Manufactured from 1966 to 1993, the Alfa Romeo Spider is widely regarded as a design classic. It remained in production for almost three decades with only minor aesthetic and mechanical changes. The last Spider was produced in April 1993 and the last rear wheel drive Alfa Romeo produced before Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione was introduced on 23rd May 2012. The first presentation of the car, as a prototype, was at the Turin Motor Show in 1961. However, the continuing success of existing models and the economic challenges facing Italy at the time meant that the first pre-launch production Spiders only began to emerge from the Pininfarina production line at the end of 1965. This Alfa Romeo has the desirable 1750cc engine and is an original righthand drive example having been registered in the UK on 13th March 1970. The red coachwork is in good order as is the matching trim. The car spent a number of years in Gibraltar as part of a private collection before returning to the UK a few years ago; fortunatelyshe has retained the original registration plate of AMK 911H. The vendor is a knowledgeable classic car enthusiast and we are advised she drives with no known faults. Supplied with a V5 registration document and a full years MoT test certificate together with some invoices, this Alfa Romeo is a good and highly useable example of a Spider Veloce. ]]

Very occasionally, a motorcar is presented that surprises us with its extraordinary condition; this is one of those occasions. We are delighted to offer this 1970 Alfa Romeo Spider 1300 Junior that was supplied and first registered in the UK on 16th March 1970. This car was discovered in Gloucestershire in 2018 where it had stood in a garage, without being used or started, for many years. Since that discovery, this Junior has been sympathetically recommissioned and, we think youll agree, is in remarkable condition today. Since its discovery last year, works have been carried out to bring this Roundtail Spider back to life. These works included four new brake calipers, new brake master cylinder, new clutch assembly, clutch master and slave cylinders, new water pump, re-cored radiator, front crankshaft seal, new rear springs, four adjustable Koni shock absorbers, steering joints, rubber floor mats and a new, professionally fitted, lined, mohair hood with new window seals attached. So often, a motorcar is let down by cheap tyres including a poor spare; however, five new Pirelli Cinturato tyres have been fitted to match the rest of the standard of this Spider. It is in the area of the coachwork that this Alfa Romeo really shines. The Juniors were built down to a price so that the younger generation of the period could afford a sporting Alfa Romeo. This resulted in the larger engined sibling headlight covers being omitted and all of the coachwork panel seam lines being exposed. These seams, on the sills, the front valance and by the Alfa Romeo front grille are often removed during poor restoration; however they are reassuringly present on this example. The amazing condition continues when looking at the door seams which appear as if the car has just come from the factory. The rear valance lip that continues into the rear quarter valances and finally and subtly blending out, are still factory fresh. The front nose section, engine bay and especially the boot area under the rubber mat, are all inexceptional condition, even the inner sill drain holes are all as new. The Juniors were pitted against their larger siblings, the 1600 Duetto and 1750cc Roundtail Spiders; however, the 1290cc engine is no mean performer, being a very revvable and smooth unit; a perfectly capable performer even in modern traffic conditions. We are informed that on a recent compression test, each cylinder recorded 190 lbf/in2; an excellent result for this type of unit. The history file includes an Owners Instruction Book, three sets of keys, old MoT test certificates, a period black and white photograph, a UK V5C registration document with three previous recorded keepers and an MoT test certificate valid until April 2020. Presented in Pininfarina Rosso with a contrasting black interior, this delightful Alfa Romeo really shines and is offered at a fraction of the cost of a restoration to bring a car to this standard. With back up from an excellent spares network offered by many UK specialists and with their twin camengines, five-speed gearboxes and disc brakes all around, these Roundtail Spiders are surely, not only a piece of automotive art, but a very usable and practical classic. Lake Como here we come. ]]

Few would disagree that Alfa Romeo make superb convertible motorcars. And so the legend continues with the Giulietta Spider, proportionally perfect and powered by Alfas classic all-alloy twin overhead camshaft engine with gearing via a four speed, all synchromesh gearbox. Although the 1900 had been its first successful post-war model, it was Alfa Romeo's next offering, the 1.3-litre Giulietta which established the 'small car, big performance' formula that would characterise the Milanese marque's finest offerings from then on. The Giulietta's arrival in 1954 caused a sensation and the original Giulietta Sprint Coupé was soon joined by Berlina and Spider versions sporting elegant coachwork designed and built by Pininfarina. Described by Cars Illustrated as probably one of the most delightful small sports cars which will ever be produced, the Giulietta Spider is certainly one of the most attractive Alfa Romeos of its day and remains highly regarded. Presented today is an outstanding example of theAlfa Romeo Giulietta Spider. It was manufactured in November 1960, delivered to the US importer in the spring of 1961 and subsequently sold to a Californian resident. Imported into the UK in early 2011, it has since undergone a no expense spared complete restoration. The body itself was soda blasted back to bare metal whereupon it was found to be in excellent condition with no welding works required. The entire coachwork, inside, underneath (treated with modern stone chip protection) and external panels were etched-primed and refinished in the original colour of Alfa Rosso. Mechanically, the engine was stripped, cleaned and reassembled with new bearings, piston rings, exhaust valves, timing chains as well as a reconditioned water pump and a new exhaust system. All of the suspension components were powder coated and overhauled where required. The original wheels have been refurbished and fitted with new 165x15 radial tyres. Detailed works include; re-chroming of the front and rear bumpers, theoriginal grille, door handles and sundry items. To finish, this Giulietta has been re-trimmed by renowned Alfa Romeo specialists, Coburns of Swindon, works that include the original specification; black vinyl seats and red carpets. A new mohair hood has also being fitted by the same specialists. More recently, the engine has undergone another complete rebuild and a more modern five speed gearbox fitted more in keeping with todays motoring conditions. Prices for these convertible Giuliettas have been rising strongly and this stunning example represents on opportunity to acquire one at a fraction of the re-build cost.]]
