No-one in the USA seemed to want this rare Italian so it ended up in a loving home on the other side of the Pacific

1962 Alfa Romeo Hightop

This is probably the only example of a hightop in the country. They made four of them and fitted them out as service vehicles for the United States. They had a mini workshop in the back and they would go round the dealerships and show them how to rebuild drivelines. It originally had a 1300 twin cam Alfa motor, now it has a 1600 twin cam, with a ZF four-speed box as a transaxle driving the front wheels.

It’s completely flat in the back you can stand up in it. I found it in Atlanta, Georgia, as part of a deceased estate. It was red, white and green when I got it and it looked crap. We went nuts with it and this is the original livery.

(Ed’s note: Jock owns Jock’s Ice Cream & Sorbet in Albert Park, Vic.)

Valiuation: Very rare and very specialised – it would depend on the day.
