The BMC Mini Cooper has been a long-standing pillar of the British Automotive world from the day it was launched in 1959 until the final car rolled off the production line in 2000. Originally designed for the British Motor Corporation by Sir Alec Issigonis the cars were manufactured in a number of countries; including England, Australia, Spain, Belgium, Italy, Malta, Portugal, South Africa, Paraguay, Venezuela, and Yugoslavia. The marque itself went through a number of iterations over the years of production - originally badged as Austin Sevens and Morris Mini-Minor, the Austin Seven was renamed the Austin Mini in 1962 before Mini became a marque in its own right in 1969. In 1980 the car became the Austin Mini again before finally being badged as a Rover Mini in 1988. Famous for its rallying pedigree, the Mini was involved in a highly controversial dispute in the 1966 Monte Carlo Rally in 1966 the first-place car was disqualified for improper headlight height. Thus marring the mini's streak, havingwon the rally in 1964, 1965 - however the car would return to win again in 1967. The car we have on offer is a Cooper Sport that was produced very late in the production run, having been registered in late September of 2000 - with the final car rolling off the line on October 4th of the same year, signalling the end of a production run that saw 5,387,862 cars produced in total. Finished in a stunning, deep metallic Blue with a Black and Grey interior the car is instantly eye catching. However, by far and away the most important part of this car's story is its ownership history and mileage - the car has been passed through 3 generations of the same family that ordered it and took delivery of the car when it was new. Having turned only 308 miles from new, the car is in absolutely incredible condition. The car is to be sold with original books and a sheaf of paperwork including MOTs and Service documentation.
