by the 3528cc Rover V8 engine also used in the P6 3500, the car was badged as the 3.5 Litre, and commonly known as the 3½ litre. The final letter in the P5B model name came from Buick, the engine's originator. The Borg Warner Type-35 automatic transmission, hydrosteer variable ratio power steering were now standard. Output of 160bhp was claimed along with improved torque. When compared to its predecessor, the aluminium engine enabled the car to offer improved performance and fuel economy resulting both from the greater power and the lesser weight of the power unit. The exterior was mostly unchanged, apart from bold '3.5 Litre' badging, a pair of fog lights which were added below the head lights, creating a striking four light array and the fitting of chrome Rostyle wheels with black painted inserts.Originally registered on 13th March 1973 this Rover is in very good order throughout. The Zircon Blue paintwork is in good order showing no signs of corrosion and the ample chromework is in delightful condition. The spacious grey leather interior is in comparable condition to the rest of the car. Supplied originally by Henlys in London, this P5B Coupé has been fitted with a manual choke in place of the often troublesome AED unit. This Rover was featured in Classic Car Weekly in August 2017 and is supplied with a V5C registration document and some invoices for work carried out; we are advised by the vendor she will be presented for an MoT test prior to the auction. The original service book and handbook are incorporated in the history folder. The silent comfortable ride meant this was a very popular mode of transport for government ministers and the Royal family.]]

1968 Rover 3.5 V8 P5B Coupe Automatic. Stone Grey over Burgundy with Buckskin leather upholstery. Launched at the 1958 Motor Show, the P5 Saloon marked a new departure for Rover as it employed a monocoque construction rather than the separate chassis of the old P4. Dubbed the middle class Rolls-Royce, the P5B version produced from 1967 until 1973 had a larger Buick-derived 3.5-litre V8 under the bonnet in place of the original 3-litre six and really gave the car the go to match the show. With 160bhp and plenty of effortless grunt under his right foot, the chauffeur could waft his passengers to 110mph and crack 60 in under 11 seconds, even with the mandatory auto box. For the more caddish toffs, Rover also produced the P5B in four-door coupe style with a slightly lower roof-line, slimmer chromed window surrounds, twin-armchair rear seats and additional dash instruments, this being the most collectable variant today. Some 20,600 P5Bs were sold before production came to an end in 1973, with just 9,000being in the desirable Coupe style. The indicated mileage is 44,000 which is great as it's low enough to be remarkable but not so low that you have to think twice before using the car. Supplied new on January 1st 1968 this P5B was passed from father to son and stayed with the family until 2013 some 45 years, the current V5 showing just two previous owners from new, we also have on file copies of the V5 log books issued for the car. There is a large history file with lots of bills, invoices and old mot certificates which back up the low mileage of just 44,000 which is believed to be correct. The previous keeper purchased the car and then embarked on a full body restoration focusing on good panels gaps and replacing any metalwork before respraying the car. The car was only used occasionally for classic car runs and shows and has covered less than 100 miles since the work was completed. Used by government ministers and royalty on a regular basis, these quintessentially British Rovers are supremelycomfortable to drive with a simple and uncluttered instrument layout where virtually everything is at your finger tips. This example is a example and we would doubt a more original car is available in such condition. This represents a unique opportunity for any collector and viewing is strongly recommended. The car positively shouts Buy Me with its gleaming paintwork and buckskin upholstery. Inevitably, as the prices of good P5Bs creep ever higher now may be as good a time as any to join the party. Absolutely any inspection is welcome. All major debit cards accepted. Free U.K mainland delivery.

1969 Rover 3.5 P5B Coupe Automatic. Silver Birch over Factory Black with Mulberry leather upholstery and barley carpets. This super Rover has just recently been re-commissioned after four years in a private collection and the car has covered only 1500 miles in the last twelve years. The paintwork is displaying a deep shine and the leather upholstery very good with no rips or tears, also a new set of carpets has just been fitted. The engine is very strong with good oil pressure, the gearbox smooth and no whines or noises from the axle. The 3½ Litre saloon variant was a favourite of high-ranking Government Ministers, and served as Prime Ministerial transport for Harold Wilson, Edward Heath, James Callaghan and Margaret Thatcher. As testament to their suitability, the last batch of P5Bs to roll off the Rover line in June 1973 was purchased by the British government and placed in storage, to be released for government use as required, subsequently registered relatively new looking P5s were thereforestill familiar sights in Westminster for more than a decade after production had ended. When Margaret Thatcher entered Downing Street in 1979 after her election victory, she was driven in a 1972 model. It was during Thatcher's eleven-year tenure that the P5 was eventually phased out as a Prime-Ministerial car, in favour of the Jaguar XJ. Queen Elizabeth II also owns an Arden Green Rover P5B Saloon "JGY 280", which is on display at the Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon, Warwickshire and was seen in the 18 May 2003 episode of BBC motoring show, Top Gear. The top end of the market now sees these cars in excess of £30000 so we see this car at very good value at the asking price. Absolutely any inspection is welcome. All major debit cards accepted.
