We are delighted to offer this exceptionally rare Humber Pullman Laundaulette onto the market. There are only a handful of this type still in existence. The car was despatched from the factory on the 19th October 1931 to Rossleigh, Edinburgh. Documentation in the history from a Humber motoring Historian states the car is actually a 1932 model and is believed to have left the factory in its current colours of Royal Blue over Black. The Humber spent most of its life in Scotland, spending 50 years with the same family. The Humber also comes with its original Hackney Carriage 8 seats plaque as it was used to transport holiday guests from Granton Station to Aviemore Resort in Scotland. Having spent its entire life in Scotland, the most recent owner in Enfield bought the Humber in 1999 and has covered 6500 miles in the car over the past 18 years and the Humber arrives with us in impressive mechanical order, beautifully presented body and a totally original, unrestored interior. Whilst the Humber retainsa great deal of originality, it was subject of some restoration work in 1992. Over 10,000 was spent on removing all exterior fittings and interior trim and seats, stripping the complete vehicle down to bare metal and carrying our repairs as necessary to the metal work. All dents were removed and then the Humber was completely re-painted in its original colour scheme. New glass was fitted to all four doors, any corroded woodwork was replaced and a new exhaust system was also fitted. The Humber was then built back up, presenting in first class condition. In 2000, six months after changing hands and moving to Enfield, a programme of mechanical re-commissioning work was carried out. Brake shoes were sent for re-lining, king pins were stripped down, carefully repaired with some new machining and new thrust bearings. New bushes were made and fitted to the damper link arms, springs were removed and stripped down, then sandblasted, re-assembled and greased up with new bushes fitted, the fuel tank wasflushed out, cleaned and re-painted, the sender unit freed off and tested, a new cross shaft was machined with new pins, nuts, spacers and washers and the engine was treated to an oil change and filter, HT leads and condenser replaced. Plugs were cleaned, inlet and exhaust tappets set and timing also set. The carburettor was stripped and new jets fitted, the starter motor rebuilt and the Humber was then MOT test and ready for use. A notebook accompanies the car details all 6500 miles with the last owner, and it also documents various jobs such as replacing tyres and battery when necessary. The only significant expenditure since the re-commissioning work in 2000 was over 4500 of work in 2011/2012. This work included a further brake overhaul and various mechanical and electrical work. With steady use since then, the Humber has arrived with us in lovely order and does drive very well. Its 3.5 six cylinder engine runs beautifully and offers impressive performance. The gearbox feels strong, changesnicely and the Humber rides, steers and brakes well. Confidence can be taken from the previous owners regular use and the car has a strong, robust feel and is most certainly very usable. The Humber starts reliably, drives beautifully and its powerful engine means it can be driven comfortably for longer distance touring. SN 5437 is a large, impressive motor car and with sharp, deep paintwork and bright chrome it does present incredibly well. It's a beautiful looking car and whilst some may prefer a brand new looking interior, our car has a wonderful patina and charm with its original seating still in remarkably good order. The carpeted section of the lower door cards are quite worn but it does represent 80 years of history and cosmetic work to the trim can be carried out if necessary. The glass chauffeur patrician is still in place functioning correctly and whilst many, many years ago the Laundaulette style hood was covered over externally at the rear of the car, the original interior headlining andhandles etc are all still in place so we are happy to explore the option of re-instating this so rear passengers can have open top motoring. Humber's original sales brochure stated the car combines simple dignity of appearance with interior roominess and charm. The folding head is particularly neatly constructed, the hinged supports being concealed in the roof itself. This is a wonderful, rare piece of motoring history and it offers a very unique opportunity. Please enquire for the further details. Price: 34,995

Already the majority shareholder in the combined Hillman/Humber concern, Rootes completed its take-over in 1931. Under Rootes guidance, Hillman concentrated on models with mass-market appeal - the shortly-to-be-announced Minx would ensure the reconstituted companys success - while Humber was pitched at a wealthier clientele. Humbers first all-new model conceived under Rootes ownership was the 12. Introduced in 1933, the 12 was powered by a 1,669cc four-cylinder sidevalve engine that in enlarged, overhead-valve form would still be in production over 30 years later. Coupled to a four-speed gearbox, this versatile power unit went into an entirely conventional X-braced chassis featuring semi-elliptic springing at both ends and Bendix cable brakes. Pressed Steel provided the standard six-light saloon body while the range also included the two-door Vogue saloon, a tourer and a drophead coup. In 1935 the 12 was updated and restyled, gaining a new frame, an all-synchromesh gearbox and a more streamlinedbody with integral boot and vee-shaped radiator grille. Production ceased in 1937 This Humber 12 saloon was acquired by its previous owner some years ago and notably was used for his daughters wedding. The car had been regularly MoT. We understand VN 8086 starts and runs, appearing original and eminently serviceable in all areas. With 43,000 miles showing, the interiors patinated leather upholstery is original and in original condition, while the carpets have been replaced in the past. Of particular note are the dashboard and its instruments, which are original and most attractive. A nicely mellowed pre-war saloon from a quality manufacturer.
