30,350 recorded miles1 of 88 RHD examplesOffered with book pack, service book and handbookFerrari's mid-engined, flat-12 Testarossa was unveiled to an expectant media at the Champs-?lyses' Lido nightclub on the eve of the 1984 Paris Salon. Though an evolution of the 512BBi, it was of markedly different appearance with large, slatted intake ducts leading from the doors into the rear quarter panels; it was nearly 6in wider than its predecessor. By the time of the 1992 Los Angeles Auto Show, the model had been heavily re-engineered and relaunched as the 512 TR. The many improvements included: uprated engine with broader power curve and higher peak figure of 428bhp; swifter gearchange; uprated braking; quicker steering; lower profile tyres; superior suspension settings; repositioned engine and gearbox, resulting in a lower centre of gravity and improved weight distribution. This distinctive-looking 512 was supplied new by the UK importer Maranello Concessionaires to a Mr Simon Draper on May 22, 1992.Only 88 examples of the model were apparently manufactured with righthand drive, of which the appropriately registered '512 GUV' is one of just 50 early non-ABS cars. Remaining in its current ownership since 2004, the Prancing Horse has had six keepers to date, who've amassed the pleasingly low total of 30,350 miles between them. Previous service work was carried out by marque specialist Bob Houghton, while ongoing attention and maintenance has included a re-bushing of the suspension, the installation of a stainless steel exhaust system, plus a respray, which took place around four years ago. The vendor presently regards the TR as having 'very good' bodywork, paintwork, Grey interior trim, flat-12-cylinder engine and five-speed manual gearbox, and is now offering this rare Ferrari complete with its full book pack with service book, 512 parts catalogue and sales brochure, a pair of keys and alarm fobs, and a collection of old MOTs, plus one valid into May of next year.

The Ferrari 365 GT4 BB was introduced in 1971 at the Turin Salon; a major move forward from the outgoing Daytona, most notably due to the mid-mounted flat-12 engine. This change in engine location was Ferrari's attempt to move away from a GT car and more into a supercar; a direct rival for the Lamborghini Miura and subsequently Countach. There were only 400 365 GT4 BBs produced from 1973-1976 before Ferrari moved on to the 512 BB, the updated successor. Not only was the 512 an improvement in terms of usability, but also raw performance, mainly due to the larger 4.9-litre engine with dry-sump lubrication. Further improvements included a higher compression ratio, wider track and tyres to accommodate the 360bhp, capable of reaching 60mph in the mid 5 seconds. Stylistically, the 512 BB remains similar to its beautiful predecessor; twin rear lights and tailpipes being the most notable change, but even moving into the 80s, the Boxer was still one of the most stunning cars available. Less than 1,000 512BBs were produced in total. The lovely example we are offering was UK supplied via Maranello Concessionaires in 1978 in the same Rosso Chiaro Exterior over Crema Leather Interior it sits in today. The car has an extensive history and service file and has also recently been awarded with Classiche Certification from the Ferrari Factory!

1984 Ferrari 512 BBi Coupé Coachwork by Pininfarina Registration no. A65 WHK Chassis no. 51335 Vintage & Prestige Classic Cars are thrilled to offer for sale this iconic 'flat 12' Ferrari, delivered new to California and just one of 141 final-year models. Ferrari Classiche Certified. Having reasserted itself at the top of the supercar hierarchy with the first 'Boxer' - the 365 GTB/4 BB - Ferrari went one better with its successor, the 512 BB. For the new Boxer, Ferrari abandoned its long-standing practice of denoting a model by the capacity of an individual cylinder and adopted the Dino-type nomenclature where '512' indicates 5 litres/12 cylinders. The increase in engine size from the original Boxer's 4.4 litres was made not so much with increased power in mind but to enable the 512 BB to meet increasingly stringent emissions targets without loss of performance. Displacement was increased by enlarging both bore and stroke, while in addition the compression ratio was raised and dry-sump lubrication adopted. The result of all these changes was a useful increase in torque which, coupled with revised gear ratios, made the 512 more tractable. Changes to Pininfarina's inspired coachwork were, not surprisingly, few: an air-dam spoiler beneath the nose, brake-cooling NACA ducts ahead of the rear wheel arches, four rear lights instead of six and revised air intake boxes, while slightly fatter rear tyres meant that the width of the 512's rear grew by just over 25mm. The running gear likewise came in for only minor revision, gaining stiffer springs/anti-roll bars and altered damping rates, while the already excellent all-round ventilated disc brakes remained unchanged. Inside, the 512 remained virtually the same as before but for the welcome adoption of multi-way adjustable seats in place of the fixed originals. Road & Track magazine had achieved a speed of 175mph (280km/h) in the preceding 365GT/4 BB, and although lack of road space prevented the discovery of their test 512's capability, Ferrari's claimed maximum of 188mph was felt entirely realistic. The fact that this was down 4mph on the Lamborghini Countach's 'fastest ever' maximum was considered unimportant. 'That's because, taken on balance, the Ferrari 512 Boxer wins a more important award, as the best all-round sports and GT car we've tested,' enthused the highly respected American motoring magazine. 'If we had to pin the reasons down to one it would have to be that the Ferrari doesn't forget the driver. The Boxer has it all, the speed, the handling, the lovely shape, the well done cockpit and, most important of all, a reputation for reliability.' In 1981 the model was updated with Bosch fuel injection, becoming the 512 BBi. Once again, maximum power remained unchanged but there was more available at lower revs and torque increased still further. Possessing an engine directly related to Ferrari's contemporary Formula 1 unit, as well as being both lighter and faster than the legendary Daytona, the 512 BBi was one of the most capable and exciting supercars of its era and is still capable of providing all the thrills that an enthusiastic owner-driver could wish for. Despite the fuel injection, the 512 BBi was never approved for sale in the USA, though American customers were given assistance by Ferrari to import them privately and carry out the necessary 'federalisation'. This left-hand drive example is one of only 1,007 512 BBi models produced by Ferrari and was delivered new in 1984 to California, USA. Numbered '51335', it is a very late production car. Sold at a US auction in August 2013, at which time it was stated that it had benefited from a recent engine-out service replaced the vital timing chain tensioner, as well as the exhaust. At the same time, the air conditioning system was refurbished with all-new belts, hoses, seals, and gaskets. Unlike the average 512 BBi, which typically sees only infrequent use, this one has been driven and enjoyed. The original Rosso Corsa paintwork has been well looked after, while the complementary Rosso/Nero interior shows very little wear, together creating the impression that this car is younger than its 30-plus years. Original books and tools are present. Imported into the UK after the auction sale. The previous vendor purchased the Ferrari several years ago and its been well stored since. With the value of V12 Ferraris from the 1960s and 1970s having increased dramatically, users and investors alike have recognised the potential of the Berlinetta Boxer series, and particularly that of the more practical fuel-injected models. • Auction: 20th/21st Sept 2019 - RM Sotheby's - The Saragga Collection

To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys' The Sáragga Collection event, 20 - 21 September 2019. Portuguese delivery exampleLess than 35,000 km from newRetains its original engine In 1991 Ferrari launched the 512TR as a radical improvement to its best-selling twelve-cylinder Ferrari, the Testarossa. Although visually similar to the outgoing model, the 512TR was far more than just a facelift and featured a wealth of improvements that enabled it to compete with its main rival, the Lamborghini Diablo. Figures of 195 mph top speed and a 060 time of 4.9 seconds speak for themselves; the 512TR was, and still is, a very fast car. This example has covered just 35,000 kms since being delivered to its first owner, a resident of Gibraltar, through Viauto Automovels e Accessorios in Porto in June of 1993. The accompanying service book shows servicing at regular intervals through 2001 in Lisbon, and it is believed that the car has remained in Portugal ever since. A service tag present in thedoorjamb indicates that the last service was carried out in October of 2017. It presents in good usable condition. Its Rosso Corsa paintwork retains a deep shine, whilst the Cuoio leather interior shows very minimal wear. The engine bay is as impressive today as it was in 1993 and is indicative of the care that has been bestowed upon it.To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/pg19.
