1931 Riley Alpine 14/6 Fabric Saloon The six cylinder Riley models first appeared in 1929, with the engine being essentially a Nine with two additional cylinders . Initially the models catalogued included the Deauville, Stelvio and Alpine - the latter being available in both tourer and saloon versions, with the earlier saloons having fabric coachwork. The new models attracted much attention, with Sir Malcolm Campbell being highly impressed by the performance which he considered the equal to many cars of 20hp. We are pleased to offer here a splendid example of the Alpine saloon with fabric coachwork, this car having been the subject of restoration to a very high standard which was completed around 8 years ago. This included a full re-trim in light blue/grey hide, whilst the engine was rebuilt by marque expert Keith Pointing. 6000 miles have been covered since completion and this Alpine is a true joy to drive, with that feeling of power in reserve and a smooth 6 cylinder exhaust note. The original London registration number remains on the car and all fittings and interior furnishings are correct. Only a small number of this model are recorded with The Riley Register so it will certainly appeal to those seeking a rare and distinctive sporting saloon from this era. With its elegant shape and twin rear windows - a popular Riley styling feature at this period, this is a motor car with considerable character. There is a large file of bills and information are included. For initial enquiries and to arrange an appointment to view, please call us on 01420-474919 or 07710-364945

Robin Lawton Vintage & Classic Cars are proud to Offer for Sale: Ex-Works Competition Department 1935 Riley TT Sprite AVC 19 - Chassis Number 22T1750 (one of 7 Works-built models) prepared to Original Specification. FIA, FIVA, HTP, VSCC We are proud and excited to bring to the market one of the most original Riley Team Cars AVC 19 which has just been the subject of a fastidious and long awaited restoration to original specification. The car now looks just at it did in 1935 when it made its race debut at the 1935 Tourist Trophy driven by Von der Becke and finishing a creditable 9th against some extremely formidable competition. The complete rebuild of this car, which was finished just over a week ago, was only possible because Robin Lawton Vintage & Classic Cars - were able to assist with securing the acquisition of numerous original components both body and mechanical which had hitherto been unavailable for at least the past 40 years! This Riley has a distinguished race history which includes: 1935 Tourist Trophy, 1936 French Grand Prix (finishing 3rd in the under 2 litre class), 1936 Tourist Trophy, 1937 Le Mans 24 Hours, 1937 French Grand Prix, 1937 Montlhery, 1945 Paris Benoist Cup and following an earlier restoration which was completed in 2009 the car was campaigned at Prescott and several other VSCC Events by Riley guru, Allen Clear. Significant historic competition cars always great create interest, but it is rare to find a car with such comprehensive and fully documented provenance dating back over 80 years. Many Evocations of the delectable TT Sprite have been created over the years but this is a true original with a virtually unrivalled pedigree in its class. Background on the car has been extensively researched and it is believed that this car, chassis 22T1750 was constructed in the Riley Works Competition Department using the chassis from the 6 cylinder Works MPH Racer - KV9478. The evidence for this is the fact that the nearside dumb iron shows evidence of the reuse of the chassis: 22T1750 is stamped on the side with evidence of 44T2128 stamped on the top of the dumb iron. There is also evidence that appears to show where the MPH chassis had its brackets for the front axle radius arms removed showing that AVC 19 was built up from KV9478 using parts available at the time. The aforementioned MPH had competed in the 1934 Le Mans before being dismantled by the works in the summer of 1935 with AVC 19 (chassis number 22T1750 being registered by the Riley Works in May 1936). There is the most substantial and fully documented history of the car, which is available, under separate cover, for interested parties. We also have photograph albums, historic notes and invoices which can be inspected at The Garage. Robin Lawton Vintage & Classic Cars is delighted to have been involved and able to work closely with the restorer and owners who led the project. 1933 Riley Nine Lynx (disappearing hood model) This example of the sought after disappearing-hood Lynx Nine has been known to us for some years. It spent some 30 years in Holland, where it underwent extensive restoration, before returning to the UK during 2010 and being reunited with its original Surrey registration number. It has been enjoyed and used on various events by its enthusiastic owners, including participating in the Fougere Rally a few years ago and has proved very reliable. The weather equipment is in serviceable order, with the sidescreens having been recently renewed whilst the interior trim, in brown leather, is also in good condition. The car has the Special Series engine with twin SU carbs, and an electric cooling fan has been fitted, for peace of mind during Summer weather, while flashing indicators ensure added safety in modern traffic. She has just recently undergone extensive work by marque specialists which has included a gearbox rebuild and resetting of rear springs, and a full engine tune and replacement of the oil pump. Some electrical remedial work has also just been carried out including fitment of a reconditioned starter motor. In all, a most attractive Lynx which is sure to provide much enjoyment to its new custodian. Included in the file of paperwork are photos of the car in Holland, information from previous owners and a copy of a magazine article regarding the Riley Nine. Also supplied is a copy of the Maintenance Manual. For more information please call us on 07710-364945 or 01420-474919. Viewing strictly by prior appointment please. Delivery can be arranged

1932 Riley Monaco- considerable expenditure excellent throughout Making its debut at Shelsley Walsh in 1926 the Riley Monaco was a ground breaking step in small car design with its highly efficient twin-cam engine and distinctive body styling the Monaco was to rapidly become a firm favourite with those seeking a small family car with considerably above average performance and handling. This example was first registered in Newcastle on the 5th October 1932. Over the last 8 years, some £12,500 has been invested in ensuring the car is in very good all round order. Beautifully presented in Maroon and Black with a functioning sunshine roof. This car has been extremely well maintained and improved by its current owner. An extensive history is provided along with a spreadsheet detailing expenditure. For more information and to arrange an appointment to view please call us on 07710-364945 or 01420-474919.

1938 Riley 12/4 Six-Light Kestrel A thoroughly pleasing example of the beautifully proportioned six-light Riley 12/4 Kestrel, this car is particularly rare being one of the final series and differing from earlier models by the slatted radiator grill and lack of louvres on the bonnet sides, along with the straight bumpers. The car has been owned by several Riley enthusiasts who have improved it in recent years and it now presentes extremely well as an older restoration. It is fitted with the manual three speed overdrive gearbox, however, the gearbox has recentlhy been rebuilt, dispensing with the overdrive and now has a higher rear axle ratio. This format is very pleasing to drive. The BRG paintwork is extremely good and the upholstery is largely original and extremely good. We took this car on a 50 mile journey this week and it drove as one would expect a good Riley 12/4 to behave. Documentation includes a Buff RF60 log book dating back to 1953 and numerous bills along with information on the recent gear box rebuild. Rarely do Six light Kestrels become available and this example is most appealing and retains its original registration number.
