1975Jensen Interceptor III Convertible (LHD) for sale in London Fabulous condition throughout 1 of just 267 Convertible MK III examples built Sold with its original handbook and service book Finished in the beautiful colour scheme of Platinum Silver with Dark Blue hide The iconic Jensen Interceptor is a highly regarded British sporting GT-class motor car. These stunning cars were hand-built at the Kelvin Way Factory in West Bromwich England by Jensen Motors between 1966 and 1976. The Interceptor name had been used previously by Jensen for the Jensen Interceptor made between 1950 and 1957 at the Carters Green factory. Jensen had extensively used glass-reinforced plastic for the fabrication of body panels in the preceding two decades, but the new Interceptor saw a return to a steel body-shell. The body was designed by an outside firm, Carrozzeria Touring of Italy, rather than the in-house staff. The early bodies were built in Italy by Vignale, before Jensen took production in house, making somesubtle body modifications. The Interceptor Mark III is probably the most widely recognised Jensen found on roads today. In its final form, the Interceptor III represented the pinnacle of Jensen car development. For those thinking about buying a Jensen today, these cars epitomise what Jensen motoring was all about. The Mark III was first introduced in 1971, with a revised front grille, headlamp finishers and bumper treatment. The Convertible was introduced in 1974 and only 267 examples were built. The model was meant mainly for the American market but they were also sold in Europe. The cars were fitted with an electric power hood, fully interlined for luxury. DD Classics is pleased to offer this beautiful and rare Interceptor Convertible MK III for sale, finished in the stunning colour scheme of Platinum Silver with Blue hide upholstery which iscomplemented with a matching new Blue Everflex Soft top and a new set of Blue Wilton Carpets. Our Interceptor remains in fabulous condition, the chrome isall bright, the leather looks beautiful and the car whole car oozes style! This car was sold new in the United States where it has spent the majority of its life and was brought back to Europe in 2014. Accompanying the car is its original handbook and service book. Cast your mind back to the late 60s the news a grim mixture of industrial strife and discord in the Middle East. No wonder we longed for an escape; and the cinema provided it. It was a world where supercars were celebrated and a Technicolor drive to the French Riviera in a massively powerful GT was the done thing. So the stunning Interceptor stared in many films with its beautiful Touring of Milan styling and unique back window design. The Interceptor was launched in 1966 as an up-to-date replacement for the fast-but-raw C-V8. Its all-steel body was as rigid as a monocoque and was a radical step for Jensen. Sadly, the Interceptor and Jensen in its initial incarnation after producing only 6,000 units petered out in 1976. However, just like Mike Tyson, it wasnt averse to the odd comeback: first during the 1980s and 90s, and again in 2007. Thats a reflection of the popularity of the Interceptor, and proof that were all suckers for a healthy dose of escapism. This beauty looks resplendent finished in original Yellow with black hide and is one of only 87 rhd UK supplied examples built She was a factory demonstrator for a year, even used in television programmes and celebrity loans. At a price of just under £10000 when new the convertible was a veritable bargain compared to the Rolls Corniche at £16000 ! She has enjoyed constant maintenance during the years all documented in the comprehensive history file and most Jensen specialists have been involved In the servicing inc Cropredy, Appleyard,Rejen etc. Original build sheets and invoices are filed confirming original yellow colour and engine from new and mots are also documented The condition today is a testament to their high quality of workmanship and she looks and drives extremely well On the road she is more GT than sports car, but great fun in the country and effortless in the city. Youll be amazed at how little it rolls in bends and how simple it is to accurately position and, with a good-sized boot and rear seats, its a car you can enjoy every day. Fuel consumption aside. For the money, theres little to touch an Interceptor and they have been undervalued for years and the classic car pundits are predicting a great investment opportunity. Supplied fully inspected ,serviced and with a 12 month comprehensive warranty.

From long-term private ownership. One of only 30 Mk1 examples believed to have survivedAn original UK, right-hand drive, matching-numbers car well maintained by Cropredy Garage Fully restored a few years ago in its original Moorland Peat over Champagne leatherUprated dampers, electronic ignition, high-torque starter, twin fans, S/S exhaust, unleaded headIntroduced in 1966, the Interceptor was built in West Bromwich for a period of 10 years and evolved from the original MkI through to the final MkIV, a decade later in 1976. The original MkI is the rarest version as only 923 were built and just 30 are said to survive today. The all steel bodyshell was styled by Carrozzeria Touring in Italy and built by Vignale, arriving in the Midlands to then be paired with the inimitable 6.3-litre Chrysler V8 and automatic transmission. When new it cost substantially more than an Aston Martin and was double the price of an E-Type Jaguar.....This particular car is the rarest and most desirable Series 1 and is alateproduction model, built just prior to the Series II in 1969.It's an original UK, right-hand drive, matching-numbers car that retains the original engine and gearbox and has recently been maintained by highly respected Jensen Specialists, Cropredy Garage, so is now extremely well sorted. Featuring uprated adjustable dampers, electronic ignition, an uprated alternator, a high torque starter motor, twin cooling fans, a stainless exhaust, and is also modified to run on unleaded fuel.Originally specified in Moorland Peat with a Champagne leather upholstery, as it remains today, the car has benefitted from a full restoration earlier in this decade and has now 'settled' into a car with great patina and presence. There is a photographic record of this restoration in the comprehensive history file which accompanies the car, along with many bill and receipts confirming regular and thorough maintenance.PVC 111G looks, drives, and feels absolutely right and retains that 60's charismatic smell of leatherinsidethe very period looking cockpit. Coming from long-term private ownership, our vendor is a real classic car enthusiast who has enjoyed the journey with this particular car and accordingly we are pleased to bring it to market for the first time in many years.A rare opportunity today and viewing is thoroughly recommended.
