![CDATA[The Z06 arrived as a 2006 model in the third quarter of 2005 and is the lightest of all Corvette models. The Z06 was equipped with the largest displacement small-block ever produced, a new 7.0 litre (427 cu in) engine producing an impressive 505 bhp and is the most powerful naturally aspirated engine put into a production car from General Motors. In addition to the larger engine, the Corvette Z06 has a dry sump and con-rods made out of titanium. The frame of the Z06 is constructed from aluminium, saving 136 pounds over the standard steel frame. The Z06's body differentiates itself from the standard Corvette with larger front and rear fenders and an intake inlet scoop on the front bumper. The front fenders are constructed with carbon fibre and the rear fenders contain ducts to aid in cooling the rear brakes. Offered exclusively in Carbon Flash Metallic, the Centennial Edition kit includes Satin Black graphics and unique lightweight cast-spun aluminium Centennial Satin Black wheels, all carscome with red brake calipers and feature magnetic selective ride control. Inside, Ebony leather with red stitching accents dominate, while the seats, steering wheel and armrests feature microfibre suede accents. The headrests have an embossed Centennial Edition logo and the steering wheel hub carries the same Louis Chevrolet 100 graphic found on the car's B-post and wheel centre caps. Arguably the most subtle variation to be found is seen in the signature crossed-flags exterior badge, which sees the traditional Fleur-de-lis element replaced with 100 in all Centennial Edition cars. Originally registered in the name of Bauer Millett in Manchester on 1st January 2012, the vendor purchased the car from them on 1st February 2014. The low mileage of 7,456km is confirmed by the service history and MoT test certificates. Believed to be the only European specification Z06 Centennial Edition in the UK, this Corvette is a stunning car to look at and exceeds all expectations when driven. The V8 engine emits asuperb note and the throttle response is impressive to say the least. A quick short change manual gearbox defines this car as a true drivers car and one to be both respected and enjoyed in equal measure. The specification is comprehensive with heated seats, keyless entry and start, xenon headlamps, ceramic brakes, air conditioning and carbon fibre in plentiful supply. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a full years MoT test certificate, this rare and stunning Z06 Centennial Coupé is not for the faint hearted. If Darth Vader had a company car this would be it.]]

'The Sting Ray hit the American sports car market like a thunderclap, reminiscent of the knock-'em-dead debut of the Jaguar E-Type two years previously; comparisons were not slow to materialize. For the first time in history the Corvette was a sell-out success.' Richard M Langworth, The Complete Book Of The Corvette. To say that the Sting Ray's arrival caused a sensation would be grossly understating its impact on the North American sports car market. Indeed, such was its runaway success that the St Louis factory hired a second shift but still could not build cars fast enough to meet demand. Styled in General Motors' Art and Colour Studio under Bill Mitchell, the new Corvette featured radical styling pioneered on Mitchell's successful Stingray sports-racer, and for the first time there was a Gran Turismo coup in the range. Beneath the skin was an all-new ladder-frame chassis with independent rear suspension, the adoption of which enabled the centre of gravity to be significantly lowered, improvingboth roadholding and ride. This new frame was the work of Corvette Chief Engineer, Zora Arkus-Duntov who said: 'For the first time I have a Corvette which I am proud to use in Europe.'As had been the case with the previous (1956-62) generation of Corvettes, development proceeded slowly, being characterized by annual facelifts and few engineering changes of note. On the latter front, the long-overdue arrival of four-wheel disc brakes was the most significant development for 1965 while Chevrolet's 327ci (5.4-liter) 250bhp standard V8 was joined by an optional 396ci (6.5-liter) Big Block for '65 only, then a '427' until the end of Sting Ray production in 1967. Now recognized as representing a 'golden age' for the Corvette, the Sting Ray version was manufactured from 1963 to 1967 and has since gone on to become a highly collectible modern classic. The sporting Corvette offered here is a rare manual version finished in Milano Maroon. Recently serviced, this beautiful 1966 Roadster is ready for spiriteddrives on rallies, and should be powerful enough to satisfy your straight-line need for speed!

Now in its seventh generation, the Corvette began life in 1953 with the C1 - a model that inspired a generation of young Americans and gave the Ford Empire a nine-year headache. However it was the C2, the immortal Sting Ray produced between 1963 and 1967, that really set Chevrolet's cash registers ringing and left us with the most desired and collectable Corvette to date. Designed by Larry Shinoda under the guidance of the legendary Bill Mitchell, influences on the Sting Ray's unique and unforgettable form are said to include: the E-type Jaguar, a Mako shark once caught by Mitchell, the 'Q Corvette' concept car of 1957 and the 'Mitchell Sting Ray' design exercise. By the autumn of 1959, elements of the two unique Corvettes had been built into XP-720 - the design programme that led to the production of the Sting Ray as we know it.Offered here is an iconic `Little Red Corvette' finished, naturally, in Riverside Red with a Black Vinyl interior. Dating from the second year of C2 production, 1964,it'sleft-hand drive and fitted with the standard 327cu.in (250bhp) V8 and manual transmission. In the past it has been restored to a very high standard but is by no means a `trailor queen' The interior is very pleasing in standard finish black vinyl and has a very original feel without any noticeable wear. The engine bay is most impressive without being over-detailed and illustrates the 'no-nonsense' approach to the whole restoration. An excellent example of how an original car should look without the inappropriate 'bling' often added during the restoration of Americana. With its four-speed manual box, front disc brakes, and power-assisted steering the car is said to drive exceptionally well.Accompanied by its Kentucky title certificate, this Corvette was imported into the UK in 2017 with all taxes paid and is ready for registration with its NOVA Certificate. The registration plate in the photographs bears no connection with the car and was simply attached for photographic purposes.TheCorvetteStingray is almost certainly on most peoples top ten classic car wish lists, particularly a C2 in bright sparkling Red, and this one is ready to be enjoyed by a new owner .... turn up the `soundtrack'!
