![CDATA[Lamborghini wanted to include a four seat, grand tourer to the model line-up which included the Miura and the 400GT; this came to fruition in the spring of 1968 when the Espada was exhibited at the Geneva motor show. A very distinctive design by Marcello Gandini of Bertone, it was radical in appearance yet extremely practical. With 150mph performance from the 3.9 litre, V12 engine, five-speed gearbox, chassis-mounted rear axle and all-independent, coil spring suspension, it was built as a high performance supercar. During its ten year production, 1,217 examples were built and three different series produced. These were the S1 (19681970), the S2 (19701972) and the S3 (19721978). Each model featured engine power improvements but only minor details were changed with the exterior design. The interior was altered dramatically between each model. An all new dashboard and steering wheel was installed for the S2 and the interior was again revamped for the S3. In 1970, power steering was offered asan option and in 1974 an automatic gearbox was also offered. This barn find Lamborghini was purchased by the one registered keeper in 1972 and has covered only 31,607 warranted mileage. In 1986, the car was parked in his garage, when he went to start the Lamborghini the battery was flat and he never used the car again. Having been dry stored the car has little corrosion although a full restoration will be required. The spark plugs have recently been removed from the engine and a little lubricant put in each cylinder, the engine was then turned by hand. The beige leather trim appears to be in quite good order. There were only 575 Series 2 Espadas manufactured, of these a mere 58 were righthand drive format making this car exceedingly rare. This low mileage Lamborghini is a great specification benefitting from both power steering and air conditioning. This is a fabulous opportunity to purchase a classic 70s sports car and with prices currently well in excess of £200,000 for restored car, this couldwell prove to be a superb investment. The car comes supplied with a V5C registration document, a couple of previous MoT test certificates and some photos of when the car was delivered new, bearing the current registration mark of MMC 50L.]]
