Superbly presented inDiamond Silver with a sumptuous charcoal sports leather interiorHardly used by its first two owners. In a private collection since 2017Well-documented service and MOT historyFull book pack in Mercedes-Benz leather walletA very special example of Mercedes' market-leading Grand Tourer and surely unrepeatable at this mileageIntroduced in 2002, after some five years in development, the R230 Series SL Roadster was an engineering 'tour de force'. Painstakingly modelled on a state-of-the-art supercomputer which enabled the designers to analyse every curve and line, it looked utterly sensational with an air of barely contained aggression that gave it huge road presence. Packed full of sophisticated electronic driver aids which made it immensely safe but also fun to drive, it was an instant hit with press and public alike and is widely considered to be the best-looking Mercedes for many years. The power-operated aluminium folding roof was particularly admired and would disappear intothe top of the boot at the press of a button in just 16 seconds, yet still leave enough room underneath for 206 litres of luggage space. It was in 2003 that the stunning looking SL55 AMG version was introduced. Seriously powerful and massively fast, the 5.4-litre engine gave 476 bhpand a tree stump pulling 520lbs/ feet of torque! Early owners included the, notoriously difficult to please, Jeremy Clarkson, who became quite vocal about his enthusiasm for the way it drove, the way it looked and above all, the way it sounded! Featuring the amazing 'Panoramic Electric Glass Roof System', it became the sports car to own between 2003 and 2006.LM53 OTV is finished in Diamond Silver with a sumptuous Charcoal sports leather interior and was initially registered in early January 2004, to Mercedes-Benz directly and then subsequently sold to its first owner who was a merchant banker. It was bought for his wife who, strangely, did not like the car and consequently it spent most of its life being rarely used. Thecars second owner obviously was also selective about when he drove it and, since 2017, it has been part of a private collection all of which explains the tiny mileage of 4,500. Lack of mileage does not mean lack of maintenance, however, and the Service Record has been stamped at the following intervals; 07/08/08 at1,775, 20/04/17 at4,315, 18/09/19 at4,476 miles. The MOT history is also well documented; 2009 at1,962 miles, 2,010 at3,087, 2011 at4,268, 2017 at4,339, 2019 at4,481 and all of this information is in the original book pack in the proper Mercedes presenter. The car clearly has had little wear, still generating that lovely combination of aromatic leather and new car feel when sitting in it for the first time. This SL55 AMG presents really, really well and appears almost unmarked. The engine bay appears showroom fresh and the whole car has patently been looked after. Ballistically quick, fabulous looks, continent covering pace, yet as civilised in town as a Toyota Corolla, it's no wonder thatsome supercar owners tend to get a little upset.

Only11,282 miles. In family ownership before becoming part of a collection in 2016Finished in Titansilber with a dramatic Imola Red andBlack Nappa Leather interiorThe 3.2-litre, 321bhp, naturally-aspirated, S54 straight-six makes this car really specialWell-specified from new, it's equipped with heated seats, air conditioning, and a moon roofRecently serviced (September 2019) and the MOT is valid until May 2020One of only 165 right-hand drive, S54 examplesand, at this mileage, a rare opportunity for a discerning collectorThe Z3 was the first modern mass-market roadster produced by BMW as well as the first new BMW model to be assembled in the United States. It was introduced as a 1996 model year vehicle, shortly after being featured in the James Bond movie 'Goldeneye'. While the film was number one at the box office, sales of the car peaked and over 15,000 orders had been placed by the time the car was launched. The Z3 was designed by Joji Nagashima of the BMW design team and developed from the3-series E36 platform and consequently is often referred to as the E36/7(roadster) or E36/8(coup). When launched, only the 1.9-litre, straight-four engine was offered, but its 138bhp proved a bit short of breath. A 2.2-litre engine producing 168bhp was made available for the more enthusiastic driver whilst in 1997 a powerful six-cylinder 2.8-litre unit producing 190bhp was an option, and ultimately, in 1998, the 3.2-litre Z3M topped the range. In October 2001, the 'M' Coup reappeared with the new 3.2-litre S54B32 engine from the E46 M3, producing 321bhp at 7400rpm and 258lb/ft.The documentation with this lovely example indicates that the car has been enjoyed by three keepers, but the first of these was the original purchaser who then sold it to his brother who later sold it back to him so, whilst three keepers is technically correct, in real terms it's one familyownership. Anyway, between them, they only managed to cover 11,000 miles and this car is almost certainly one of the best examples in thecountry. Supplied new by Hexagon BMW finished in sparkling Titan Silver with contrasting Imola Red & black Nappa leather trim, this car is in excellent condition. Well-specified from new, it's equipped with heated seats, air conditioning, and a moon roof. The car has been particularly well-kept and appears virtually untouched as evidenced by the first aid kit which is still in the original cellophane. It was serviced just once, as per its BMW schedule, and had periods on SORN from 2012 until 2016 when it joined a private collection. The mileage is warranted by a VOSA MOT check- 2006 at5929 miles, 2007 at6758, 2008 at7162, 2011 at8618, 2016 (June) at10,965, 2016 (November) at11,110 and 2019 at1,281.Further details of the car's initial thirteen years can be found within the history file along with all its handbooks, V5c registration, the current MOT Certificate valid until May 2020 and details of its most recent service in September this year at 11,282 miles.Only 165 right-hand drive, S54 enginedexamples of the Z3M were ever produced by BMW, and that rarity will inevitably result in them becoming particularly sought after.

UK-supplied, right-hand drive, XJ220 with 2,000 miles from new under its two owners Delivered new to Sir John Madejski in April 1992 in Spa Silver with a Charcoal interior Purchased by our vendor, the second owner, from Sir John in 2010 and part of his collection ever since 28,000 spent with XJ220 specialist, Don Law, in 2016 including replacement of the fuel cell and other recommended work with invoices on file An extremely rare opportunity to acquire a very low mileage, low owner, example of one of the most significant supercars of its eraWith 0-60mph acceleration in a brutal 3.5 seconds, the XJ220 was indisputably the fastest road car on the planet when theprototype was revealed at the 1988 British Motor Show in Birmingham. The response was sensational and, as expected, orders and the required 50,000 deposits flooded in from all corners of the world. The original concept was for a V12-engined car with a six-speed gearbox and four-wheel drive priced at just under 300,000, however, some four yearslater when production finally commenced, the XJ220 had become a two-wheel drive, twin-turbo V6 with a five-speed box on offer at 470,000. Predictably, many of the 1,500 option holders tried to cancel their purchase blaming the massive change in the specification but the collapse in values of collectable supercars at the time was probably more of a factor. Eventually, the car found 275 buyers and the others don't know what they missed. Producing an impressive 549bhp at 7,000rpm/473lb.ft at 4,500rpm and now slightly shorter by some 10 inches courtesy of the smaller dimensions of the V6 engine against the bulky V12, but still, with a not inconsiderable girth of six feet and six inches, the XJ220 proved more than capable of reaching its target maximum speed. In 1992, at the Italian Nardo test track, Formula One and sportscar ace, Martin Brundle, recorded 212.3mph around the banking in standard trim and 217.1mph with the catalytic converters disconnected, the latter speed equivalent to 223mph on astraight road. Thanks to racing-developed inboard wishbone suspension and huge ventilated disc brakes with four-piston callipers, it held the road beautifully and stopped equally as well. Production of the car began the following year in a purpose-built factory at Bloxham in Oxfordshire with the first cars delivered in July to, amongst other well-known names, Elton John, Baron Hamer of Alford and the Sultan of Brunei. On the circuits, the Jaguar also proved highly effective. In the competition version, the XJ220C, another sports car ace, Win Percy, took victory on the car's race debut in the BRDC National Sports GT Challenge. In the 1993 Le Mans 24 Hours John Nielsen, David Brabham and David Coulthard finished first in the GT class, though only for their XJ220C to be subsequently disqualified over a spurious technical infringement.Offered here is a very special example of this iconic 90s Supercar. It is a UK-supplied, right-hand drive example thats covered a remarkable 2,035miles from new in thehands of just two owners. Its finished in the highly desirable colour combination of Spa Silver with a Charcoal interior and has been owned by our vendor, the second owner, since 2010 when he bought the XJ220 from its first owner, Sir John Madejski. Sir John has a wide range of commercial interests and achievements spanning property, Broadcast Media, hotels, restaurants, football and is the founder of the magazine which became Autotrader. Our vendor is no less a celebrity, being a well-known and respected Historic racer and businessman.Having covered a tiny mileage its easy to see in the cars accompanying history file that no expense has been spared maintaining this rare Jaguar. During our vendors ownership, JD classics were initially entrusted to look after the car and invoices in the file clearly detail the specialised attention the XJ220 received. More recently, model experts Don Law, have looked after the car for the vendor. Indeed, there are significant invoices in the file from 2016 when27,000 was invested recommissioning the car following long term storage and this work included replacing the Fuel Cell, other, model-specific, timed replacements and naturally a full service. All the original books are included in the history file, with both the cars owners electing to leave the service book untouched, preferring to attach the relevant invoices detailing work thats been carried out.Silverstone Auctions are delighted to offer such a special example to the open market for the first time in nearly ten years. Indeed, this car is being stored with Silverstone Auctions until the sale in November, and we welcome any pre-sale inspection.

1583cc PV444 withthe later 85bhp B16B engineManufactured in 1957 and usedby the Swedish Forestry Commissionuntil 1985Imported into the UK by a Volvo Dealership and remained a showroom car for the next 14yearsIn 2001 upgraded to the American 08 standard (twin SUs,4-speed gearbox, unleaded head)Owned andrestored by a number of prominent Volvo enthusiasts, winning many showsFullydocumented 63,000 miles and history from new, many trophies and associated itemsIn September 1944, Volvo unveiled a car that was to be the key to its future. The model designation '444 denoted four-cylinders, four seats, and 40hp, and it was to become the mainstay of Volvos product line until production of the PV-series ended in 1965.At the time, the reveal of the PV444 was a sign that better days were indeed on the horizon. Featuring a unibody design to reduce weight and boost fuel economy, the first PV444 models were powered by a 1.4-litre overhead-valve four-cylinder engine, rated at the aforementioned 40hp. The PV444helped to further Volvos reputation as a builder of safe cars, as the car came with a laminated safety glass windscreen, as well as a safety body that resisted crushing even in rollover accidents. The PV444 evolved incrementally over the years, with each new model gaining a letter suffix to denote its new and improved status and,by the end of the models run in 1957, the PV444L was producing 60hp from its 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine. Sport versions of the car which relied on the same 1.6-litre engine in a higher state of tune were producing 85hp, and the PV series was rapidly gaining a reputation as a capable car in motorsport. The car presented here is a 1957, split-screen PV444LS 08, benefiting from a 4-speed gearbox attached to a B16B engine with twin SU carburettors producing 85bhp (upgraded in 2001). This very special example is well-known to The Volvo Enthusiasts Club 2010 and is considered probably the only PV444 in Concours condition (officially) in the UK, having been shown regularly overthe last 20+ years. Previously registered 349 BAF, our vendor improved on its already remarkable condition since acquiring it in 2015, winning the 2016/17 VEC Best Car, Class Winner and Best Engine Bay. This venerableVolvo is undoubtedly a credit to its previous owners, however, achange in circumstances now mean thatthe car must be sold, andthe hope isthat this level of dutiful ownership will continue. A Concours quality car ready to be enjoyed!

Cherished number (600 JRL) will stay with the carIn 1967, Alfa Romeo dipped its toe into the Supercar sector by launching the Montreal, named after the Montreal Expo where it made its debut. Initially fitted with Alfa's four-cylinder, twin-cam engine, by the time the Montreal was launched, for a limited production run at the 1970 Geneva Motor Show, this had changed to an all-new V8 quad-cam competition-derived power unit with dry-sump lubrication taken from the successful Type 33 sports racer and mated to a 5 speed ZF gearbox, an altogether moreappropriate power plant for such an exotic machine. With a capacity of 2,593cc, the V8 featured twin overhead camshafts per bank and produced, via Alfa Romeo/Spica fuel injection and Bosch electronic ignition, 200bhp at 6,500rpm. This provided excellent performance with a top speed of 137mph and 0-60mph in just 7.6 seconds. Under the exotic Bertone designed 2+2 coup coachwork, the Montreal incorporated many stylish features, such as the headlamp eyelids and the NACA duct on the bonnet. The floorpan was derived from a modified 1750 GTV chassis and sported independent coil-sprung front suspension, live coil-sprung rear axle, a limited-slip differential and ventilated discs. This resulted in excellent road holding and braking. In the stylish interior, the seats had built-in adjustable headrests and an unusual external feature was vacuum-operated headlamp stone guards.Further details to follow shortly...

Aston Martin book pack and wallet including service bookNew tyres, freshly serviced and the MOT is valid until early October 2020Aston Martin introduced the long-awaited Vantage version of their successful DB7 in 1999. Sporting a Cosworth designed, 5.9- litre V12 producing a creamy 420bhp, the car was super-quick and was electronically limited to 185mph. The V12 had a serious appetite for air compared to its 6-cylinder predecessor, demanding a larger intake and other modifications to the frontal airflow were made to aid cooling. Other changes included chassis and braking upgrades to cope with the increased performanceand Ian Callumenlarged the grille, added fog lamps, and restyled the valances to give the car a more purposeful look. The Vantage interior leather trim was cut and sewn at a special trim shop at Newport Pagnell, where the carpet and wood veneers were also prepared. This superb DB7 Vantage was originally supplied by Stratstone of Wilmslow on 28/02/2003 in Tungsten Silver with an Obsidianleather and Burr Walnut interior and has been enjoyed by three former keepers who between them have covered just over 48,000 miles.
