Originally launched at the 1953 Motor Show, the MG TF was greeted with mixed reactions from enthusiasts and journalists alike. To the Abingdon engineers, led by Cecil Cousins, it was a model that was sufficiently different from its predecessors and yet continued the traditional T-Series classic lines. The end result was a car very pleasing to the eye; interior wise and in keeping with the external modifications, the cockpit layout was quite radically changed to that of its predecessor and formed a comfortable and pleasant place to be. Individually adjustable seats were provided in place of the normal bench type seating and the facia panel was completely new with a welcome return to octagonal instrumentation. Often referred to as 'the last of the square riggers' the MG TF gained this title due to its very strong resemblance to the pre-war MG Midgets. This delightful MG TF was subject to a high quality restoration between 1989 and 1992, the quality of that restoration is evident from the conditionthe car is presented in today. A number of attractive upgrades have been added to make the car more usable with the possibility of light competition work. These upgrades include a 1500cc XPEG engine that has been balanced and converted to unleaded fuel, this was carried out by the renowned MG specialists, Brown and Gammons. Included in the engine build is a Laystall alloy cylinder head, an uprated camshaft and twin SU carburettors. Further improvements include a tubular exhaust, front disc brakes, chrome wire wheels and bespoke grey leather interior. There is a full set of weather equipment, hood, side screens and tonneau cover, trimmed in blue Mohair. Where this MG TF becomes, as far as we know, unique, is that all of the outer non-structural panel work is of alloy construction. A large history file accompanies this MG and includes an owners manual, workshop manual, invoices and a UK V5C registration document. Presented in exceptional condition, not only does this MG look the part but it is also acapable performer due to the sensible upgrades, making this one of the most usable TFs on the road. ]]

When the MGA arrived in 1955, it must have come as quite a shock to MG purists who had become accustomed to the pre-war look of the company's sports cars. It was a complete departure in styling and its beautiful streamlined body was right up to the minute in terms of appearance. It was powered by a new engine; MG had decided that the old XPAG unit had had its day and so introduced a much more modern B-series engine that had made its debut in the recently announced Magnette saloon. The 'A' was officially launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1955. Only 5,869 cars were sold on the home market, giving the MGA the highest export percentage of any British car and was replaced by the MGB in May 1962. Originally supplied to the U.S. and repatriated to the UK in 2016, this car underwent a major restoration immediately upon its return. The bodywork was repaired or refabricated where necessary and painted in black which has an excellent finish. The interior has been trimmed in contrasting burgundyresulting in a superb colour combination. The 1600cc engine has been fully rebuilt and converted to run on unleaded fuel, a five speed gearbox has been fitted for comfortable motoring on long journeys. Photographic evidence of the rebuild is in the history file which, by any standards, is significant with all of the invoices available confirming the restoration. Now in righthand drive format, this superb MGA is supplied with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until April 2020. An excellent example of a great British sportscar of the 60s. ]]
