1966 AUSTIN A60 CAMBRIDGE FARINA AUTO 4 DOOR SALOON38000 miles only from new with FSH and very smartly finished in snowberry white and cardinal red side strip and wheels with full red leather trim. Known as Bobby, the car was supplied by Hilldale garage, Seven Sisters Road, London to Mr A Glynn or Hornchurch Essex in 1966. The car was subject to a bare metal full restoration in 2014 until 2015. The car remains in excellent condition today and has covered very few miles since the restoration. In excess of 12000 has been spent on this car for restoration and maintenance work on this car. Very few of these cars exist today and automatic versions are even more rare. The features include period fog and spotlights, period wing mirrors, door mirror, leather trim, front and rear seat belts, servo assisted brakes, twin horns, electric windscreen washers, locking petrol cap, reversing lights, original factory hubcaps and wheel trims, front and rear ashtrays, walnut dash, Phillips radio cassette with extraspeakers and aerial, clock, opening quarter lights, side strip in cardinal red ( which is a particularly nice shade of maroon), electronic ignition and unleaded cylinder head. The last owner suffered from a disability and fitted a changeable right to left throttle pedal which can be changed from one side to the other with a twist of a switch. However, this can easily be removed if it is not required. Austin A60 Cambridge, 1964. Finished in two-tone colours of Persian Blue and Snowberry White with pale blue leather trimmed interior. This is probably the best example that you could ever find. This incredible car was purchased new by Laurence Griffin on 16th March, 1964 from the Royal Ascot Garage, Ascot. He paid 755 for it, which also included 10 for the Radiomobile radio. This car has remained in his ownership ever since. Mr Griffin, a most fastidious and dedicated owner, kept and maintained this car to the highest order, never taking it out in the wet and certainly never driving on salted roads. This superbly preserved model was garaged throughout the winter and raised up on axle stands to avoid flat spots on the tyres. In the early years he used Dinotrol and in the later years he used Waxyol as an anti corrosion balm. This car has an interesting range of period accessories and personal modifications carried out meticulously by Mr Griffin who never used the car as his daily driver, preferringinstead to only bring it out in fine weather during high days and holy days. Some of the accessories and modifications are as follows :- A voltmeter, ammeter, battery indicator gauge, vacuum gauge, rev counter, battery isolator switch etc. Also, an After market kit which works as a method of injecting Redex into the engine to act as an upper cylinder lubricant. There is a canister in the engine bay which holds the Redex and a small button on the dash which is pressed to inject the lubricant. Due to Mr Griffin's regime of maintenance and outstanding care, this car, which has only covered a genuine 30,000 miles from new and has never been restored, is virtually in the same condition as it was in on the day it left the factory in 1964. Supplied with a huge history file including original brochures, stamp service book from Royal Ascot Garage, invoices, magazine articles etc.. and on the original boot mat on the floor is a host of spares. Unique opportunity to acquire a 54 year old, One Owner from new,Austin A60 Cambridge that has only covered a genuine 30,000 miles from new. This unrestored A60 Cambridge is in unrepeatable condition and drives perfectly. Must be seen to be believed!
