1953 Jaguar XK120 Drop Head Coupe, Left Hand Drive Chassis number: S677646 Registration number: EX789LR (French) Supplied new to the USA, this is a rust free southern state car. More recently it has formed part of a small collection of sports cars in the French town of Condom. The car is finished in older patinated British Racing green Paintwork. The interior is new pale green hide throughout & the spectacular burr Walnut dash board has been removed & re-finished. Likewise the car has been throroughly gone though mechanically with brakes shocks & drive train all having been rebuilt. Brand new knock off chrome wire wheels have also been fitted at no inconsiderable expense. A new Black soft top has also been fitted. A simple affair to lower, one simply undoes three latches & throws it rearwards unlike the time consuming contortions required to raise & lower the OTS version. On the road the car drives superbly. A kenlowe fan has been fitted for additional cooling & the car has also been converted to run on corrosion inhibiting Evans Waterless Coolant. The car is equipped with its original Moss gear box. This is a pleasantly patinated car on the outside with a fresh & lovely interior inside. Fully mechanically sorted, it is a pleasure to drive with its lusty 3.4 litre twin cam unit pulling strongly in all gears & making the appropriate noises. It will remain in Condom until the end of the summer to do family wedding duties unless purchased beforehand. A gallery of large high-resolution pictures may be viewed on our website. The Jaguar XK120 was the first post war sports car to be built following Jaguars hugely successful SS100. The XK120 was launched at the 1948 London Motor Show as the test-bed and show car for the new Jaguar 3.4 litre six cylinder XK engine. The alloy cylinder head, twin side-draft SU carburettors and duel overhead-cam 3.4 litre unit produced a staggering 180bhp. The XK 120 proved an instant hit and went into immediate production on the orders of Sir William Lyons. The first 242 roadsters were hand-built Ash framed with aluminium bodies. Production switched to steel in early 1950. The Jaguar factory supplied the worlds press with a couple of XK120s which they tested to their optimum performance in Belgium on a long, straight, stretch of road between Jabbeke and Ostend. The cars achieved speeds reaching in excess of Jaguars claimed 120 mph, making it the worlds fastest production car. Production was heavily biased towards the export market with a tiny number of cars remaining in the United Kingdom. The XK120 remained in production for 6 years and during this time successfully competed in many race and rally events including the Mille Miglia, Le Mans 24hr, Targa Florio. It also achieved a win in the Alpine Rally. The Jaguar XK120 Roadster Chassis no: 661092, offered here at Autostorico was first registered in July 1953. Supplied new by Skurrays Limited, Swindon to its first owner C Griffith of Stoke Poges in Buckinghamshire. Issued with the registration number KAM 505 this matching numbers XK120 is finished in Black with Red leather interior. With invoices on file dating back to 1971 this stunning example has had just 4 former keepers since 1953. In the mid 1990s it underwent a full body off restoration that also included a rebuild of its original engine. Since then its been sparingly used with a comprehensive service carried out in 2019 including a rebuild of the carburettors, full ignition service along with a brake and suspension overhaul. The car comes complete with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate, current V5 registration document and a large file including various invoices and other related materials. Finding a RHD XK120 in its original specification that still sits on steels and spats is not easy. Fortunately this superb example ticks all the right boxes. This is the perfect opportunity to own a true British classic which will certainly appreciate further over time. Viewing strictly by appointment only.

This beautifully presented UK Home Market Jaguar XK120 was supplied new by Leicester based agents Sanderson-Holmes Limited and registered CRC 919 on November 2nd 1951. The XK120 spent its early life in Derbyshire in regular use but by the late 1970's the car was no longer taxed and off the road. In 1984, the XK re-appeared in Norwich and four years later in 1988 it was sold by Mill Lane Engineering Ltd in need of restoration to a Surrey based enthusiast. The new owner commissioned Mill Lane Engineering Ltd to carry out top class full nut and bolt restoration that cost in the region of 88,000. The XK had a no expense spared rebuild that saw every componenet removed, replaced or re-conditioned and a superbly well documented invoice file and photographic record details the work. The bodyshell of CRC 919 was taken back to bare metal and photographs confirm the car had the most superb, straight bodyshell. The body was prepared and re-painted in Black cellulose paint and the interior re-trimmed with thecorrect pattern seats finished in Brown and Tan using the finest Connolly hides. The XK was built up to present as a total standard car with original steel wheels with correct painted hub caps, rear wheel spats, single pipe exhaust system, correct period dashboard instrumentation and a factory specification interior as mentioned above. CRC 919 was completeley rebuilt mechanically and additioned upgrades included an 8:1 compression cylinder head and electric fan. The XK120 was completed with a brand new double duck hood, sidescreens and tonneau cover. After two years of careful, diligent work, the XK was completed to an exceptional standard and over the next fifteen years covered almost 2000 miles, used sparingly for club events and local shows. After a total of 17 years with one owner, the XK changed hands and was soon to be owned by a London based Investment Bank in Burlington Street, W1. In 2012 CRC 919 was purchased by its most recent owner and due to lack of use, was taken to Guy Broad for aprogram of re-commissioning work. This included rebuilding the carbs, replacing the lever arm shocks, fitting new tyres, rebuilding the steering box, idler and steering system, fitting new batteries, replacing the master cylinder, fitting new wheel cylinders, brake linings, new anti-roll bar bushes and fully servicing the car. Between 2015 and 2017, further mechanical work has been carried out to include an engine rebuild. Engine specialists stripped the unit, fully re-manufactured and balanced the engine and carried out a rear oil seal conversion. Whilst removed, the gearbox was treated to new front and rear oil seals and gaskets. Guy Broad supplied a new pedal box and front brake disc kit. In total, a further 15,000 has been spent on this XK120 to ensure its ready for regular use and long distance touring. Since this major overhaul work, the XK has covered just 500 miles and only 5000 have been completed since the late 1980's 88,000 full restoration. CRC 919 is now in a position to be enjoyed andis offered onto the market in strong mechanical order. The XK 3.4 engine is superb with excellent compressions and oil pressure, it performs superbly and the correct four speed Moss gearbox is lovely to use. The XK handles, steers and brakes superbly and is driving beautifully. Almost 30 years on from completion of the rebuild, CRC 919 presents wonderfully and this is down to careful use, good storage and careful ownership. The Black paintwork gleams, the bodyshell is superb with excellent gaps and the chrome work is still of an excellent standard. The interior now has a nicely aged finish to it, the weather gear is in excellent order and the engine bay and boot area present exceptionally well. This is a beautifully prepared and presented UK XK120 and having had its recent program of work, its superbly well sorted and ready to use and enjoy. Price: 119,995

This superb Roadster is finished in light blue Jaguar metallic with two tone light and dark blue leather trim, complemented by a dark blue soft top and side screens. This XK120 is an early vehicle with the chrome outside sidelights, steel wheels, hub caps, rim embellishers and rear wheel spats. It drives like new and is in near concours condition. The car was discovered in the USA in a state of disrepair by Michael Erroll who was a long-time Jaguar enthusiast and Chairman of the Surrey Vintage Vehicle Society for 20 years (hence the private reg VVS245 which he purchased and which was sold with the car). The vehicle was repatriated back to the UK in 1989 whereupon it received a ground up restoration body off the chassis, bare metal repaint and retrim etc. This took place from 1989-1993 at a cost in excess of 42000 at that time. There is a full photographic record with the car and the car has travelled very few miles since the restoration. The history folder includes: current V5, previous MoTcertificates, invoices, condition report, write up on xk120s, the photographic record, workshop manual, various write-ups etc. plus factory press release pictures. This car was sold new to the Jaguar Garage Homburg, Sunset Boulevard, LA to be their demonstration vehicle and has been purported to have been owned by the actor Clarke Gable- and it may well have been but we have no cast iron proof. That said this is a beautiful, mint example of the marque and offered at a sensible price for both the condition and the rarity.
