1930 Alvis Silver Eagle 16.95 TB Four Seat Tourer - This fine Silver Eagle was supplied to its first owner in June 1930. It was to remain in the original ownership for many years, before being passed down to the owners son. However, the son never used the car, putting it into storage in a timber garage. Years later, the building collapsed on top of the car and was set on fire by vandals. The outcome was that all the original Atlantic Saloon coachwork behind the scuttle was destroyed. The car was to pass to a new owner in 1984, who spent the next three years restoring it to a very high standard, with exact replica Cross & Ellis tourer coachwork, this being undertaken by Phil Kneller. The restoration was finished in the Summer of 1989 and some 20,000 miles has been covered subsequently and the car has been well maintained over the ensuing years, remaining in first class order and being a delight to drive. This Silver Eagle is the rarer, wide chassis sports model with high ratio rear axle, close ratio gearbox and triple carburettors. An rear Auster Screen is fitted, which ensures passengers have a relatively draught-free ride and a full tonneau cover is supplied, along with a hood bag and luggage trunk. Also included is a small craftsman made, personalised folding picnic table, two embroidered travel rugs. The Auster Screen also has a lap apron, as originally fitted. The car is fully equipped for touring and has twin spare wheels, pillar mounted spotlamp and a pair of long range lamps. It has been used for a number of long distance runs over the past few years, including a trip to the Pyrenees. This superb Alvis is ready to go anywhere, with a comfortable cruising gait of around 55-60 mph. Much documentation is supplied, including a comprehensive photographic history of the restoration along with numerous receipts etc. Six new Blockley tyres have been fitted recently and the battery has also been replaced. Chassis Number: 13059 Engine Number: 8647 For more information please call me on 07710-364945 or 01420-474919. We are located in the Heart of the Meon Valley between Winchester and Petersfield. Vintage and Prestige are proud to offer this 1958 Alvis TD21 Coachwork by Graber LHD For Sale. Registration no: TBC Chassis no: 25971 Graber commission no: 722 Mileage: 83,000 Price: 90,000.00 The first production Alvis to be styled by Swiss carrossier Graber appeared at the Paris Motor Show in October 1955. Based on the existing TC21 'Grey Lady' chassis, the newcomer brought a much-needed injection of Continental style and modernity to the Coventry manufacturer's range. Lighter, stiffer and with a much smaller frontal area than the traditionally styled Grey Lady, the Graber Alvis enjoyed much improved handling and a higher maximum speed in excess of 100mph. The first Graber-styled model - the TC108G - was built by coachbuilders Willowbrook, before production switched to Rolls-Royce's in-house coachbuilder Park Ward on the introduction of the restyled TD21 for 1959. The TD21 retained Alvis's torquey, 3.0-litre, overhead-valve six, which in up-rated form now came with 120bhp courtesy of a redesigned cylinder head. Inside, there were improvements to the accommodation, with increased headroom and legroom, especially in the rear. Lockheed servo-assisted disc brakes were an option, becoming standardised for 1960. The Motor magazine summed up the TD21 thus: 'As a perfectly serviceable everyday car with extra "chic", extra performance, and high standards of comfort and safety, its appeal to a select but important clientele should be strong.' Although Park Ward was entrusted with the production models, this left-hand drive example has coachwork by Hermann Graber, who continued to offer his own versions on the TD21 chassis. The TD21 is offered in excellent condition having received an extensive restoration from marque experts Earely Engeneering. The Graber bodylines are truly mesmerising and complimented by the Ice green paintwork, which also flows through the interior. The interior is also finished to a high standard with fluted leather to the seats, and a quilted transmission tunnel. A beautiful wooden Nardi steering wheel has been fitted, the original also comes with the car. To drive she is beautiful, the 3.0 litre engine has been well maintained and is strong with plenty of torque. The power all runs through the 5 speed Getrag gearbox which is incredibly smooth, before you know it you are in top gear and cruising along comfortably. The current Dutch owner has used her for several tours. A subtle EZ power steering system has been fitted for ease and wire wheels for aesthetics. In our showroom and ready for viewing. 1935 Alvis Silver Eagle 2 door coupé. Chassis number: 1702 Registration number: NFO629 Vintage and Prestige Fine Motor Cars are proud to be offering this 1935 Alvis Silver Eagle 2 Door Coupé for sale. An unusual Alvis Silver Eagle 2 door coupe with coachwork by cross & Ellis. Two were built to this design and we suspect this model to be the only survivor. Much money has been spent on the Alvis Silver Eagle 2 Door Coupé to bring it to the condition we find it in today. The original maroon leather interior has been preserved and is in fine patinated order. The Alvis Silver Eagle 2 Door Coupé is finished in a very period two tone grey colour scheme that suits the car very well with the paint being of recent origin and in fine order. The roof covering is of rexine fabric and again, is in excellent shape. This is a car which was in one family ownership from registration in 1935 until 1960 when it passed to an owner in Lincolnshire who took it off the road in 1962. In 2012 it emerged and since then has had the works done. Mr. William Beattie of Lochgilphead acquired the car (the V5 shows his ownership as 01/07/2014 but we think he acquired it earlier than that). He undertook a panel, paint, plating, roof, sunroof and interior restoration and also rebuilt the radiator, water pump, cylinder head, exhaust system and road wheels. The current owner had the Alvis Silver Eagle 2 Door Coupé rewired and the dynamo and control box rebuilt and then removed the sump (in view of the time it had been off the road) and fitted a new set of pistons. The interior woodwork has been restored and the brakes stripped and reassembled and carried out a full lubrication service. Thus it is now complete and running nicely although it needs some miles to shake it down and run it in. The 2.4 Litre six-cylinder engine starts readily and pulls strongly providing surprising performance from its 70 or so BHP. It is equipped with triple carbs and makes a very sporting alternative to a Derby Bentley or a more staid Rolls Royce. The gearbox, an Alvis strong point, is a pleasure to use benefiting from superb synchro-mesh making it a pleasure to drive. A traditional Alvis Eagle adorns the bonnet, wings outstretched. The car has four new tyres fitted and sits on rebuilt wire wheels. This wonderful Alvis Speed 20 4.3 litre carries the distinction of being the best driving, most thoroughly enjoyable 1930's tourer we've had in the 27 year history of the company. DMX 829 also has a particularly interesting history and has been subject of a complete rebuild using an authentic original Vanden Plas body. Nick Szkiler, our founder came back from the appraisal and test drive of this car stating, 'It's glorious and I've not driven anything like it'. The fact that it is an ex-Albert Sparrowhawk Alvis rather explains it. Back in the day, you bought a new chassis from a quality manufacturer like Alvis and clothed it with your chosen body from a number of contemporary coachbuilders, Cross and Ellis, Charlesworth and Vanden Plas for example. Almost twenty years ago, this car was rebuilt by a gifted enthusiast who really knew these cars. The chassis was originally built as a Speed 20 Charlesworth saloon in 1936. By 1965 it was in quite rough condition and was offered for sale in the AlvisOwners Club at 90. By the late 1990's the car was a rolling chassis and restoration commenced using a genuine Vanden Plas Tourer body, originally fitted to a Derby Bentley. The body is from one of five tourers built of the type, this one being documented as from RC44. The car was fitted with the more potent engine from a 4.3 litre SB Charlesworth saloon. The builder, Albert Sparrowhawk is well known in Alvis Circles as a spirited racing driver and builder. He owned the Bentley from which this body came, only buying the body back after the new owner removed it to fit a replica Bentley Le Mans tourer. Sparrowhawk had some success in motor racing:; April 1994 VSCC Silverstone:; Richard Pilkington was hopeful of repeating last year's success in the Fox & Nicholl Trophy with the Totnes Motor Museum's 1938 Talbot, but he disappeared from second place after one lap when a drive coupling sheared. That left Albert Sparrowhawk (Alvis) with the early lead from Bob Gilbert's Bentley. Arriving late on the grid,Rodney Felton was forced to start his Alfa Monza from the back but by the end of lap one he was up to 10th, and four laps later had demoted Sparrowhawk to second. The earlier Sparrowhawk Alvis, driven by David Heimann, displaced Gilbert to take third after half-distance and closed up to challenge for second, but a spirited defence by Sparrowhawk managed to retain the place to the finish. Here he is again in May 1996:; Siverstone - Vintage allcomers race. Bob Burrell led the first half of the Fox and Nicholl Trophy Race with his familiar 8-litre Bentley-Royce, closely shadowed by Julian Bronson's Riley 'Blue Streak' Special, but a quick spin by the Bentley allowed the Riley to seize the advantage; Burrell was almost caught by the scrapping pair of Albert Sparrowhawk (Alvis) and Bob Gilbert (Bentley), Burrell and Gilbert being so engrossed in their business that they battled on for two more laps after the fall of the flag! (extracts courtesy of Motorsport magazine); The engine was meticulouslyrebuilt using high compression pistons, and the best bearings available. Once assembled it was set up by Sparrowhawk - a man who really knew how to tune them. Eighteen years and some 5,000 smiles later, the car is a gem, thoroughly sorted and truly outstanding to drive. With its very robust early synchromesh four speed gearbox, the car is a joy to drive enthusiastically. Whilst not impossible to criticise cosmetically, we know we are never likely to surpass DMX 829 as the most exhilarating, taut and lively pre-war tourer imaginable. Paintwork has aged well; the alloy bodywork is still top class and the leather upholstery, hood and weather gear now have a nicely aged patina. The engine bay presents superbly. We thought carefully about price and Nick's comment was 'If I owned this, I'd never want to part with it'. Fortunately for someone it is now on the market - though we doubt it will be for long. It's the sort of car you'd see be thrilled to see (and hear) on the Flying Scotsman Rally. DMX 829comes with VSCC Eligibility document, 'buff' logbook, dating back to 1961, MOT certificates since rebuild completion in 2000 and a comprehensive file of paperwork. Price: 124,995
