.1969 MG Midget MK III 1275cc. Tartan red with black upholstery and a black hood and red factory style hard top. Essentially a slightly more expensive badge-engineered version of the Austin-Healey Sprite MkII, the MG Midget was launched in 1961, initially with a 948cc twin carb A-Series engine producing 46bhp. In 1962 the engine was uprated to a 1,098cc unit now with 56bhp and brake discs replaced the drums at the front. With the launch of the MkIII version in 1966, the engine was enlarged yet again to 1,275cc and now produced 67bhp. The rear axle ratio was also increased for more relaxed cruising along with a host of minor revisions to the interior and exterior, including more rounded rear wheel arches from 1972. Eminently tuneable, the MkIII is now particularly popular in the many race series that are organised for MG Midgets to compete in. On the road it is an exhilarating car to drive as you always feel like you are going twice as fast as you really are! Dating from March 1969, this Tartan Red MkIII is one of those modified cars with numerous sporting touches including a tuned engine with larger twin SU carbs (hence the bulge in the bonnet), full-flow exhaust manifold, front and rear bumpers removed, rounded rear arches, sports steering wheel and works-type hard top. It rides on a set of sporty wire wheels with good tyres (including the spare). Recently fitted with new carpets, it also comes with a soft top and a tonneau cover. It has been in the current ownership since 2007 but has been more polished than driven in recent times, 10 old MOTs showing that it has only covered around 1,200 miles in the last 10 years. Starting promptly and running nicely as we drove it to take the pictures, it has a pleasingly fruity exhaust note and is in very good order throughout. We have a nice history folder with the car containing some bills and invoices, old mot's and owners handbooks. Absolutely any inspection is welcome. All major debit cards accepted. Delivery can be arranged.

1968 Hillman Imp Californian. Bright red with black upholstery. A very rare sight on U.K roads now. The coupe bodyshell is similar to the standard body but features a more shallow-raked windscreen and rear window which, unlike that on the standard bodied cars, can not be opened. The attempt at a more sporty design did not translate into better acceleration or top speed figures and the aerodynamics of the standard saloon are actually slightly better. The new body style made its first appearance at the Paris Motor Show in October 1967, with the introduction of the sporting Sunbeam Stiletto. The coupe body had also appeared, with less powerful engines, in the Hillman Imp Californian announced in January 1967 and the more luxurious Singer Chamois coupe. Rare indeed and in superb condition following a bare shell rebuild and professional repaint. Engine reconditioned and many new ancillaries to include carburettor dynamo etc. The interior was re-trimmed, new tyres fitted and we will apply a fresh MOT onthe car. The car drives without fault and performed well on test drive. Absolutely any inspection is welcome and viewing is highly recommended. All major debit cards accepted. As memories of rationing during the war started to disappear, car makers were finally starting to catch up with the demand for almost anything new. Even in its third year as basically the same model, the enthusiasm from the buying public in the post-war boom era was stronger than ever. The Special Deluxe was the top-of-the-line Plymouth, and this 1948 convertible coupe was the second most expensive model aside from the woody wagon. All around the country in industry, housing and other economic growth sectors there were plenty of customers for top-shelf models such as this Special Deluxe convertible. About the biggest change with the 1948 models was the switch from 16- to 15-inch wheels and tires. For the era, Plymouth's styling was right in line with the rest of the competition, and sales proved it. Priced at $1,857 in base form, a total of 15,295 examples were produced that year. This Plymouth is an original righthand drive South African (1946 build date) Special De Luxe convertible model, bought approximately 20 years ago, he used the car for five years whereupon it was stood up for a period of time. Purchased ten years ago now, it underwent a comprehensive nut and bolt rebuild. It was totally dismantled and found to be a very good structural condition with panels in near-perfect condition. As a result, much of the body-work was able to be re-used and is original to the car. The only areas requiring fabrication were both door-step areas. The bodyshell and panels were then prepared and painted inside and out. After six months, the job was complete and bolted together, all chrome and stainless steel was sent to London Chroming for refreshing, it was then sent to Mark Webster in order to have every part of the interior freshly remade in aged leather from an Italian tannery. The original roof frame was dismantled and reconditioned to work freely and a new soft-top wasmanufactured by Mark Webster. The interior trim and hood alone is estimated to cost in excess of £16,000 with the total cost of the rebuild in the excess of £60,000. All the mechanical re-build work was undertaken by specialists, Lenham Motor Company and Classic & Hotrod Engineering. It is thought that, as far as can be researched, this is the only right hand drive car of its type in the UK and, as of today we think the only right hand drive car for sale anywhere in the world. Beautifully presented and super-rare, certainly an investment in anyone's book. Absolutely any inspection is welcome. All major debit cards accepted. Delivery can be arranged.

1972 MGB GT Manual Overdrive. Glacier White with Navy Blue upholstery. Only 18,300 miles from new. Considering that the MGB was originally inspired by the Aston Martin DB2/4, it took the factory a rather long time to develop a fixed-roof version of the B. Indeed, from 1963 to 1965, BMC's Competitions Department was obliged to fit the MGB roadster with an accessory hardtop in order to race in GT classes. It seemed that MG was missing an obvious opportunity but it was not for lack of trying. The Abingdon design office had started work on an MGB coupe, designated EX227, months before the roadster even went into production, but none of their efforts had borne fruit. Engineer Roy Brocklehurst said the primary obstacle was the determination to retain the roadster's windscreen, presumably for cost reasons. Because the B's windscreen was so low, it proved very difficult to design a good-looking roof that would still provide adequate headroom. The tacked-on roof of the previous MGA coupe was no solution; itlooked like an afterthought and chief body engineer Jim O'Neill, among others, had never liked it. MG chief engineer Syd Enever explored various design concepts for a fixed-head MGB, but none was satisfactory and the project dragged on for almost two years. Apparently growing impatient, BMC chairman George Harriman commissioned Italy's Pininfarina to build a prototype - much to the dismay of Enever, who saw it as a vote of no confidence. In the Autumn of 1963, Abingdon shipped a grey MGB roadster to Turin and Pininfarina duly returned the car the following Spring, now painted metallic green and sporting an attractive hatchback roof. This new design finally sliced the Gordian knot that had stymied MG's designers. By raising the windscreen about 4 inches with a commensurately larger 'greenhouse', the Pininfarina car combined reasonable headroom, superior aerodynamics, and finely balanced proportions. Those finely balanced proportions are clearly displayed in this lovely Glacier White example. Datingfrom early 1972, the MG is accompanied by the original dealer "Quotation" (dated 20/12/1971) which shows that the car was ordered with Overdrive, Brake Servo, Wire Wheels fitted with Radial Tires, Head Restraints, a Heated Rear Window, and was Undersealed. Purchased by an engineer for his wife, she managed to cover 13,918 miles in the first six years, so the decision was taken, for whatever reason, to put the MG into dry storage where it was to remain for the next 23 years. The car was cherished and looked after during this period, as can be seen by its current condition, until in 2000 it was decided to return it to the road. The recommissioning process was entrusted to a local race engineering business and they have professionally maintained the MG over the last 18 years during which period it has covered a further 4,429 miles. The total indicated mileage is now 18,347 and this is supported by a large history file containing lots of MoTs, insurance and maintenance paperwork and the all importantPassport to Service along with the original handbook and invoices of the recommissioning. This is a lovely example of a chrome bumper BGT in sparkling Glacier White with an interesting history and very low mileage. Absolutely any inspection is welcome and viewing is highly recommended.
