To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys' Auburn Fall event, 30 August - 2 September 2018. Estimate:$35,000 - $45,000 Offered from The Shrine of the Holy GrilleThe ultimate, most prestigious and costly Edsel from the iconic 1958 model yearOne of just 930 madeChalk Pink and Charcoal Brown Metallic with Pink and Charcoal Brown vinyl interior345-hp, 410-cu. in. E-475 OHV V-8 engine and Teletouch automatic transmissionPower brakes, steering, windows, and topOne of the stars of the collection When it comes to Edsels, the 1958 Citation convertible is the cream of the crop. No Edsel was more luxurious, and none was ever so costly. It was a genuinely comfortable and beautifully built automobile, with all of the trademark 1958 features, plus scalloped rear fenders, with a contrasting color insert, and a 345-hp E-475 V-8 and Teletouch push-button transmission as standard equipment. Only 930 examples were built, and the survivors are highly sought after by Edsel enthusiasts such as Jim andCarolyn Popp, owners of The Shrine of the Holy Grille. One of the centerpieces of their collection, this car is an older restoration in its original color scheme of Chalk Pink and Charcoal Brown Metallic, with power brakes, steering, windows, and top. It has a wonderful, evocative appearance and can surely be considered the ultimate Edsel from the marques legendary inaugural season. To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/AF18.

To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys' Auburn Fall event, 30 August - 2 September 2018. Estimate:$35,000 - $45,000 Offered from The Shrine of the Holy GrilleOne of just 1,876 producedTurquoise and Snow White with matching interior303-hp, 361-cu. in. E-400 OHV V-8 and Teletouch automatic transmissionWell-presented older restoration with several desirable accessories Prior to its public launch on Edsel Day 4 September 1957 the Edsel was the most eagerly awaited new make of car in American history. Ford set up an entirely new sales and marketing organization, built a new factory in Kentucky, and signed up over 1,000 dealers in advance of production, and hyped the car far and wide, including running Edsel ads on all four major television networks at the same time. One of those much-awaited new Edsels was this Pacer convertible, one of just 1,876 produced. A well-presented older restoration in Turquoise and Snow White with a matching interior, its original factory color scheme, it hasbeen one of the centerpieces of Jim and Carolyn Popps collection, The Shrine of the Holy Grille. Today it records 55,106 miles at the time of cataloguing. Accessories include the Teletouch automatic transmission (shifted by push-buttons in the steering wheel hub), dual spotlights, and a continental kit spare. This would be one of the highlights of any 1950s Ford collection.

Estimate:$40,000 - $50,000 Offered from The Shrine of the Holy GrilleThe First of the Last serial no. 00001, the first Edsel produced in the last year of productionOne of just 135 hardtop sedans built; fewer than 30 known to survivePurchased by the Vice President of Parts for the Ford Motor CompanyTwo private owners from newFinished in Alaskan Gold and Polar White185-hp, 292-cu. in. Ranger OHV V-8 engine and two-speed Mile-O-Matic transmissionHigh-quality, multi-year restoration completed in 2000 The 1960 Edsels were introduced on 15 October 1959 and the 1960 Edsels were discontinued on 19 November 1959. Total production lasted for barely three months, and the total model year output was just 2,846 cars. The upside to this sad end to the Edsel story was that all 1960 Edsel automobiles were incredibly rare from the moment they were born. Some were, of course, rarer than others, and this 1960Ranger hardtop sedan represents one of fewer than 30 known survivors of a mere 135 built. Even more special, it is serial no. 0001, the very first 1960 Edsel produced. Bought new by the Vice President of Parts for the Ford Motor Company, it was acquired from him by the current owner, who undertook a high-quality, multi-year restoration, completed in 2001. The result is spectacular and deserving of The First of the Last.To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/AF18.

To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys' Auburn Fall event, 30 August - 2 September 2018. Estimate:$25,000 - $30,000 Offered from The Shrine of the Holy GrilleOne of 5,687 built and fewer than 50 known survivorsFully restored to a high standard in President Red and Talisman Red2009 Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) National First Prize winnerOptional, top-of-the-line 303-hp, 361-cu. in. Super Express OHV V-8Desirable and rare three-speed manual transmissionA highly collectible example with the most potent available drivetrain The Edsel wagon was always a great rarity compared to its sedan and coupe brethren. Such is the case of the 1959 model, the Villager, of which 5,687 were produced, and fewer than 50 examples are known to remain. The Shrine of the Holy Grilles example was fully restored to a high professional standard in these striking, desirable factory-correct colors of President Red and Talisman Red, which combine with chrome hubcaps and blackwall tires to produce atruly distinctive appearance. Most special of all is under the hood, where can be found the most powerful available drivetrain combination, the 303-hp, 361-cu. in. Super Express V-8 and the rare three-speed manual transmission, as was installed during the restoration. The result is a potent family hauler, sure to impress, just as it impressed the AACA judges who awarded it a National First Prize in 2009.To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/AF18.

Super Express OHV V-8 and three-speed Dual-Power automatic transmissionFinished in original colors of Redwood Metallic and Desert TanNational concours delegance award-winnerAmong the finest original survivors; a car for the Edsel connoisseur The 1959 Edsel was based upon that years successfully redesigned Ford, with the bodies distinguished by lowered, more subtle quad headlamps, taller windshields, and rear end styling modified with flat taillights and, of course, that famous Edsel grille, so beloved and deified by this collections owner, right up front. To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys' Auburn Fall event, 30 August - 2 September 2018. Estimate:$20,000 - $25,000 Offered from The Shrine of the Holy GrilleFirst winner of the Ford Motor Company Trophy at the Edsel National Meet, 1997Fully restored in the original color scheme, Turquoise Metallic and Polar WhiteEquipped with power steering and power brakes145-hp, 223-cu. in. Economy 6 OHV inline six-cylinder engine and three-speed manual transmissionOne of only 777 examples built The Shrine of the Holy Grille stands as testament to one mans abiding passion for Edsel automobiles. In few cars from the collection is that passion more evident than this humble Ranger two-door sedan, with the 145 hp Economy 6 and three-speed manual transmission, a common mans Edsel that many less devoted collectors might overlook. Not so in this case; the car received a painstaking full restoration in its original color scheme, Turquoise Metallic and Polar White with a corresponding cloth interior. Theresult is stunning and, in fact, was the very first winner of the Ford Motor Company Trophy, when it was initiated at the Edsel National Meet of 1997. It is a superb automobile in every regard. To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/AF18.
