Vintage and Prestige are proud to offer this 1936 Rolls-Royce 25/30 Razor Edge Sports Saloon by H.J. Mulliner For Sale. Chassis no: GXM18 Engine no: N22P Registration: DJJ 500 Latest in the line of 'small' Rolls-Royces that had begun with the 'Twenty' in 1922, the much-revised 25/30hp arrived in 1936. The newcomer was a development of the immediately preceding 20/25hp model that had been introduced in 1929 featuring an enlarged (from 3,127 to 3,699cc) and more-powerful cross-flow version of its predecessor's six-cylinder, overhead-valve engine. Eventually the trend towards increasingly weighty coachwork prompted Rolls-Royce to revise the 20/25. Raising engine capacity to 4,257cc provided the required power increase while the policy of using more proprietary components begun towards the end of 20/25 production saw the new 25/30 adopt a Stromberg carburetor and SU fuel pumps. In its superlative build quality and all other respects the new Rolls-Royce 25/30 remained much as its immediate predecessor, lasting in production until 1939 by which time 1,201 cars had been built. This particular Rolls-Royce 25/30 chassis number 'GXM18' carries rakish sports saloon coachwork in razor-edge style by H.J. Mulliner & Co of Chiswick, one of the finest British coachbuilders of all time. First ordered by H.G. Sicklemore although he never actually took delivery. DJJ was then bought by Stanley Augustus Holloway, OBE who was an English stage and film actor, humourist, singer poet and monologist. DJJ 500 was exported to California, spending 40 years in a warm and dry climate before returning to the UK in 2008. Since returning comprehensive works have been carried out, including a engine rebuild by Hamlin & Co of Bridgewater, at the same time the body was removed and the chassis was subject to a complete strip down and restoration. The one shot lubrication system and fuel pumps have also recently been rebuilt. In our showroom and ready for viewing. A gallery of large high-resolution pictures may be viewed on our website. 1933 Rolls Royce 20/25 Windovers Limousine Chassis number: GRW77 Registration number: JJ6374 Just out of long-term French ownership where the car has seen little use in recent years mostly performing duties for family weddings etc. We picked the car up from a French manoir & have sepnt considerable time & money having it Recommissioned. This included fitting a new radiator core painstakingly fabricated by Vintage Wings & Radiators of Manchester. The car has been thoroughly done through mechanically & is now in good running order. Coachwork is by Windovers & takes the form of a formal 7 seat limousine. This is a very original feeling car under the last ownership for over 30 years. To the rear is original grey cloth with original black leater to the front. The shock absorbers have also been rebuilt & had their internals replaced. All woodwork is present & in good order. New exhaust parts are currently being fitted where required & the car being given a full tune up in addition to having had all fluids changed. The company's dictum of "make everything as beautifully as possible and charge accordingly" was maintained in the new 20/25 model which carried over its predecessor's conventional chassis layout. The engine was bored out to 3,669cc, the straight six being remarkably smooth and quiet as was to be expected of a Rolls-Royce. The performance was markedly improved over the 20hp model, the basic engine and gearbox configuration forming the basis for the superb 'Derby' Bentley which the firm unveiled in 1933. Produced alongside the Phantom II and built to the same exacting standards, the 20/25 benefited from many of the larger model's developments (such as synchromesh on 3rd and 4th from 1933, mechanically servo-assisted brakes, centralised chassis lubrication and thermostatically controlled radiator shutters), becoming the best-selling Rolls-Royce of the inter-war period with some 3,827 leaving Crewe before the more powerful 25/30 came along. This 20/25 was bodied by Park Ward with their formal six-lightlimousine coachwork. The factory records indicate that it was delivered new in 1935 to Lord Whitburgh. Born Thomas Borthwick, Whitburgh's father had been given the hereditary title for services to the Liberal Party north of the border, but the family's wealth had been created from the import of frozen meat from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa in their own refrigerated ships. The transport of frozen carcasses was far more efficient than trying to keep animals fit and healthy on the sea voyage and they made millions of pounds from the meat trade, their company having offices in Smithfield Market, London. This Park Ward Limousine was delivered directly from the coachbuilders to the Connaught Hotel, the vehicle migrating at some point later in its life to the Southampton area. Since acquisition, he has enjoyed spending time sorting out many finer details, improving the paintwork, interior trim, woodwork and underbonnet detailing. This very nicely turned-out example has been regularly exercisedand has proven extremely reliable.

1935 Rolls Royce 20 / 25 six light saloon by Thrupp & Maberly. Finished in two tone White and Black with brown hide interior. The interior has been recently re-trimmed in Brown hide and looks very smart, the original Fawn carpets remain and are in excellent order as is the interior woodwork. Mechanically the car is as it should be, driving well with all gauges reading correctly. Offered with paperwork including copies of the original Rolls Royce build sheets detailing the specification, building and testing of the car and drivers handbook. Being a sports saloon without a division both front seats are adjustable making her a very drivable car suited to touring. Overall a very attractive, smart and usable example which would also make an excellent carriage for weddings. Just had brand new clutch fitted.
