  • Auction: 16th/17th Aug 2019 - RM Sotheby's - Monterey Auction

To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys' Monterey event, 15 - 17 August 2019. Offered from the Swig family collection Higher-performance Turismo Internazionale variantMatching-numbers engineJust over 35,000 km with original finishes throughoutA low-mileage, preservation-class example Following the introduction of the Giulietta Sprint coupe in 1954 and Giulietta spider the following year, Alfa Romeo completed its Giulietta model lineup with the four-door berlina. A higher-performance T.I. (Turismo Internazionale) version was offered starting in 1957, and it proved popular among European enthusiasts who desired a practical sedan with sporting capabilities. Giulietta T.I.s were often seen competing successfully in European rallies such as the Coupes des Alpes and Rallye Monte Carlo in the late 1950s and early 1960s.Offered is an early-series Giulietta T.I. in remarkably original condition, with just over 35,000 original kilometers from new. It was purchased in Italy by the late MartinSwig in 2002, in a deal facilitated by former Ferrari and Maserati Works racing driver Gino Munaron. It was subsequently imported to California, where it has remained as part of the Swig family collection for the past 17 years.Original details abound on this preservation-class example, including factory plaid upholstery, T.I.-specific tachometer, 15-inch Fergat wheels, and the small Carello taillights that were unique to the early-series cars. The bianco spino paint and brightwork present honestly and are strongly believed to be original finishes. An ASI certification plaque is mounted to the rear bumper. The history of this car is documented back to new. The original Autovettura registration booklet and early ownership paperwork show this chassis was first issued its targa license number 56529 in the Cuneo province on 4 August 1959. Annual registration stamps through the 1960s and 1970s are recorded, and the previous owner purchased the car in 1987. The 56529 CN license plate still adorns the cartoday. This is an excellent driving example that has benefited from regular use and proactive servicing over the past two years, including new tires, fresh fluids, and a new battery. This is likely the best example of a stock Giulietta T.I. extant in the United States; it represents a rare opportunity to acquire such an original specimen. To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/mo19.

To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys' The Sáragga Collection event, 20 - 21 September 2019. Alfa Romeos most iconic post-war coupéDesirable, final-year Scalino variantWell-restored and ready to enjoy When it was first shown to the press, the Alfa Romeo Giulia GT had the very difficult task of replacing the much-loved Giulietta Sprint. Again, Bertone was commissioned to design and produce the bodies for Alfas production coupé, and with the talent of a young Giorgetto Giugiaro, the new Giulia GT was an instant success. In 1966, Alfa introduced the GT 1300 Junior, which was a simplified variant of the Giulia GT-powered 1300TIs engine, equipped with two twin-choke carburetors. Aimed at younger Alfisti, the Junior became the best-selling model for the entire Giulia GT lineup. This particular example is from the last year of production of the famous Scalino body variant, with a distinctive, slightly raised front bonnet. Fully restored some years ago and finished in stunning colours, itwould surely be a thrill to drive and enjoy. To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/pg19.

To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys' Monterey event, 15 - 17 August 2019. California car from new with its original California titleThorough restoration by Alfa Romeo specialistsIncludes service records, manuals, and two sets of keys The 2000 GT Veloce was unveiled at the Gardone Riviera in June 1971. It was fitted with an upgraded 131 hp, 2-liter twin-cam four-cylinder engine shared with the more pedestrian 2000 sedan, albeit with a different axle ratio. A five-speed manual transmission and four-wheel disc brakes came standard, along with SPICA mechanical fuel injection on U.S.-bound examples. Carburetors were retained for all other markets, and interestingly, horsepower ratings for injected and carbureted cars were identical. In addition to the sporty ride and handling of the car, Alfa emphasized comfort, making the GTV a fine grand tourer. During the production run from 1971 to 1977, 37,459 were produced, 5,171 of which came to North America. Nineteen seventy-four was thefinal year that 2000 GTVs were sent stateside. Finished in a striking shade of Azure Le Mans, this GTV has been comprehensively restored over the last 20 months by marque experts Alfa Performance Connection of Orange County, California, and Norman Noosha Panuyeh, LLC. It has known California ownership from new, including the consigner, only its third owner. A matching-numbers example, it is equipped with factory air-conditioning, which has been updated to todays mechanical standards. The engine was rebuilt at 97,000 miles, and it continues to perform wonderfully, according to the consigner. The car has remained in California its whole life, and included is the original California title, service records, manuals, and two sets of keys. A detailed booklet chronicling the cars history and restoration is available upon request. This lovely Alfa Romeo has never been shown and will no doubt turn heads on any driving tour or concours field upon which it should appear. To view this car and others currentlyconsigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/mo19.
