In June 1997 Aston Martin unveiled a unique DB7 derivative that had been produced for Alfred Dunhill, the leading British company specialising in men's clothing and a range of luxury goods including writing implements, lighters, timepieces and fragrances. The car used design cues from many Alfred Dunhill products for the instruments, the interior appointments, various fittings and the exterior finish; in particular, elements of the 'Millennium' range of watches and the AD 2000 pen collection which were being launched later that year. Special platinum metallic paintwork was chosen for the exterior and also for the wheels, the centres of which were inspired by the design of the Dunhill Millennium watch. The interior was upholstered in a contrasting Charcoal Connolly hide piped in silver grey, the traditional Aston Martin walnut veneers being replaced with brushed aluminium panels. Although the accompanying press release stated that the Alfred Dunhill DB7 was a unique model and not for sale, it wasannounced in December 1997 that production of up to 150 similar examples would begin in 1998, no doubt in response to demands from prospective customers. Two versions were to be offered a smoking and non smoking; the latter featuring a Dunhill grooming kit instead of the humidor. In the event, only 80-or-so Dunhill cars had been completed in both coupe and Volante convertible versions before the DB7 was discontinued which makes this EXTREMELY collectable. The wonderful DB7 Dunhill Edition offered here is number 57 of 150 and is supplied with all bookpacks, spare keys, the press release and a superb service record detailing 22 service stamps (many of which are Works Service) and 14 MOTs. This is all supported by original invoices and original literature. My own car....

First registered July 2001 (Y Reg) this Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Volante has been in single local ownership since July 2006 when it was last sold with 33,000 miles recorded. Finished in Dunhill Silver with Black Hood and Light Grey and Charcoal Interior. In March 1999 the DB7 Vantage and Vantage Volante made their debut at the annual Geneva Motorshow. The new Vantage models featured an all new 6.0 litre V12 engine producing 420 bhp at 6,000 rpm. A top speed of 165 mph was claimed for the Volante with a 0 to 60 mph time of 5 seconds. In addition to the new power-train the Vantage model had more aggressive styling, with a bigger front grille, new fog/side/indicator lights and imposing 18 wheels with Bridgestone S02 tyres. This DB7 was initially serviced by Stratstone of Wilmslow at: 1,000 miles; 9,200 miles; 15,500 miles; 19,600 miles; 20,650 miles and 28,470 miles in February 2005. Straight Eight of Lyndhurst carried out a service at 31,400 miles prior to sale to most recent keeper; who has had itlooked after by a single specialist and has been serviced by them at:41,000 miles; 42,500 miles; 43,500 miles; 50,600 miles; 56,500 miles; 58,700 miles and 65,480 miles last serviced 1st October 2018. The majority of the work done in the past twelve or so year is supported by invoices which attest to very thorough maintenance including new coils at 56,000 miles in 2015 and in October 2018 new discs and pads all round. The Volante variant of the DB7 Vantage has always been sought after and its values are firm and, in our opinion, only likely to rise. We believe this example to be the most competitively priced example available in the UK right now. These cars are an absolute delight to drive.

Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1993, the DB7 was scheduled to follow the DB6 (now there is a surprise), but because of marketing it was the DBS and we had to wait for 27 years for the DB7 to appear. Originally, it was the brainchild of Victor Gauntlet, who first suggested a new smaller Aston Martin in 1990. Production was to be sited at a new factory in Milton Keynes. However, the advent of the Ford Motor Company not only provided funding but also the dynamic Walter Hayes. Code-named DP1999, development of the new car was charged to Rod Mansfield, Engineering Director. In 1993, at the invitation of Walter Hayes, Sir David Brown became life president of Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd. This provided the perfect opportunity to revive the DB prefix. The new production was established at Bloxham, near Banbury and Aston Martin Oxford Ltd was born. Chassis number sequence begins at: 100,001. The body is a semi-monocoque shell with composite materials used for some of the outer panels. The designedby Ian Callum captures the very essence of 'Aston Martin'. The elegant shaped radiator opening and the consequence compound curves of the front of the bonnet can be traced back to the DB3S. The sculpted interior with its predominate curved lines, is trimmed in Connolly leather and further complimented by burr walnut panels. After the DB7 had been in production for some four years, demand for more performance prompted a joint engineering programme between Fords advanced vehicle technology department and Cosworth engineering. The DB7 Vantage coupe and Volante was introduced at The Geneva Salon on the 9th March 1999 and marked the production of the first 12-cylinder Aston Martin. The engine is an all alloy multi valve 6.0 Litre V12 producing 420 horsepower with a top speed of 180 m.p.h. and able to accelerate to 60 m.p.h. in 5.0 seconds. Controlled by a sophisticated Visteon electronic engine management system offering monitoring and coordination of many parameters such as ignition strategy, tractioncontrol, exhaust emission and diagnostics, this engine employs the most advanced manufacturing techniques and use of composites. Both 6-Speed close ratio manual and a ZF 5-speed automatic transmission option was available. To cope with the extra performance, the chassis and drive train underwent some changes to improve tensional rigidity. Suspension improvements included new upper and lower wishbones and rear vertical links, revised damping ratings and new more ridged Bilstein shock absorbers. Brakes linked to the Teves 4 channel electronic anti-lock control systems, Brembo callipers bite on 355 mm cross-drilled disk to the front, 330 mm to the rear. The Vantage was equipped with specially designed 15' diameter road wheels, shod with ZR rated Bridgestone SO2 tyres special to the Aston Martin requirements. Bodyworks enhancements were limited to slightly flared sills and a larger opening front air intake finished with a new bright work slated grille. Front and rear bumpers were improved in impactabsorption, the rear under bumper section redesigned to accommodate the larger bore exhaust tailpipes. New front driving lights and indicators were featured as an integral part of the deeper more aerodynamic front air dam and a high-level third brake light to meet current legislation. Cockpit changes were limited to improved instrumentation, more comfortable and supportive multifunctional heated sports seating for driver and passenger, the engine now being fired by way of a red starter button positioned in the centre console below a more traditional analogue clock. As with exterior coachwork, customers were now able to choose from virtually any interior leather and finishing combination along with a selection of veneer and inlays of alternative materials such as Aluminium and Carbon Fibre. Summary:; In a crowded market place, Aston Martins always stand head and shoulders above the rest and there is recognition of the DB7 Vantage as a modern classic. To some people, a car is just a set of wheels -to many Aston Martin owners, their car is a passion and so it is with the current owner of this DB7 Vantage. You can measure that in the 25,000 spent during his ownership, his involvement with Vantage Magazine in showing off his pride and joy - maybe it is his attendance at a lecture given by Ian Callum, the car's designer together with subsequent correspondence. That passion delivers excellence in a modern classic and definitely one for your shopping list. Vehicle History; This lovely DB7 Vantage was supplied new by PJ Evans of Birmingham to a Mr Pryjmachuk on 28th March 2002 - PJ Evans maintained the car (and stamped the book) through to 12th November 2005 when it was sold to its second registered keeper, Stratstones of Wilmslow in Cheshire and strangely enough the next service was with Stratstones but in Cardiff on 15th December 2005 with a recorded mileage of 45,624. A third Stratstones branch, Derby, sold the car on 15th May 2006 to the third owner a Mr E Hirst who continued the exemplarymaintenance of the car at Stratstones of Derby until the car was sold to the current owner when the mileage was recorded around 66,000 miles. Since that time, it can be seen that the car has covered barely 5,000 miles and it would be fair to say that the car has had care lavished upon it. As well as routine maintenance, Chiltern Aston were commissioned to carry out body maintenance and repair, bumper brackets and skirt brackets have all been replaced, a new front nearside wing fitted when bubbles started appearing through the composite. Both rear quarters were stripped with any corrosion addressed and waxoyl pumped into voids. New badges, GT switchgear, aluminium pedals, new wheel centres, new wheel nuts, new brake calipers - the list is extensive. As the owner says 'At least the buyer won't face the 6,000 bill that I paid out on my first service!'; The car appeared in an article in Vantage magazine (a copy comes with the car) and the Handbook sports the autograph of Ian Callum from when the ownermet him after a lecture - yes, this is a real enthusiast's car just ready for its new owner to enjoy. The owner and his wife retired to France near Limousin and although the well maintained smooth roads (without potholes ) in France and the lovely weather are perfect for the DB&, another project calls and so the Aston is reluctantly going to have to pay for it!
