This is a truly outstanding car and most certainly an XK150 3.8 FHC of significant interest. This very late Jaguar XK150 was manufactured on the 10th June 1960, despatched on the 24th June and distributed by Henly's Limited, London to Stubberfields Garages, St.Leonard on Sea, Sussex. PDY 840 left the factory in the special-order colour of Pippen Red with Black leather upholstery, limited slip differential and non-overdrive gearbox (now fitted with 5 speed gearbox, original gearbox with the car). This is one of only 656 cars produced in this specification and is the 102nd from last made by Jaguar. Jaguar records show the car was purchased by Mr W.T.M Jennings of GT Jennings & Co Ltd, Camber Beach Works in Rye, Sussex and he owned the car until 1970. The XK was then sold to its second owner, a publican in a village near Towcester, Northamptonshire who kept the car for 33 years. Whilst a publican, he was also a car dealer and repairer and obtained many cars for his own personal use, PDY 840 being oneof them. The third owner was based in Lancashire and having been off the road for several years, the car was sympathetically restored due to being purchased in remarkably original condition. On inspection prior to restoration the whole under body and chassis were found to have been oil sprayed regularly accounting for the remarkably well-preserved condition. The body was totally stripped down to bare metal and photographs are present showing the sensational body shell right down to metal. The condition of the body is quite remarkable for an original UK car and it was fully re-painted in its special-order colour of Pippen Red. The interior was found beautifully original with patina and did not require work and some of the chrome work was renewed. Mechanical work included some carburetion work, a new brake servo unit, 'Kevlar' water hoses, renewed servo pipes, new clutch, clutch master cylinder, re-conditioned steering rack, new gear lever bushes, new rear axle bearings, seals, one half shaft, newover axle flexi pipe, rear brake callipers and handbrake mechanisms were cleaned, greased and re-shimmed and lock wired and new 'Mintex' brake pads were fitted. After five years of reliable use, the XK went further north to Edinburgh for three years and in 2013 was sold by us to the last owner, a Jaguar enthusiast based in Wiltshire who has enjoyed covering several thousand miles in the car and attending and occasionally winning shows. The XK was the People's Choice winner at the Downton Engineering Works event and two years running won Best in Class at the Bath Festival of Motoring. Since we last sold the XK150 in 2013 it has been further improved with electronic ignition, five speed gearbox, all new chrome wire wheels and tyres and shortly before we sold the car, the beautiful original upholstery was improved with a new headlining. Over the past five years the XK has covered in the region of 4000 faultless miles and has been a delight to own. Whilst the car was sympathetically restored in 2004,it does still retain a very original feel to it. It's remarkable the original Black leather seats are in the car and still look lovely, the whole interior is largely original and clearly indicate this has always been a car cherished and nurtured. The body is still excellent, the Pippen Red paintwork nicely mellowed fourteen years on since being re-painted and the chrome work gleams. As when we sold the car in 2013, it drives tremendously well but is further enhanced with the five speed gearbox conversion. The 3.8 engine unit delivers impressive performance, its quick, responsive, sounds wonderful and the car is ideal for long distance touring with its 3.54:1 ratio Salisbury Thornton Axle giving a 'long legged' sporty drive. PDY 840 is a great car in every respect and one we are delighted to welcome back after five years in the South West. This car will not disappoint and opportunities to find an XK in such a rare special order colour will not be easily repeatable. Not only does the car have someinteresting history and provenance, it's a very correct car, as it left the factory with the exception of some sensible upgrades (original parts with the car). We have known SBD 453 for over 15 years and it is a car we know very well with a proven track record for outstanding performance and reliability. This particularly quick XK was upgraded to S Specification during a mid-1980's restoration and we know from previous MOT certificates the XK has covered in the region of 15,000 miles since 1997. SBD 453 was first registered on the 19th September 1958 and is a genuine UK supplied matching numbers car with the exception if its uprated 3.8 cylinder head. The XK150 FHC was dispatched from Henlys Limited, London on the 16th September and the first owner hasn't been recorded according to the Jaguar Heritage Trust. From a 'buff' logbook issued in 1963 we know the car was in the London Borough of Hounslow until 1969, it changed hands and was briefly in Croydon before heading South to Chichester in Sussex. The XK then spent several years off the road, purchased by a long-term owner in Edinburgh during the early 1980's who then commissioned a major restoration. Onthe road SBD 453 is truly outstanding and is a very fast car. The engine holds excellent oil pressure, pulls incredibly well and is in strong condition with a delightful roar. The four speed with overdrive MOSS gearbox is excellent with nice changes up and down the gearbox and the XK handles perfectly with lovely steering and sharp brakes. The car benefits from a lightened flywheel and has further improved performance from the S specification. The car has driven to us faultlessly from the York/Harrogate area and drives just as impressive as it did when we sold it to the most recent owner in 2011. Since 2011 the Jaguar has had a new set of tyres, the modified seats at a cost of over 1200 and upkeep to include a new heater matrix, new clutch pipe, carb overflow pipe, new clutch slave cylinder, new crankshaft damper, high torque starter motor, replacement regulator, new brake pads, handbrake pads, wheel cylinders, new front hub oil seals, new cooling hoses and new sump gasket. Recent ownership hasalso seen seatbelts fitted at a cost of almost 500. This has been a great car for us over the last fifteen years. We have sold it to several long-term customers who have adored the car during ownership. It's always proven to be reliable and really is outstanding to drive. Many years on since rebuild it still looks stunning and paintwork is still sharp with an impressive finish. It has beautifully aged since rebuild and has the looks of a car perhaps rebuilt between five and ten years ago. If looking for a high quality XK to use on a regular basis, or even test with long distance overseas touring, this is a car worth serious consideration. Further desirability of this motor car comes with the provenance of being a genuine UK matching numbers car and the upgrade to S specification certainly make it even more impressive. Finally, a comprehensive history is with the car detailing the restoration and includes DVLA correspondence, 1963 issued buff logbook, Heritage Certificate, MOT Certificates, originalhandbook and equipment and test data sheet. 690 KVA was manufactured on the 28th April 1960 and is a genuine UK, matching numbers car. The car was distributed from Ritchies, Glasgow on the 13th May 1960 and spent most of its life in Scotland. In 2012 we collected the Jaguar north of the border and sold the XK to one of our long term customers of twenty five years, a South Yorkshire based Dentist. Our Sheffield based customer owned the XK for five years and last year we sold the car to another long term friend of the business, a prominent South Wales JEC member and collector. During the early 1990's 690 KVA was subject of a major rebuild by one of Scotland's top restoration firms. The car was fully rebuilt mechanically, fitted with Vicarage Power Steering and the body restored then painted in Jaguar Cotswold Blue and the interior trimmed in Grey leather. Classic Restoration then winter stored the XK for almost twenty years. The XK only had summer use and just 4500 miles were covered to 2012. the During its five years in South Yorkshire, thecar covered a further 1000 miles and was subject of around 4,000 of further work to enhance the car. Vicarage Ltd supplied parts to service the power steering with a new alternator belt and power steering pump belt, Guy Broad supplied upgraded rear brakes, electronic ignition, a negative earth Facet fuel pump and poly wishbone bush set. Jaguar specialists M&C Wilkinson have stripped down the front suspension, installed new stub axles, new bearings, replaced top ball joints and re-shimmed bottom ball joints. Since last year the XK has been treated to electronic igntition and has atteneded several shows in South Wales. 690 KVA comes back to totally on the button and in glorious condition. It drives superbly with a wonderful engine holding excellent oil pressure. The four speed Moss gearbox is delightful to use, the overdrive comes in smoothly and with upgraded brakes, rebuilt front suspension and Vicarage power steering the car is just fabulous to drive as expected with less than 6000 miles sincerebuild. The XK presents incredibly well with a stunning glass finish. The Cotswold Blue paintwork is excellent, the body is sharp with lovely panels and chrome work including wires is very impressive. The engine bay presents well as a usable and superbly restored car and the underside is smartly presented and in excellent order. The re-trimmed upholstery has aged nicely with impressive leather, high quality carpets, headlining door cards and dashboard. This is a car that really does drive as well as it looks and should prove a fabulous purchase. Price: 89,995
