Vintage and Prestige are proud to offer this 1958 Jaguar XK150S 3.4 Litre Roadster For Sale. Registration: 655UYG Chassis no: T831551DN Engine no: VS1341-9 Body no: F16567 The ultimate expression of Jaguars fabulous XK series of sports cars arrived in 1957. The XK150 was a progressive development of the XK120 and XK140, retaining the same basic chassis, 3.4-liter engine and four-speed Moss transmission of its predecessors. It benefited from a new, wider body that provided increased interior space and improved visibility, courtesy of a single-piece wrap-around windscreen that replaced the XK140s divided screen. Cleverly, the new body used many XK120/140 pressings, the increased width being achieved by means of a 4-wide central fillet. A higher front wing line and broader radiator grille were other obvious differences, but the new models main talking point was its Dunlop disc brakes. Fade following repeated stops from high speed had been noted on the earlier, drum-braked cars, but now the XK had stopping power to match its prodigious straight-line speed. The XK150 was available at first only in fixed and drophead coupé forms; the open roadster version didnt appear until the following year. At 190bhp, the engines maximum power output was identical to that of the XK140, so performance was little changed. Special Equipment and S versions came with 210 and 250bhp respectively, the latter delivering an astonishing 0-60mph time of 7.3 seconds and a top speed of 136mph. This was achieved by the introduction of the Weslake-developed straight-port cylinder head, high-compression pistons, triple 2 SU carburetors and twin electric fuel pumps. The car regularly recorded in excess of 130mph in magazine road tests. The Jaguar XK150 is undeniably one of the worlds fastest and safest cars. It is quiet and exceptionally refined mechanically, docile and comfortable we do not know of any more outstanding example of value for money, declared The Autocar. This fantastic XK150S Roadster has in recent years had a full ground up restoration to the highest of standards and has covered just 425 miles since. The end result is truly remarkable with all the body gaps being millimetre correct. The underneath and wheel arches are as immaculate as the exterior which has an almost faultless high polish finish. Underneath the bonnet the same quality remains, not just to look at though, as soon as soon as you turn the key the 3.4 Litre Tri-Carb engine fires up and runs beautifully even from cold. Various modern upgrades have been fitted for ease with modern motoring, these include electronic ignition and power steering. A true masterpiece that really does need to be seen, this Jaguar is currently located in the owners climate controlled garage so please call and arrange a viewing. Vintage and Prestige are proud to offer this 1958 Jaguar XK150 Open Two Seater OTS For Sale. Registration: NSL 313 Chassis no: S 831029 Gearbox no: JL 41066 CR Body No: F 16025 Mileage since restoration: 15627 Although having a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140, the XK150 was radically modernized. A one piece windscreen replaced the split screen and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the doors. The bonnet was widened, opened down to the wings, and on the roadster the bulkhead was moved back four inches to make the bonnet longer. In the interior, the XK140s walnut dashboard was replaced by one trimmed in leather. On the early drophead coupés, an aluminum centre dash panel with an X pattern engraving was fitted which looked similar to the early 3.8 E-type. It was discontinued after June 1958. Thinner doors gave more interior space. The standard engine, the same as fitted to the XK140, was the 3.4 litre DOHC Jaguar straight six rated at 180bhp at 5750rpm but most cars were fitted with the SE engine that had a modified cylinder head with larger exhaust valves rated at 210bhp at 5500rpm. Twin 1.75-inch SU HD6 carburetors were fitted. Four-wheel Dunlop 12 inch disc brakes appeared for the first time although it was theoretically possible to order a car with drums. Either wire wheels or disc wheels could be specified. Suspension and chassis were very similar to that on the XK140. These were high performance, well appointed sports touring cars and could cope with long distances with alacrity. First registered in July 1958, this beautiful example has benefitted from exhaustive restoration over an eight year period, which was completed in the early 2000s. The bodywork was undertaken by specialist Contour Autocraft, whilst all trimming and upholstery was performed by MCT (Mic Turley), arguably the foremost UK Jaguar trimmer, using original patterns from Jaguar themselves. The restoration was finally completed with meticulous attention to detail and aided by past Jaguar Drivers Club judges. As a result the XK went on to win the JDC Concours dElegance in 2000 and 2001, and was also a finalist in the Autoglym competition of 2001. S831029 has also appeared on the Discovery Channels, A Car is Reborn television series. After winning the previously mentioned competitions, a number of sympathetic modifications were carried out to make it more driver-friendly. Power steering, electronic ignition and an electric cooling fan were added as well as highly effective Coopercraft brakes and a modern alternator. In addition, a stainless steel exhaust system has been added with all original parts kept if required. A very rare set luggage and the original and complete tool kit are included. Possibly one of the finest in the country, this XK150 Roadster represents many thousands of hours of effort as well as a keen eye for performance and style. In our showroom and ready for viewing. ![CDATA[The Jaguar XK150 was manufactured between 1957 and 1961 and despite having a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140, the XK150 was radically modernised. A one piece windscreen replaced the split screen and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the doors. The bonnet was widened, opened down to the wings and on the roadster, the bulkhead was moved back four inches to make the bonnet longer. In the interior, the XK140's walnut dashboard was replaced by a leather trimmed unit. The standard engine, the same as fitted to the XK140, was the 3.4 litre DOHC Jaguar straight-six rated at 180bhp at 5750rpm. Either wire wheels or disc wheels could be specified and the suspension and chassis were very similar to that on the XK140. These were high performance, well appointed sports touring cars and could cope with long distances with alacrity. Having been manufactured on 14th July 1958, this genuine right hand drive Jaguar has led an interesting life. She was exported to Malaya and registeredon 1st September 1958 to Mr. Douglas Earp who was a rubber plantation manager who was awarded an MBE in 1974 for services to the planting industry. The previous vendor - a Chartered Design Engineer - was working on various large projects in Kuala Lumpur in anticipation of the creation of the state of Malaysia when he purchased the Jaguar on 1st August 1963. He commissioned some repairs on the car in 1965 and had the original blue interior changed to red with materials being supplied by Connolly Brothers. Throughout his stewardship, the vendor kept the Jaguar very well maintained as confirmed by the two quite significant history folders. In 1967, the car was repatriated to the UK and used on a regular basis. He had a couple of other assignments abroad but chose to leave the Jaguar in storage in the UK, he even has correspondence from Jaguar about how to store the car correctly for long periods. In 2007, Mark Cooper, a Jaguar trained mechanic, carried out some work on her and has been maintainingthe XK150 ever since. In total and after inspecting the history, it appears VSV 633 has covered in total 46,000 miles from new. In the past 12 months, this Jaguar has benefitted from further investment and as such presents in very good order today. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate, this matching numbers, low mileage Jaguar is a sound example with an exceptional pedigree.]]
