  • Auction: 17th Oct 2018 - H and H Auctions - Duxford Motor Car Auction

Cadillac's Series 62 model was in production from 1940 to 1964, the first generation of which boasted a low sleek torpedo-style body penned by that doyen of American designers Harley Earl. It featured a heavily slanted two-piece windscreen and a notably curved rear window. Power came from a 346ci (5.7-litre) Monobloc V8 engine driving through either a three-speed manual or four-speed automatic gearbox. First year sales of the model totalled 5,903 - ie some 45 percent of Cadillac's total. This 1941 lefthand drive example has recently been imported from Florida. It is a well presented older restoration in the attractive colour combination of Silver over Red, and rides on wire wheels shod with White-walled tyres. It's presently considered by the vendor to have 'very good' bodywork and paintwork, and 'good' Grey interior trim, engine and transmission. Offered complete with US Title from 1990 (stating the mileage as 54,000, although now displaying 58,435), the Caddy was reportedly with the previous andbelieved second keeper for over 25 years. The Vendor advises an application for UK registration is currently under way.

  • Auction: 11th/12th Oct 2018 - RM Sotheby's - Hershey

To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys' Hershey event, 11 - 12 October 2018. Offered from the Lloyd Needham CollectionOne of just 400 produced; well-known, long-term ownership historyPart of Mr. Needhams collection for three decadesAccompanied by a copy of its original delivery invoiceClassic Car Club of America (CCCA) Full Classic Its original delivery invoice, a copy of which is on file, notes that this Series 62 convertible sedan, the 25th of just 400 made, was first sold by the Goad Motor Company of San Antonio, Texas, outfitted with whitewall tires, a windshield washer (supplied loose, interestingly enough), and a tan fabric top. It was originally finished in Monica Blue with a blue leather interior, a striking combination that may well be worth resurrecting.Lloyd Needham acquired the car in the late 1980s from his fellow Ontario enthusiast, Al Webster; Mr. Webster had bought it in Quebec, and recently recalled that he drove it extensively, including a road trip betweenToronto and the East Coast. It had been refinished prior to his ownership in the present livery, Black with a Tan interior, and fitted with a push-button AM radio and Guide spotlight. Typical of Mr. Needhams cars, the restoration is amazingly well kept for its age. Its paintwork still has a rich shine, and the wood-grained dashboard and steering wheel are both delightful to admire. Only very minor aging to chrome and the upholstery are visible. In 1991, Lloyd Needham had the honor of using this car to chauffeur Dame Vera Lynn, Sweetheart of the Armed Forces, at the ceremonies at the Hamilton Air Show honoring the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. It is ready to make new happy memories for its next caretaker, whether on show field or CCCA CARavan. To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/hf18.
