We are delighted to offer onto the market this very early Jaguar MKII 3.8 Automatic. This is an incredibly early car that was manufactured on the 23rd October 1959 and therefore retains some very early features such as the recessed sun visors and right hand positioned indicator stalk as per the MKI Jaguar. This is a very special car that has the most outstanding, top class bodyshell, only seen in the most rare top class original cars or high class, expensive restorations. To restore a MKII Jaguar to this standard today could well cost in excess of 100,000 and cars of this quality are very difficult to buy.

![CDATA[Launched in October 1964, the 4.2-litre version of Jaguar's sensational E-Type sports car brought with it a more user friendly all-synchromesh gearbox and a superior Lockheed brake servo along with the bigger, torquier engine. Top speed remained the same at around 150mph, the main performance gain resulting from the larger engine being improved acceleration. For 1968 the E-Type underwent major revision to comply with US safety and emissions legislation, emerging in 'Series 2' guise minus the original's distinctive headlight covers. In addition, enlarged side and rear lights were adopted while a thickened front bumper centre section bridged a larger radiator intake. Interior changes included a collapsible steering column and rocker switches in place of the earlier toggles. Beneath the bonnet the familiar XK engine now boasted ribbed cam covers and, on cars destined for North America, twin Stromberg carburettors, replacing the previous triple SUs that remained standard on those supplied toother markets. The adoption of the Strombergs, together with their associated inlet plumbing and a new Lucas ignition distributor, enabled the E-Type to meet the emissions targets but, inevitably, resulted in a reduction in power. From late 1967 the E-Type began to embody some of the forthcoming modifications, these interim cars coming to be known as the 'Series 1½', although there was never a fixed specification for this unofficial 'model'. Manufactured in March 1968 during this transitional period, this left hand drive, matching-numbers Series 1½ was sold new via Jaguar Cars, New York, USA and was originally finished in Pale Primrose Yellow with black interior trim, the same as it is today. This car has the desirable triple SU carburettor induction and must be among the last despatched to the USA with this feature. We are advised that the car had only two owners in the USA and was well maintained there by an amateur motor sports enthusiast, who used it for auto tests. Remarkably, the body hasnever needed any welding and remains all original apart from a repaint undertaken some years ago, while the interior likewise is original. In 2013, the E-Type was imported into the UK and recommissioned by the previous owner to make it suitable for regular road use, the brakes, suspension and drive train all being overhauled. Described as in generally in rust free condition, with excellent mechanicals, this outstandingly original Series 1½ E-Type is offered with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificates which expires in April 2019, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, photographs and the correct handbook in a Jaguar wallet.]]

The Jaguar Mark 2 was built by Jaguar between 1959 and 1967 at their facility in Coventry, and 12 months before the announcement of the XJ6 the 2.4L & 3.4L models were renamed Jaguar 240 and Jaguar 340 respectively. The previous 2.4L and 3.4L models, built between 1955 and 1959 have since been identified as Mark I Jaguars. The Co-Founder of The Swallow Sidecars Company (which became Jaguar Cars after the Second World War) Sir William Lyons' maxim of 'Grace, Pace and Space' was adhered to firmly during the development of this car. The car came with three engine configurations; a 120bhp 2,483 cubic centimetre engine, a 210bhp 3,442 cubic centimetre engine and a 210bhp 3,781 cubic centimetre engine. The 3.8L engine is a similar unit to that found in the E-Type, differing only in inlet manifold and carburation (Two SUs compared with the 3 used on the E-Type in Europe) which resulted in the E-Type having 30bhp more. The head of the engine in the Mark 2 utilised curved ports as opposed to the E-Typesstraight ports. Mechanically the front suspension geometry was rearranged to raise the roll centre and the rear track was widened. Four-Wheel disc brakes were now standard and overdrive or automatic transmissions were available as optional extras. Aesthetically there were a number of changes from the Mark 1, the cabin glass area was increased by around 18% which vastly improved visibility out of the cockpit; slender front pillars allowed a wider windscreen and the rear window almost wrapped around to the larger side windows, while all side windows featured fully chromed frames. The radiator grille was amended and larger side, tail and fog lamps were repositioned as compared to the Mark 1. Most crucially however, the instrument layout was improved and served as the standard for all Jaguars until the XJ Series II of 1973. This example is finished in the timeless combination of British Racing Green with Tan Leather interior and spent the majority of the last 30 years in the Milan area. The car was therecipient of a hugely extensive restoration in Italy around 5 years ago, having covered less than 4,000 miles since the completion of that process. Originally supplied with the Borg Warner Automatic Transmission (denoted by the BW chassis number prefix) it has since been converted to the more desirable 4-speed manual unit with overdrive. The engine was also replaced with a later Mark 2 3.8L power unit. Arguably one of the most practical and elegant cars of its day, and a fine example of one at that. We can assure any prospective buyers that a car heralded in its day as the greatest getaway car available will provide you with endless excitement and driving pleasure!
