This wonderful Austin A40 Farina Mkl saloon will be one of the best examples left in existance. As shown on the Heritage Certificate, it was built on 2nd April 1959 and registered new on 9th April by L F Dove of Croydon and given the registration number VOY182 which it still wears today. Its first owner only had the car for three years until 1962 when he died and left the car to a family friend in his will. This friend kept it for 15 years until 1977 when he passed it on to his son, a Rolls Royce engineer and long serving respected committee member of the A40 Farina Club, who kept the car for 39 years until he died in 2016. This engineer had a full body restoration carried out on the car in 1992 by Auto-Renovations of Chesterfield with new panels supplied by the Radford Panel Company of Warwick. The original invoices for this work at a cost of £2511.74 are in the history file. Since this work the car has only covered around 10000 careful miles travelling to dozens of classic car shows of which details are in the history file. It has been a prize winner on more than one occasion. In March 2007, the long term owner had a full engine rebuild at a cost of £1224.27 and since then the car has only covered 3302 miles. In November 2013 it was featured in seven page article in Practical Classics magazine testing Swinging Sixties saloons. Two copies of the magazine are included in the history file. Recently it has been part of a private collection and has only come onto the market as the collector has limited storage and it needed to be sold to make room for a newly purchased 1930s saloon. The current MOT runs until October 2018 although it is now MOT exempt and the car will be licensed for twelve months from the date of sale for the new owner at no cost as the car qualifies for the Historic Taxation class. The current recorded mileage is 60137. The very large history file contains the current V5, copies of previous V5s, the current MOT certificate, 33 previous MOT certificates dating back to the 1970s, invoices for parts and work completed, insurance policies over many years and lists of classic car shows attended along with a charming hand-written fuel log book. Classic 1960s motoring and likely to be an excellent investment. Prospective buyers are welcome to come and view the car in our Leeds showroom. Please ring to make an appointment to view. UK wide professional delivery is available. Please ring for a quote. We are also happy to deliver to any mainland port for export. 1952 Austin A40 Sports Lot Number: Estimate: 6,000 - 8,000 V5 Present Chassis number: GD3686941 1,200cc. This Austin A40 Sports has been owned by the same family from new, having first been purchased as birthday present for the vendor's grandmother. The original fixtures and fittings, including the original leather seats, have been retained. Last MoT'd in 2009, the car has been unused since. The history file includes the original buff log book, 2009 tax disc, MoTs from 2005 until 2009 and an Austin Counties Car Club disc dated 1956. The mileage is recorded at 98,036.

1954 AUSTIN A40 SOMERSET DROPHEAD COUPE (1 owner only 24000 miles )Finished in light grey with dark grey leather trim and matching grey hood. The Somerset was made to replace the Austin A40 Sports car. This motorcar was purchased new on 22/7/1954 by Miss Chadwick of Wimslow in Cheshire. Chassis number GD875058, engine number 1G991469 and registration number UFM 543. All numbers are matching. The body was made by Carbodies of Coventry and differed from the saloon in having separate front seats that fold forward to give access to the rear. This is a very original and unmolested solid example which does need work but is, in my opinion, an easy restoration. It has taken me 30 to 40 years to find one of these for sale as my father had one when I was small and nostalgia being what it is, has encouraged me to search for one for such a long time. This one is a lovely car but I have sadly easlised that I just do not have the space to keep it nor the time to realise its full potential. We can ascertain fromthe servicing schedules that the car has covered 8189 miles by 11/4/1978, 11494 miles by 23/8/1978, 13043 miles by 31/5/1979, 15296 miles by 30/5/1980, 17863 miles by 04/6/1981, 19543 miles by 27/11/1981 by the original lady owner from new. The mileage today is an incredibly low 24622 miles. So, what we have is very low mileage example which starts first time, runs very well and drives like new. Features include 3 position hood, leather trim, period badges, wing mirror, toolkit etc.History folder includes current V5, DVLA paperwork, old road tax discs and holder, original sales catalogue, running in and maintenance records instruction booklet, previous invoices, service schedules, motor fuel ration book, original Shell lubrication red plastic folder, AA way ahead mag, ordinance survey 1977 route planning map, AA membership handbooks 1980 to 81 and 1982 to 83, folders and envelopes, letter 10/8/2018 confirming purchased brand new by Miss Chadwick and passed to her nephew on her demise, mileage andownership confirmed by our agent who sourced the car for us, AA information for Miss Chadwick membership number M.289854 and Wikipedia information on the A40 Somerset. As my own experience testifies, it is rare to find this model for sale as there are few made and very few still surviving. This is a unique opportunity to own a lovely solid and rare A40 Somerset Drophead coupe with extremely low mileage.
