![CDATA[The Nissan 240Z was the first generation of the GT two-seat coupés produced from 1969 to 1978. Dealers soon had long waiting lists for the 'Z'. Its modern design, relatively low price and growing dealer network compared well to other foreign sports cars of the time. The Series I launched in 1970 with the Series II in 1971 with minor design changes in-between. The 240Z was powered by a lusty 2.4 litre, straight six, overhead cam engine developing around 150bhp resulting in 0-60 in eight seconds and a top speed of 125mph. A five speed manual gearbox was standard and the car featured independent suspension all round with MacPherson struts at the front and Chapman links at the rear. Rack and pinion power steering and front disc brakes meant that the 240Z was a thoroughly modern package. According to Classic and Sportscar, the Z' was In a different technical league whilst Road and Track magazine noted, Datsun have reinvented the sports car with the sleek, civilised, sexy and sporty 240Z. This240Z was imported from Arizona and restored by a respected marque specialist. The body was stripped and repaired as necessary and repainted in blue metallic, the interior was trimmed in contrasting cream. Mechanically the car has had lots of work carried out with a new clutch fitted as well as a new timing chain, brakes, wheels and tyres. The carburettors have also been overhauled, Euro lights have been fitted, a stainless steel exhaust and new dampers. The vendor has applied to the DVLA for the car to be UK registered and it is hoped this will be concluded prior to auction. Datsun 240Zs are fast becoming highly sought after, fine lefthand drive examples such as this are very much in vogue. ]]

![CDATA[The Datsun 240Z wasn't Japan's first sports car. It wasn't even Nissan's; as that honour goes to the open-topped Fairlady. But it was the first sports car from Japan that achieved huge international success, especially in the USA. Nissan's formula for sales success with this car was simple; to imitate the British sports car such as the MGC and Triumph GT6 by accentuating their good points and eliminating the legions of faults. The 240Z's looks were spot on, thanks to styling influenced by a Count Albrecht Goertz concept developed for Datsun in the early 1960s. Performance from its sporty 2.4 litre power unit which owed a lot to the BMC C-Series as well as Mercedes-Benz's straight-six, was more than ample. Being a Datsun, reliability was a given, but the agile (if tail-happy) handling was a pleasant surprise. During its five year run, more than 150,000 were produced and survivors are now seriously appreciating. Finished in Kilimanjaro White with black interior, this rare and highly desirableG-Nose model 240Z has been restored by a marque expert and as such presents in very good order. Imported from California, the car was stripped with any corrosion cut out and re-fabricated as necessary. Mechanically these cars are very reliable, however the fastidious vendor has ensured this Datsun is in top order mechanically by fitting a new clutch, brakes, dampers, timing chain, wheels and tyres. A service has been carried out and all the fluids have been changed, the carburettors have also been rebuilt. This 240Z was only a two owner car in the U.S. the second owner purchasing the car when it was ten months old; a good history folder accompanies this Datsun which is unusual for an imported car. A G-Nose 240Z is rare and highly desirable, the vendor has ensured this example presents in the best way possible with everything working, even the clock! We are advised the UK registration has been applied for with the DVLA, we expect this to be concluded prior to auction. ]]
