Peter Vardy Heritage is delighted to offer this outstanding Rolls Royce Corniche Convertible finished in stunning Nugget Gold with Black vinyl hood and contrasting Black Anela Leather. Rarely do we offer a motor car that has such a comprehensive history file. Every detail of this car's life appears to be in there including the Confirmation of Order letter dated 4th November 1971 from official Rolls-Royce dealer J.D Barclay in Banbury to the first owner Mr. Sylvester, a gentleman farmer from Hampshire. Mr. Sylvester kept meticulous records and they include the original purchase receipt for the car dated 19th December 1972 for the sum of 14,541.85, which at the time was not insignificant bearing in mind a brand new E-Type Jaguar was around 3,000. In addition to confirming the car's original order specification, leather', the receipt also details a full tank of petrol (100 litres) for the grand total of 8.50! The history file also includes two unused inchMotor Fuel ration booksinch for use during the1973 Oil crisis. First registered on the 1st January 1973, Mr. Sylvester had the car regularly serviced regardless of his low usage and fastidiously kept every service receipt and invoice. The history file reads like a Who's Who of Rolls-Royce main dealers including J.D. Barclay, Rolls-Royce at Crewe, Phantom Motor Cars, Frank Dale & Sons, and Hanwells of London. 1981 Rolls-Royce Corniche LHD Finished in stunning Highland Green Trimmed in Sandalwood with Green piping Sublime 6.7 litre V8 Books and tools 52,000 miles only from new Rolls-Roycebuilt the Corniche using the best traditions of British coach-building, only using materials of the finest quality, including Wilton carpeting, Connolly hide and burr walnut veneers, a necessarily lengthy process that took all of 20 weeks for the saloon and slightly longer for the more complex convertible. This painstaking attention to detail resulted in a price some 50% higher than the standard Silver Shadow. Nevertheless, demand for these more glamorous alternatives to the much more numerous Silver Shadow was strong right from the start. Designed to be the Worlds best Cabriolet, the name 'Corniche' was chosen because it symbolises the epitome of stylish touring and together with the higher cruising speeds and the ability to cover greater distances with the minimum of fatigue for driver and passengers, announcedRolls-Royce. The car we are proud to offer for sale today was supplied new to the first owner, Mr William M Dearman, of Edmond Oklahoma city USA on the 4th August 1981 by Jackie Cooper imports. The car has been finished from new in Highland green and trimmed in Sandalwood Connolly Hide piped Green. This example to this day remains in the same beautiful colour combination. With its powerful V8, 6.7 litre engine, automatic gearbox and beautiful interior our Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertible is ready to be enjoyed by its new owner. The Rolls-Royce Corniche was a front-engine, rear wheel drive five-seater produced by Rolls-Royce Motors as a coup and convertible from 1971 to 1995. It acted as a development of the 1965 Silver Shadow, being produced with two doors instead of four. The Corniche draws its name from the French and Italian term for a corniche, a coastal road, especially along the face of a cliff, most notably the Grande Corniche along the French Riviera above the principality of Monaco The Corniche was designed by in-house stylist John Blatchley and hand built by coachbuilder Mulliner Park Ward in Willesden, North London. Each Corniche took four months to build, with two weeks alone being spent creating the convertible roof. As a result, it is considered by many as the last of the true 'coach built cars'. Underneath the redesigned skin, the Corniche shared many mechanical components with its four-door sibling, the Silver Shadow. 1981 Rolls Royce Corniche Convertible Left Hand Drive. Chassis Number: CCX05026 Registration Number: TAW579X A mint low mileage example with just 36,000 miles from new. The car was supplied new to Phoenix Arizona where it spent its life in an air-conditioned garage with service work being performed by main dealers RR/Bentley of Scottsdale. The car was acquired by the current owner for use at his southern Spain mansion near Puerto Banus. He searched long & hard to find an impeccable mint example, eventually purchasing this car after looking at quite a variety of lesser examples. It is now being sold as a 2013 Rolls Royce Phantom is taking over the alfresco motoring duties. Finished in pale Carribean blue, the bodywork is unmarked. To the interior is unmarked magnolia leather piped in dark Blue with a blue dash top roll & royal blue carpets. The hood & hood bag are both dark blue & in perfect as new condition. Highly figured burr walnut is used for the dash & door tops along with satinwood cross banding. The car is as tidy under the bonnet as elsewhere. It drives beautifully & exactly as one would expect of such a car. This is a mint example that wants for nothing & will pass any inspection with flying colours. It is in Southern Spain near Puero Banus where it may be viewed by prior appointment. We can deliver it anywhere in Europe. It will be sold freshly serviced & ready for immediate use.
