Vintage and Prestige are proud to offer this 1958 Alvis TD21 Coachwork by Graber LHD For Sale. Registration no: TBC Chassis no: 25971 Graber commission no: 722 Mileage: 83,000 Price: 90,000.00 The first production Alvis to be styled by Swiss carrossier Graber appeared at the Paris Motor Show in October 1955. Based on the existing TC21 'Grey Lady' chassis, the newcomer brought a much-needed injection of Continental style and modernity to the Coventry manufacturer's range. Lighter, stiffer and with a much smaller frontal area than the traditionally styled Grey Lady, the Graber Alvis enjoyed much improved handling and a higher maximum speed in excess of 100mph. The first Graber-styled model - the TC108G - was built by coachbuilders Willowbrook, before production switched to Rolls-Royce's in-house coachbuilder Park Ward on the introduction of the restyled TD21 for 1959. The TD21 retained Alvis's torquey, 3.0-litre, overhead-valve six, which in up-rated form now came with 120bhp courtesy of a redesigned cylinder head. Inside, there were improvements to the accommodation, with increased headroom and legroom, especially in the rear. Lockheed servo-assisted disc brakes were an option, becoming standardised for 1960. The Motor magazine summed up the TD21 thus: 'As a perfectly serviceable everyday car with extra "chic", extra performance, and high standards of comfort and safety, its appeal to a select but important clientele should be strong.' Although Park Ward was entrusted with the production models, this left-hand drive example has coachwork by Hermann Graber, who continued to offer his own versions on the TD21 chassis. The TD21 is offered in excellent condition having received an extensive restoration from marque experts Earely Engeneering. The Graber bodylines are truly mesmerising and complimented by the Ice green paintwork, which also flows through the interior. The interior is also finished to a high standard with fluted leather to the seats, and a quilted transmission tunnel. A beautiful wooden Nardi steering wheel has been fitted, the original also comes with the car. To drive she is beautiful, the 3.0 litre engine has been well maintained and is strong with plenty of torque. The power all runs through the 5 speed Getrag gearbox which is incredibly smooth, before you know it you are in top gear and cruising along comfortably. The current Dutch owner has used her for several tours. A subtle EZ power steering system has been fitted for ease and wire wheels for aesthetics. In our showroom and ready for viewing. This beautiful low mileage Charlesworth bodied Alvis Speed 20 left the factory on the 20th March 1934. The Alvis was sold new by Brooklands Motor Company and first registered on the 3rd July 1934 in Liverpool, allocated the registration mark LV 9363. On the 24th March 1938 the car changed hands for the first time and the Alvis was last taxed by its second owner in March 1956. LV 9363 then spent forty-one years off the road having been found during the 1990's by its third owner. A sympathetic body off restoration was carried out where as much originality was retained as possible. A fine balance between restoration and conservation was found and demonstrated, and the Alvis then put back on the road and MOT tested in 1997 with a mileage of 34488. Photo records of rolling body off chassis are with the detailed history file. The Alvis was supplied new with the 'Charlesworth' body, said by many to be one of the most elegant. LV 9363 also has the provenance of retaining its original engine and is amatching numbers car. Information in the history file also confirms the car was on parade at Buckingham Palace for the 80th Birthday Celebrations for Her Majesty The Queen and a photo is on file showing the car within the Palace Gates. The impressive file with the car also includes an original brown 'buff' logbook. Between 1997 and 2013 the Alvis covered in the region of 7000 miles and then sold to an Alvis collector in Strassfurt, a town in the Salzlandkreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. From 2013 to 2017 the car had been kept as part of an impressive collection of Alvis Motor Cars and US Motorcycles, and covered some gentle use in Germany. On arrival back into the UK, we sold the Speed 20 to the Chairman of the Alvis Owner's Club who has enjoyed driving and further improving this beautifully presented example. The Speed 20 has now covered in the region of 9000 miles since the restoration and drives very well. The six cylinder performs beautifully with smooth power delivery and very goodoil pressure. The engine is lovely and quiet, no concerning noises or smoking, it's just delightful and commensurate with a low mileage, gently used engine. The syncomesh gearbox is perfect to use and changes up and down perfectly, the steering feels good and the car offers impressive performance. The Alvis, twenty years on since restoration retains an impressive, deep paint finish in the popular combination of Black over Maroon. The original leather is still in place and is beautiful with so much patina. The carpets and headlining have been replaced and are excellent, door cards are lovely and original, the dashboard and gauges are superb and very impressive. With just 42000 miles and in such highly original good condition, this Speed 20 is something quite collectable and special. It also has a proven track record to show its capable of covering miles, whether long distance or short, this is a stunning Alvis with provenance. Price: 59,995

The 12/50 is a significant model in Alvis history for many reasons. It was the car that really marked the arrival of Alvis as a serious and successful car maker and set the standard for the remainder of the company's car production. Alvis took the basic side valve design and converted it to pushrod overhead valves in 1923 and all subsequent production Alvis cars had overhead valves. It was immediately apparent that this was a quite exceptional 1500cc sports car and, with minor changes, it was reborn as the immortal 12/50; the very quintessence of the vintage sports car. The 12/50 was produced over a long period but discontinued in 1929 when the firm pinned its faith on the front-wheel drive models. When these failed to win wide acceptance, the 12/50 was hastily re-introduced and is believed to have saved the firm. The Alvis 12/50 is notably regarded as one of the definitive vintage cars with a perfect balance of power, road holding and braking. The model is well reported of having real durabilityand reliability, contributing factors being the ultra strong chassis and impressive mechanical design. The 12/50 model was in production for ten years and we believe 3616 were built with less than 500 survivors known by the Alvis Club. VE 5158 was first registered on the 13th May 1931 and from an original brown 'buff' logbook we can confirm this well travelled four seat tourer spent the 1950's and early 1960's in Hertfordshire, from 1963 to 1970 in Edinburgh, 1970-1972 in Lincoln, 1972 - 1974 in Newcastle, late 1970's in the North West then Derbyshire and from 1984 the Alvis spent 26 years in Berkshire before selling to the most recent owner in Bromsgrove in 2010. The Alvis comes with an exceptional history file with restoration invoices dating back to the 1970's and MOT certificates dating back to 1983 indicate the Alvis has covered 9000 miles in the past 35 years and has been kept roadworthy and on the road throughout this period. Fascinating letters, correspondence and restoration paperwork gointo great detail and in a letter dated 22nd January 1974 we learn the Alvis was owned by the secretary of the VSCC in Scotland during the 1960's. We also learn the Alvis was used for some hillclimb events in the 1960's before becoming an every day car for one of its Scottish owners in the late 1960's. It was often driven from Edinburgh to Ayr over the Lanarkshire Moors and used for touring holidays. The owner then moved to Lincoln and in 1972 and the Alvis the owner treated the car to some major work to include an engine rebuild to include re-metalling all main and big end bearings, the clutch was re-lined and the dynamo was overhauled. Invoices and related paperwork tell us the Alvis was subject of more restoration work during the late 1980's and its long term owner continued to spend money on the car right throughout his ownership of almost 30 years. Major work during the 1990's included stripping and repairing the gearbox, major work to the exhaust manifold, re-conditioning of the clutch, replacing water pipes, engine and gearbox mountings, carrying out rocker shaft modifications, new exhaust sections, overhauling brakes, replacing springs and spring bushes, replacing the rear cross shaft, stripping and rebuilding the steering box, renewing floor boards, new side-screens and hood, re-trimming the interior, restoring the headlamps, carrying out paintwork and carrying out various re-wiring work. Over the past eight years the most recent owner has also maintained the Alvis very well, and invoices detail work to include new distributor, drive gears, replacing carburettor components, new cylinder head gasket and inlet and exhaust gaskets and regular servicing. VE 5158 has had two owners in 35 years, has covered 9000 miles in this time and has been thoroughly enjoyed and proven a true pleasure to own. This Alvis 12/50 TJ Tourer presents very well with its beautiful four seat tourer body. The metal work is in excellent order and the 1990's bright paint finish has a lovely aged finish butdoes have evidence of micro-blistering. The car has the look of a very genuine, honest and correct, nicely aged car but paintwork improvements can be discussed if necessary. Brightwork is still of a good standard, the interior is beautifully presented with a lovely patina and the full weather gear is in excellent order. The strong robust chassis is in excellent order and on the road the Alvis performs very well and is very happy at 45-50MPH. The gearbox bearings are particularly quiet, the four cylinder engine performs superbly and sounds delightful and the 12/50 handles and brakes well. VE 5158 is a very charming, well sorted older restoration that has a lovely history and is useable, presentable and incredibly desirable in its correct four seat tourer format. Price: 33,995
