1927 Rolls Royce Phantom 1 Piccadilly Roadster. Chassis Number: S268RM Swiss Registered. A magnificent example of The Springfield Produced Rolls Royce Phantom 1. This car is in superb original mechanical condition & has never been messed around with right down to the original ceramic insulators on the twin coils. It has won prizes at Schloss Dyck & the Prestigious Villa D'Este Concours attesting to its collectability. Rarely do we get such impeccable cars with such impeccable provenance. The car is finished in Pristine Black paint as when new. To the interior is Black leather & black carpets. Under the bonnet the car is just as it left the factory with every detail correct. Chassis Number S268RM is unique; a 1927 Springfield built Rolls-Royce that has all correct history; the car was delivered as a four place tourer but sent back to Rolls-Royce for the fitting of the current Rolls-Royce Custom Coachwork body in December 1927. (See John de Campi Rolls-Royce in America pp 81/230/231). Then it was owned by Joe Carmen for some 45 years where it resided in a museum until the present owner acquired it. The car has been beautifully restored by the Woods Brothers in New England and has the added benefit of an overdrive unit to complement long distance tour driving. Everything on the car is otherwise original and it has won honours in the Rolls-Royce Owners Club, the CCCA, at Pebble Beach 2000 and at Villa dEste 2005. Class winner Retro Classics meets Barock 2015. Class winner in 2009 At Schwetzingen also. Regrettably it was pouring rain upon the day of our visit so we are rescheduling a proper photo shoot in the next few weeks. The car may be viewed by appointment in Northern Switzerland. The car comes with an assortment of paperwork including its original instruction book. A gallery of large high-resolution pictures may be viewed on our website. 1927 Rolls Royce Phantom 1 Sedanca by Thrupp & Maberly. Chassis number: 16LF Registration number:YH2900 Delivered new to one K.S. Smith Exq of Millbank Westminster in June of 1927. This car was sent to famed coach-builders Thrupp & Maberly to have its current body erected upon the chassis taking the form of an elegant & imposing sedanca deville. The car comes to us in beautiful & very original condition. Indeed it has one awards at the RREC in the preservation class. It has also been shown at schloss Dyck & a variety of other events. Paintwork is Maroon over black. The bonnet areas are getting quite thin from years of polishing to the point where the undelying aluminium is close to showing through, giving the car a wonderfully aged patina. In recent years the car has only ever been washed in warm water & given a coating of hard wax to better preserve the paints originality. The front seats are of black leather with black door cards. To the interior is west of England cloth in beige along with original carpets. The car as a whole has a very untouched feel to it. It has resided for the last 8 or so years when we previously sold it in a small private collection. Twin occasional seats fold out from the bulkhead making this a true 7 seater. All original nickel plated insturmennts are present & correct on the black dash board. The 3 gallon fuel reserve with its associated tap is extant & working perfectly. The car comes with working keys for the dooors bonnet & ignition. The car has been well maintained without regard to cost. Attention has been given to ensure all the details work correctly such as interior lights, the spot light & the fuel Guage. We are giving the car a service upon arrival with fresh fluids whilst also checking the valve clearances & doing the timing. The Magneto is a little weak so we wiill also be overhauling it as part of its service. Mechanically the car is strong with a quiet engine that regularly starts off the advance / retard lever once warm. 5 years ago the engine was disassmbled & checked over with all the cooling galleries being cleaned out from accumulated silt as the car was starting to run hot on warmer days. It is now back to running cool as per factory spec. The car comes to us with its original Ace wheel discs, under trays, hand operated spot lamp etc etc. It really is a time warp car & one for aficionados of originality. Vintage and Prestige are proud to offer this 1927 Bentley 4 ½ Litre Le Mans style Tourer For Sale. Registration no: YV 9987 Engine no: XL3114 Chassis no: XL3113 Factory records show this 4 ½ was originally buils as a H.J. Mulliner coupe and delivered to J.Harsard in April 1928. This Bentley has been under the current family ownership since 1991 when the proprietors bought 2 cars from Tony White in South Africa(Cape Town). Neither car had many body parts, but were otherwise complete. Tony White had originally planned to rebuild them himself but stated that the Bentley 8 Litre, that he had always wanted to buy, came on the market and he needed to sell the 2 4 1/2 litre cars to raise the cash to buy it. Records show that chassis was sent back to the Bentley factory to be realigned, the chassis does also bear an extra number of exp5 which may be an original team car chassis that was used in the construction of the car. Jim Pike from Excell Engineering was commissioned to rebuild both cars as Le Mans replicas, both cars were rebuilt to concours standards, the sister car was subsequently sold with YV 9987 remaining in the family. During the ownership XL3113 has competed in many VSCC events and even won the Measham rally in 2010, she has been well serviced and cared for, including a radiator rebuild by specialists The Vintage Car Radiator company in recent years. We are fortunate enough to have some of the finest WOs pass through our hands each year, this is certainly no exception to the rule. The overall setup is excellent, a well tuned and balanced engine along with a great suspension and brake setup means this WO is definitely one of the best driving cars out there. She pulls along the road nicely and with a proven rally history she is certainly ready for another! Aesthetically YV 9987 is definitely not a polished to within an inch of its life show queen, although we have sympathetically polished some of the brightwork for the photography, this 4 ½ has more of a rugged / patina effect and certainly would not look out of place on any vintage rally. In our showroom and ready for viewing. A large gallery of high-resolution pictures may be viewed on our website.
