Probably the best 1939 Buick Straight 8 Fireball Special Sedan in existence. A 100 point concours car. This one-in-a-million find after spending decades in a dry storage garage and only having covered some 30,000 miles from new with 3 owners, but still being a good sound example, was eventually taken out of her garage in 2009, then being UK registered and the new owner, a perfectionist, proceeded to spend 50,000 over the next 2 years here in the UK, on a total body off, nut and bolt restoration at no expense spared, being completed by 2011. All bills and receipts for work carried out available with this magnificent car and her mileage still showing less than 34,000 miles from new. Retaining her original brochures, handbooks, workshop manual and Buick memorabilia. As stated in the Classic American magazine of 2014, If one was ever to wonder what it was like to own or drive a brand new straight 8 American Sedan out of the showroom back in the 1930's, this 1939 Buick special is as close as you couldpossibly get. Being finished in her original colour of Graphite with matching lush Grey wool interior. White wall tyres and all period fittings. I would challenge anyone that could possibly fault this car in any way shape or form as even its original radio works perfectly and is the ultimate American Classic for any genuine enthusiast. This is our own car and not a commission sale.

  • Auction: 18th/19th Jan 2018 - RM Sotheby's - Arizona Auction

To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys' Arizona event, 18 - 19 January 2018. Estimates:$20,000 - $25,000 Buick restyled its models for 1924 with a handsome modern design, matching the excellent, powerful valve-in-head engine under the hood, and new four-wheel drum brakes. The result was a powerful, beautifully built mid-priced car with fine engineering that would stand the test of time. Buick justifiably advertised the model as being the subject of universal comment and, memorably, The Standard of Comparison literally the standard by which all other automobiles in its class were measured. The car offered here, an upmarket six-cylinder model, is a fine example of just how well these Buicks would last with good care. It is one of two automobiles acquired for this collection in 2005 from the family of the late Robert C. Gardner of Center Sandwich, New Hampshire; the other is the 1941 Packard that Mr. Gardners father bought new. It is conceivable that the equally well-preserved Buickhad also enjoyed long-term family ownership before Mr. Gardner took it over in 1975.Sale paperwork indicates that the Buick recorded 15,243 miles at the time of its sale; it has had only 16 more miles added over the years, mainly in regular servicing. It was cosmetically restored some years ago, with more recent black paint and a top, which show only minor wear. Wonderful accessories include the correct side curtains, a covered rear-mounted spare matching the wooden artillery-style wheels, and a folding luggage fence on the running board. The car is accompanied by two original copies of the owners manual for the model.A charming entry-level automobile for the Nickel Era enthusiast new to the hobby or the passionate Buick collector, this handsome touring represents Flints Finest at its very best.To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/AZ18.

  • Auction: 18th/19th Jan 2018 - RM Sotheby's - Arizona Auction

To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys' Arizona event, 18 - 19 January 2018. Estimates:$30,000 - $35,000 As devastating to American life as it was, one of the better things to come out of the Depression years of the 1930s was Art Deco. Its flamboyant styling is still admired today and is mimicked in contemporary art and fashion. The designers of the better automobiles at this time were well aware of Art Deco and soon the cars they styled bore its influence. Buicks in particular from 1937 had a styling flare with Art Deco overtones. The cars looked racier thanks to a 1.5-in. drop in height, while the floors were dropped 2.5-in. to provide additional headroom. Engineering improvements consisted of a quieter valve train, as well as a new oil pump and cooling system. The Special convertible coupe offered here was beautifully customized by a former owner. It benefits from a late-model Corvette drivetrain, with automatic transmission and disc brakes, ensuring remarkable performance. Thebody is subtly lowered and chopped, and finished in a handsome metallic medium blue, while the interior boasts modern bucket seats and a rumble seat, upholstered in tasteful cream leather. Inspection shows careful attention to quality and detail throughout, including modern instruments and a stereo head well-integrated into the original Buick dashboard. This would be a superb addition to any custom collection, and surely the most fun way to get to the malt shop in Glendale or Phoenix this winter. To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/AZ18.
