Refined, rare and exceptionally low mileage, the Aston Martin Virage Volante we are pleased to offer was built and delivered in 1993 to UK specifications. Delivered to multiple Aston Martin owning and avid classic car collector, H.R.H King Hussein of Jordan, whilst on a tour of the Newport Pagnell factory where it was constructed. The model first shown at the Birmingham International Motor Show in 1990, was a £145,000 replacement for the V8 Volante and remained in limited production until 1996, by when just over 200 examples had been built. Equipped with 330 bhp, refrigerated climate control, ABS braking, Airbag safety equipment and a power operated hood, the Virage Volantes old school charms combined with its modern conveniences, combine perfectly the characteristics required for a continental tour in the grand style, or a simple weekend break. Relaxed, comfortable and with sufficient power to achieve over 150 mph, this distinguished Midnight Blue hand built Aston Martin, with just 14,800 miles covered, has recently received a major service and preparation in our workshops. Ready for the coming open top season, the car is supplied complete with original handbooks, service records and MOT certificates.

  • Auction: 6th/7th Mar 2020 - RM Sotheby's - Amelia Island Auction

To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys' Amelia Island event, 6 - 7 March 2020. Ordered new by Georges Marciano, founder of Guess JeansOne of only 20 Virage Volantes sold directly to North AmericaFinished in attractive Suffolk Red over Parchment Two owners since new; presents extremely well throughout When the first Virage Volante rolled off the line at Newport Pagnell in 1992, Aston Martin had just announced the option of a 6.3-liter conversionavailable to owners of both the coupes and the convertible Volantes. The new Virage Volantes would go directly across the road to Works Service, where much of the bodywork was immediately replaced. Many of these Virage Volantes received the upgraded bodywork but retained the original 5.3-liter engine. They are often referred to as wide body Volantes due to the enlarged wheel arches, such as the example offered here. Other changes to the bodywork included an enlarged front air dam and a mostly aesthetic bolt-on rear spoiler.First ordered byGuess Jeans founder Georges Marciano, this Virage Volante was delivered through Rolls-Royce of Beverly Hills. Ordered in red with a white top, the Volante remains in its original colors of Suffolk Red over Parchment leather with Burgundy piping and a Cream Everflex convertible top. Throughout Mr. Marcianos ownership, invoices show minor work performed by the authorized dealership in keeping with a rarely used vehicle, including a battery replacement in October 1996.The current owner purchased the Virage in June 1997, and a statement dating from that time notes the recorded mileage at just 1,280 miles. In 2009 the Virage Volante moved with the owner from Georgia to Florida, and in 12 years the car had done just over 2,000 milesa testament to how carefully it was maintained. The following decade saw the Virage Volante lovingly preserved, and it now presents in original condition with the odometer reading 4,700 miles.Offered with original service invoices and a clean CARFAX report, this wide bodyVirage Volante is made even rarer by its North American provenance and original condition. To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/am20.

This is an exceptional, rare and significant car that comes with great provenance. Our Aston Martin Virage Volante factory Wide body was first owned and first registered by Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd with their very own factory display plate 'AM V8'. Aston Martin Works confirm in writing this car was first owned Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd presumably for marketing and display purposes given internal invoices on file for valeting is charged out to the Marketing Department. We know the registration mark 'AM V8' was used at the time for factory 'showcase' demonstrators at various European Motor Shows and this car was used to showcase the new factory Widebody specification that was available for a further cost of in the region of 60,000. Owners of these cars could return their cars to the factory for this very special upgrade but naturally it is the genuine factory original Widebody cars that are the more desirable and valuable. Only 26 factory built Widebody cars were ever produced and further provenancewith this car is in the fact that it is the first vehicle built with the improved specification and this is shown in the parts manual where this car, chassis number 60193 is referred to at the top of some pages as the start point of where specification changed. Not only does this car hold exceptional provenance, it has only covered a genuine 24,000 miles from new and comes with its original handbooks and service book, spare keys, letter from Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd confirming warranty repairs and mileages in the cars early life, the majority of main dealer receipts and invoices and even a compliment slip to the last owner from the Factory Master Technician who conducted the original PDI. The certificate of ownership confirms the car was registered new 'AM V8', owned by Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd, Newport Pagnell and on the 12th January 1995 the car was PDI inspected by G.Higgs. The first service was conducted on the 20th February 1995 by Aston Martin Works at Newport Pagnell where it has beenmaintained for most of its life. The service book has been stamped at Newport Pagnell at 4730, 5495, 6567, 7211, 8389, 10598, 12908, 13991, 14624 and at 15293 miles Aston Martin HWM Walton on Thames serviced the car. The Aston Martin was back with the Works at Newport Pagnell at 18022, 18877, 19797 and 20690 miles meaning the car had fifteen Aston Martin main dealer services in the first 20,000 or so miles, fourteen of those being with Aston Martin Works. More recently, in 2017 at 22912 miles the Aston Martin had over 10,000 spent with prominent Aston Martin classic specialists in the South of England. This included a rebuilt engine ECU, re-conditioned alternator, new assembly cooling fans and various re-commissioning. The most recent service was carried out at 23458 miles and the car has arrived with us in exceptional condition. This Aston Martin Virage Volante is finished in its correct colour of British Racing Green and the body and paintwork are presented in beautiful condition. The originalGreen piped Parchment leather is stunning as expected with such a low mileage and it's no surprise the car has won some recent show events with its last owner. The Black mohair hood is in excellent order and this fantastic, unique factory car has enormous presence and with its detailed engine bay and remarkably clean underbody there is no doubt this is a car for the discerning buyer/collector. Our Virage Volante 6.3 Cosmetic is truly outstanding in every respect and on the road the car is sensational with impressive performance, acceleration, handling with real quality, luxury and comfort. This is a very special car to own and is somewhat unrepeatable. Price: 139,995

Aston Martins replacement for the V8 model was the Virage which was introduced at the Birmingham Motor Show in 1988. This V8 powered car was intended as the company's top model with their six-cylinder, 1994 DB7 slotted below it but this V8 model (by then in Vantage form) remained the exclusive, expensive and hand built king of Astons. The Virage was a large, heavy car in spite of its all aluminium body, but the 32 valve, 5.3 litre, V8 engines elevated its performance to sports car levels. Acceleration just never seems to run out, claimed Sports Car International on a first test. They also praised the eager and quicker revving nature of the engine with its Callaway designed heads and Weber Marelli fuel injection. The Virage Volante debuted at the 1990 Birmingham Motor Show with production examples beginning in 1992 featuring 2+2 seating. Originally registered on 10th June 1992, this Aston Martin is owned by a classic car enthusiast and presents in very good order. The blue metallic coachwork isunblemished as is the blue hood. This highly collectable Virage Volante benefits from a good service record, included within the receipts is a bill from Ian Mason Aston Martin Service on 11th November 2005, at 24,880 miles, for removal and skimming of the cylinder heads, costing over £16,000. The car is described by the vendor as driving well with no known mechanical faults, although he is aware of a problem with the odometer which is a common issue on these models, records indicate that the car had covered 34,021 miles in February 2019 and has covered minimal mileage since. It is supplied with a V5C registration document, together with the AMV 4S registration plate. A service will be carried out on the car by Kent Performance Cars prior to auction as well as an MoT test. Only 233 Virage Volantes were manufactured and sold by Aston Martin and with later examples creeping up in price, any Volante looks to be a sound future investment proposition. In particular, this vehicle, with its good condition,is a great opportunity for the serious investor or collector to acquire one of the last hand built cars made by Aston Martin.

Ahead of the companys forthcoming twin-supercharged Vantage, Aston Martins Service Department offered 6.3 litre conversions for the existing 5,340cc V8 engined Virage. Introduced in January 1992, this package increased power by around 40 per cent whilst offering a menu of modifications to the bodywork, suspension, and brakes - now featuring ABS for the first time - and it could be ordered new or retro-fitted to customers existing cars with almost all of these options having been carried out to a bespoke specification. Chassis number 50084 was manufactured as a standard coupé with automatic transmission and was originally finished in Lagonda Red with Slate Grey trim piped in dark red. Delivered complete with a Sony DJ CD audio system, at a cost of £127,155.24 in 1990. Its first owner was one M. Hendry of London W1, whose company, Cenargo International, purchased the car on 1st August 1990 via Aston Martin Sales, London SW7, a copy of the order placed at AM Sales in November 1988 can be found in thehistory file. The car was registered H737 XUV which is supplied with the car today. In 1993, the car underwent conversion to full 6.3 specification (body/engine/six-speed gearbox) by Aston Martin Lagonda, as detailed by a specification listing and related bills for £78,000 on file. At the same time the car was repainted in British Racing Green and retrimmed in grey leather with green piping and matching carpets. The registration was changed to 11 XXX in 1994. In May 1998, the car returned to AML for an engine and transmission rebuild, while at the same time the rear panel and boot lid were converted to Vantage specification, and a 1998 Vantage-specification dashboard and airbag installed (see bill for £35,000). It would appear that a new speedometer was also fitted, as the mileage in January 2000 is recorded as 4,064 (it had been 22,785 in June 1997). The current odometer reading is circa 11,000 miles, which is assumed to be the distance covered since the dashboard upgrade. In 2000, the originalowner bought the Aston from his company, and it continued to be looked after by Aston Martin Works up to 2001. Thereafter the car appears to have seen little use, the next service record being a bill for £7,700 from Trinity Engineering in 2009. The current (second) owner purchased the car in 2014 and has spent in excess of £13,000 in the period since. The car has been regularly maintained by Trinity Engineering during his ownership with a similar level of more recent expenditure. Presented in very good condition, this unique 6.3 litre Virage works special comes complete with handbook, V5C registration document, a current MoT test certificate, sundry old tax discs, and the service booklet recording its entire history with Aston Martin Works Service and subsequent specialists.
